Just buy the game at TRU, the card comes with the game. You could try to have them apply it to the purchase. Might not work but it's worth a shot.

Based on the demo, it looks cool, but it just makes me want to play Kotor. It just seems very same-y with the fact that you have The Force being tacked on.

I agree. The internet is no place for complaining.

Again, the Rock Band thread is the place to air your grievances. My problem is not with your complaining, it's about your post being off-topic. Complain all you want, but do it in the right place.

Ouch. That's disappointing. I was planning on getting this game for my 8 year son's birthday this week too.

Well, at essentially $40 if you count the Gift Card, I suppose it might be worth it.

Too bad it didn't turn out very well; the TV ads are just great, though.

Wow...X Play really raked it over the coals tonight.

I'm still going to buy it though. If it sucks, I'll Ebay it and with the $20 gift card I won't lose too much.

I'm enjoying the iPhone/iPod Touch version of the game. Lots of fun with the gestures. Way too much talking though, but that's always been the case in Star Wars stuff.

An average review of 7 doesn't make it suck. I never expected a SW game to get 9's across the board... so with a $20 gift card, this is a must buy for me.

I for one enjoyed the demo.

For comparison, Stranglehold* has a 77 on MetaCritic and that game was a blast. Like Stranglehold though, TFU will wait for a pricedrop. Plus if it is bad as the reviews say it is, finding a cheap used copy in a month will be pretty easy.

*picked as an example due to game play similarities.

From Kotaku:

Boss Battle That Made My Son Cry: There is in The Force Unleashed one particular boss battle of sorts involving a ((spoiler)) that isn't just onerous, it's broken. This one fight manages to coalesce everything wrong with the game into one dark and painfully long moment. The battle involves lots of hiding, running, force use, and a mini-game that requires you to follow the on-screen thumbstick manipulation directions to a T. The problem is that those on-screen directions can, on occasion, be just plain wrong. The level became so frustrating that on one particularly long play through of more than a hour, which had me within minutes of winning, I died and my son, feverish to get on with the game, broke down and started crying. That's a first.
He does mention a lot of good things too, though. Full review: As If Millions of Star Wars Fans Suddenly Cried Out

I got it today and I love it. Not disappointed at all. The $20 gift card I'll use for the B2G1 deal next month (providing it will happen then, it usually does) and get 3 games for around $100.

I'd preordered this a while back and went ahead and picked it up yesterday, despite the iffy reviews. I'm about an hour in and it's fairly fun, but I do have a few gripes. I'm not sure what those red shiny things are that Vader and his apprentice carry around, but they're sure as hell not lightsabers. I figured this out pretty quickly, when I hit a plant with one on the prologue level and it bowed over and then bounced back up, mocking the ineffectualness of my weapon. Then I found myself beating Wookies and Stormtroopers to death with it as if it's a blunt metal sword. Strangely enough, it does seem to display the properties of a lightsaber if you attack a droid, as those fall to the ground neatly sliced in two.

The game also has at least one invisible wall. There's a big tree on the first level that's got a giant hole, much bigger than Vader, right through the middle of it. It must be pretty strong with the force, though, as Vader sure as hell couldn't walk through it.

It's also disappointing that there are times you can destroy pretty massive items with the force or your blunt, shiny sword, but then you can't even take down a tree that's about a foot and a half in diameter.

None of these things are enough to kill the enjoyment of the game, but it's a damn shame they spent so much time on development for this game and couldn't even put together environments that react realistically to the powers they give you. Oh well.

^^ Agreed. They should have allowed you to just demolish and slice thru anything. If the devs wanted there to be a challenge, just throw in more bad guys --- but for crissakes, you should be able to slice EVERYTHING in half!

I thought the exact same thing. I tried getting into that tree for 5 minutes or so.

I can't believe I blew off work and the birth of my son for this crap!

Just kidding ... I am enjoying it, but it is a bit clunky. On the scrap planet, the jumping from platform to platform without falling in was a bit challenging. I am finding that I prefer the jump/dash vs a double jump, as it seems smoother.

The demo made this game seem like it was going to be much easier than it actually is. The demo is a portion of the first level (with a few liberties taken to get more of a feel for the game), but the "lesser" enemies are more difficult even on the same difficulty level.

Quint over at AICN seemed to like it. Here is his review of the 360 version.

I just don't get this type of mentality. Play the game for yourself and see if you like it. Why let other people decide what you will or won't try out?

I bought the game at midnight, and I personally love it. Fuck the reviews.
