Then I tried setting up a fresh Microsoft live.com email address and account with all of my info and attaching that to my Xbox Live account, but again it didn't work.
I think I'm ready to give up. From what my support person said, I don't think they've ever successfully helped someone whose credit cards were getting rejected.

using the Passport/Windows Live Id that is associated with your Xbox Live account. Once logged in, it should show information about your Xbox Live subscription and let you add a credit card.

I don't suppose MS does anything to attempt to appease people who have had games ruined (scratched) by their 360? My brother's scratched the hell out of CoD4, Rock Band, and Gears of War to the point where they are unplayable. He sent his 360 in with a note on it stating that it scratched and ruined them. I'm guessing he's just SOL?

yes. MS offers a replacement plan for first party games only and at a steep $20 cost.

I scratched up my Gears of War disc when it first came out by stupidly moving the XBox while it was on to reattach the optical cable that had fallen out. I ran out and bought a used copy the next day and learned my lesson.

I'm guessing he was playing different games, and it gradually did a bit of damage to each one, so he didn't realize until he got his first disc read error that it had been scratching them up. Now it's probably a combination of having scratched discs and a faulty DVD drive. Personally, I don't investigate the surface of my discs every time I take one out, guess I probably should.

I'm not that far away when I'm playing my 360 and I can usually hear when the console is scratching the disc. It's a clicking sound but it won't always give me a DRE. Other times I'll just eject manually after it hangs there for a few seconds. I keep my console in the horizontal position and I've never moved it ever. I wonder if the DVD drive becomes mis-aligned although the majority of discs play fine with no problems at all.

Questions for those with the 360 Quick Charge Kit.
Do you leave it plugged in all the time? Or do you only plug it in when charging? Do you think there's any danger in leaving it plugged in with batteries so they're always charged and ready? Will it greatly shorten their lifespan?
Thanks.

Definitely the front runner for Thread of the Year. I was going to put the dude on ignore but his posts were too funny to be missed.

Has anyone here had any issues with their Xbox systems or accessories they've sent to MS for repair? I sent my HD-DVD player to them back at the end of December and the tracking information from USPS shows they received it on 1/7/08. I was told 2-3 weeks before I'd get it back, so I called them last week to find out what the status was and they didn't have one - it was almost as if they were still waiting to receive the drive from me. I gave them the tracking info and they escalated the repair order to high priority and told my a Supervisor would be calling me back in a couple of days. Well, another week goes by and still haven't heard anything so I call them up this morning and the Supervisor explains to me that they're still waiting for a response from the Service Center as to what the status is of my player. I asked the Supervisor if it takes a week to get a response back? She wouldn't answer that other than repeating to me that when they hear something back, they'll call me. I don't know if they've lost my player or what but this is ridiculous.

So against my better judgment, I think I may try to find a 360. I figure now that I know how to determine which boxes have the Falcon chip, I think I'll take a chance on the Arcade bundle and buy the 120GB drive separately. There a few games exclusive to the system I really want to play (Bioshock, Ace Combat 6), and I miss some of the XBL stuff.
A few questions:
1) Is there some reason 360's would be in short supply right now? Best Buy is cleaned out of both versions at every store in my area according to the online store pickup. I stopped by a store tonight and sure enough, none to be found.
2) I assume you can use HDMI for video AND audio for gaming, correct?
3) Are there any widely used and cheaper alternatives to the Microsoft brand 360 adapter?
4) If you have to send in an HDMI-equipped 360 for repair, do they guarantee you'll get an HDMI one back?
Thanks for any help.

Are there Arcade bundles with the falcon? Everywhere I've been, the Premiums have been out of stock so I've been sifting through Arcade's and I can't find a single Falcon.

Well according to a couple articles I just read, it says Microsoft underestimated demand for post-holidays and hasn't shipped enough units, so this is why some stores are out.
I guess I can wait and play through my many untouched PS3 and Wii games.
I just refuse to buy a 360 online without knowing if it is a Falcon or not.
