So far, I'm in agreement. No way this game is deserving of the 9.0+ reviews. It's really good, but there isn't enough new, or innovative enough to rate it that high. The environment, besides for some crates and crap just feels so static and dead. Acceptable for the original game, but not for today's game.

Perfect game for the kids.

There are so many cardboard boxes in the game that I kept expecting to uncover Solid Snake when I picked up the 1,000th one.

Yeah, and I love how when you smash them, the pieces disappear in like 2 seconds.

Load time was the same from my work computer with a mechanical drive as it was at home with an SSD. Weak

Playing on the 360 it feels like the load times are about as long as Duke Nukem Forever was. Graphics on the cutscenes are good but not so much during gameplay. I'm enjoying it somewhat and only a few hours in but I don't see a 9.0 like IGN did yet. Maybe this summer of no major releases has made the reviewers see things differently?

I do agree with the load times being ridiculously long.

I think it's alright, but not nearly as good as I expected from the reviews.

Yeah, the ho-hum reaction here is actually making feel good that I forgot to pre-order it.

No ho-hum from me. I think it's awesome and I am having a great time with it. Maybe if it was called Deus Halo: Human Gears of Duty you might like it.

Yeah, clearly, because Gears of War, Halo, and Call of Duty are my FAVORITE games! WTF. Don't take it so personally.

It's not a bad game, it's just not anything amazing or revolutionary. The environment is so bland and static, it just completely pulls me out of any immersion. I especially love the terrible looking cars that are just sitting on the sides of the streets, and no one is ever driving them. Also the number of scripted events is ridiculous. Everything about this game feels like it was made 5+ years ago.

I'm only focusing on the negatives because the reviews have been way too damn positive. It's still a very good game, after all, I did play it for like 6 hours yesterday.

I think it's awesome as well. This is the first game in a looooong time where I stayed up and played it for a couple hours straight without wanting to take a break.

I've had a few issues with the game locking up on PC during load (apparently others are having the issue as well), the graphics definitely feel a bit dumbed down for consoles, and some of the voice acting is a bit hokey (I swear, the main guy is like Keanu Reeves), but the atmosphere and environment is wonderful to me. I've always loved this kind of future world moreso then fantasy though.

The different ways to augment and finish a quest has already gotten me into trouble once near the beginning...

Looks like I will wait for the price cut...still have a backlog anyway.

The original Deus Ex is one of my favorite games ever. My disappointment has nothing to do with this game not being a Halo clone.

Definitely invest in the conversation augment. It's one of the most useful augments in the game.

I don't like Halo or Call of Duty. I never played Gears of War.

I was looking forward to this game in a big way but was dismayed that the general feeling here seems to be "good but nothing special".

FWIW - I just picked this up. I hate most FPS games - but the fact this one has rpg elements and more story piqued my interest. I'll hopefully be able to report back later.

I'm with you... I think it's awesome so far.

I LOVED Deus Ex and have the best memories of playing it, although I haven't played it since it came out 10 years ago. Playing this game feels similar to what I remember of playing the original, and I think that is great.

The music, atmosphere, gameplay, and upgrading system all seems pretty enjoyable so far to me. I've just really been enjoying the game, and not really giving a fuck about nitpicking the graphics, and whether or not it's revolutionary or "innovative".
