Awesome! Definite purchase. I'm growing wary of RB's covers, they're fun, but not worth $2 a pop, even with 4 instruments.

As a "guitarist" I pretty much can't listen to any band that has bad vocals, no matter how great the guitar is. This goes for my favorite guitarists as well as crappy covers. P&J makes me want to poke nails through my ears, and it's not because of the guitar work.

Ha! Are you honestly surprised? We always get the new shit later than the 360 crowd....I guess it's the price we pay as the #3 next gen console...

I'd really like to play Journey, but just can't buy the pack for that much. I've already got JBH for Rock Band, and the Boston song I like, but not that much. The whole "multiple instruments" thing on Rock Band adds a ton more value for me personally. Hopefully we'll get some Journey in Rock Band at some point.

I stand corrected. I just played through the new songs. They are all fun, but I thought Juke Box Hero was a bit boring. Alll great additions though.

The Boston song is the most fun of the bunch plus it's a long one. This DLC pack is better than most of the DLC Rock Band puts out(master tracks, FTW). Played all of them about four times each last night. Very fun.

When it came out a couple of years ago I played the first "Guitar Hero" at a party and I SUCKED (I had been drinking, which didn't help, but no one told me how to play). Thought it was okay, nothing special.

Fast forward to Christmas morning and my nephews got GH III for their Wii. They showed me how the game worked and I thought it was pretty cool. And this past weekend they brought it along with them on vacation and I played it a lot...and had a BLAST.

I've got some Best Buy gift cards that I think I'll put towards GH I-III tonight, for the PS2. I considered waiting until I buy a 360, but that may be quite a ways off and I want to play it now! I like the song selection of the 80s game, but I refuse to pay full price for an expansion pack. Guess I'll wait for that one to come down in price.

Can't wait until tonight!

I'm going to have to recruit you one of these days to play with me locally so I can get some Co-Op career achievements.

Or Activision could get off their asses and update the game to make it playable on Live.

Is it playable on the other systems? Just curious.

Also, brianluvdvd and I were playing last night and tried and failed miserably at going for the 1,000,000 points in a song duo achievement. The best we got was 730K with Number of the Beast. Anyone get this achievement and what song/difficulty did you do it on?

Spiderbite and myself were going for the measly 500k achievement last night. Looks like it is doable on Metallica's One with both of us playing on Medium. We just missed it though.

I did finally manage to Gold star TTFAF on Easy, netting me the solo 1k note streak achievement. I had to hold my pinky under the neck of the guitar just to keep my brain focused solely on those three notes.

I'm pretty sure co-op is available online on PS3.

Co-op career isn't online on any of the systems. Co-op quickplay is.

I would like to add that I finally 5*'ed Raining Blood on Medium last night to finish out the Medium level. Thought it would never happen.

I would also like to register my annoyance on the difficulty scale. I find that I really enjoy the speed of Hard/Expert and do better with that, however not only do they add the speed in Hard, but then they completely throw the 5th button at you as well as much more complicated chords and sequences. Why could Hard not have just been Medium at full speed with a few more complicated sequences thrown in with maybe they orange button used more gracefully. I think I would have a lot more fun with this game if that were the case.

Also, I started playing online over the last few days and because of the differential between Hard and Medium I find that I can't beat anyone on Hard(since I can't finish most of the songs), but I haven't lost yet on Medium(after like 30 matches, not including people who quit midway...a bunch). Guess I just have to get better at Hard

Congratulations! That one gave me a hard time too. I ended up 5* RB on Medium and then passing it on hard in back to back sessions. Kind of like ripping the bandaid off

The speed of the game doesn't change, the fact that there are more notes makes it appear as so. The tempo of the song remains the same. But yes, compared to GH2 and RB, the level difficulty is something else.

But then we've got guys like Rabbit FC Stricken on Expert, so it's clearly possible.

It's hard to find good competition at the lower levels. I just get tired of the idiots who challenge on Hard and then pick RB, DWDTG and COP. Seriously, WTF.

Congrats on Raining Blood. That one is a bitch.

Yeah the Hard difficulty is totally fucked up compared to GHII and Rock Band. Harmonix does a great job at ramping up the difficulty. Early tiers on hard will ease you into the orange button. Middle tiers throw in the chords and later tiers are balls-to-the-wall hard. Activision went straight to balls-to-the-wall on tier 1. It doesn't improve your playing it just pisses you off.

Just for reference I finished Hard on RB and only have one song left on GHII on hard. I'm at the Disturbed, Slipknot, etc. tier on GHIII and will never pass any of them. It's fucked up and frustrating.

Not true Mike. You will pass them. You'll just play them enough that you'll switch when you need to.

Sounds cool. I'm at work and that site is kinda sorta blocked (it's not loading properly). Am I correct in assuming that in order to be of any use in the group one needs to have online gameplay?

If so, unfortunately I'll have to opt out since I don't have what's needed to connect my PS2 online.

Yeah, you're right. That sucks. It seems like the scoreboards are also for Wii, PS3 & the 360.

Right now I'm stuck on Slipknot on hard. I had no problem with Stricken though. But on medium I find Stricken more difficult than Slipknot. I don't know what to think anymore.

I agree Corvin. I'm a pretty mediocre player. I play on Medium on GH (for fun), and try out Hard once in a while, and I play hard on RB.

That being said, going from GHII -> GHIII, hard is so ridiculously beyond difficult it's not even funny. IMO, a lot of the hard songs in GHIII would have been expert in GHII.
