For any of you who have downloaded the new classic rock pack, did Jukebox Hero sound "weird" to any of you? It's been said that all 3 tracks here are masters, but this one sure doesn't sound like the original recording to me at all.

Too bad that guy is a day late and a dollar short. Bested by a 9 year old two months prior:

It's all about repeat playing. Just started playing the GH games when 3 came out. When I first hit medium, I suffered from the retarded pinky problem, lol. Now, after many hours of playing, I have no problem 5*ing Raining Blood on Medium. It's all about practice, practice, practice.

During the intro, he brings his pick hand over to the fretboard to tap out the notes on the fifth button a la Eddie Van Halen.

I went through GHII on easy and medium without learning this. When GHIII came out it became essential. Now I couldn't imagine strumming every note. For practice I recommend Weezer's My Name is Jonas. Just play that over and over and you will get the hang of it.

My tip, which may not be doable for others, is if you want to get better play at the harder level then what you are trying to get good at. I played Medium for about a week and was able to get through all songs, however I was stumbling over some of the harder ones. Going up to Hard made me adjust to play at that speed and made my brain work naturally harder just to do basic stuff such that playing the harder songs on medium (except TTFATF) become almost trivial and almost too slow. I am not saying I became real good at hard, I just played it enough stumbling all the way such that I at least became used to trying to read notes at blazing speed. Just getting used to that much information coming at you makes Medium that much easier. I also found that Hard is at least more melodically natural as the notes you are hearing are the ones you are actually playing. Medium annoys me because in many of the songs the notes you are actually playing dont jive with what you are hearing so you are bound to strictly read the notes instead of listening to the beat.
I would also not hang around on one song too long or feel that you have to finish an earlier song before moving on. I have found that some later songs work on techniques better then their earlier counterparts. So the later song actually teaches you the techniques that the earlier songs assumed you already knew.
And of course practice. I got this game beginning of the month and am working through Hard such that I am now on the group with Cherub Rock and I have 5*'ed probably 1/3 of the songs on Hard and have actually 5*'ed some on Expert as well. And I am still having fun doing it though such that I am not pushing myself so much that it is no longer fun.

I finally got "Intro Solo B" and "One last Solo" down over the weekend on Cliffs of Dover, but I can't put together a perfect run. It's so frustrating because there's no single section that I'm having problems with, it's just a random note here and there. My battle with this song continues.

It could be a little from both - since the two X-Plorers I have are from my GHII days they've got so much mileage on them. I do really like the Les Paul and regret getting the "game only" version the night GHIII came out but oh well.

Michael Corvin got me started trying to FC TTFAF on easy this weekend. My best run was 1100 out of 1102. Dropped one note real early which didn't hurt but the second note dropped was right in the middle. I keep trying for my 1000 note streak. I'm so used to playing Hard and Expert that playing easy is really hard. My timing is off.

Can you explain this one in a little more detail, because I'm just not getting it (and I did go through the tutorial but still don't understand). I understand with the glowing notes I can strum the first note and then simply hit the buttons for each corresponding glowing note, but I'm not sure how the other one works (pull-off?).

They're the same. One term refers to going up the fret board from Orange to Green and the other refers to going down from Green to Orange.
It took me a few tries. I'd miss one note 700 in and just quit. It's an easy song to get lulled into boredom on easy. Like I said, I had to put my pinky under the fret board to stay focused on just the three notes.
