For any of you who have downloaded the new classic rock pack, did Jukebox Hero sound "weird" to any of you? It's been said that all 3 tracks here are masters, but this one sure doesn't sound like the original recording to me at all.

Too bad that guy is a day late and a dollar short. Bested by a 9 year old two months prior:

I just got the game and I was proud of myself that I was beating the game on easy, no problems with any song .

After watching the above videos I can only dream.

Try saving your SP for the sections where you are missing a ton of notes. You won't get as many points, but it should get you through those sections.

It's all about repeat playing. Just started playing the GH games when 3 came out. When I first hit medium, I suffered from the retarded pinky problem, lol. Now, after many hours of playing, I have no problem 5*ing Raining Blood on Medium. It's all about practice, practice, practice.

Hammer-ons and pull-offs. Both techniques are covered in the in-game tutorial.

During the intro, he brings his pick hand over to the fretboard to tap out the notes on the fifth button a la Eddie Van Halen.

As mentioned it's in the tutorial, but what it boils down to is some notes glow white at the top. Those notes don't have to be strummed, BUT you have to hit the note preceeding it in order to not strum the glowing notes. If there is a string of glowing notes you only have to strum the very first.

I went through GHII on easy and medium without learning this. When GHIII came out it became essential. Now I couldn't imagine strumming every note. For practice I recommend Weezer's My Name is Jonas. Just play that over and over and you will get the hang of it.

My tip, which may not be doable for others, is if you want to get better play at the harder level then what you are trying to get good at. I played Medium for about a week and was able to get through all songs, however I was stumbling over some of the harder ones. Going up to Hard made me adjust to play at that speed and made my brain work naturally harder just to do basic stuff such that playing the harder songs on medium (except TTFATF) become almost trivial and almost too slow. I am not saying I became real good at hard, I just played it enough stumbling all the way such that I at least became used to trying to read notes at blazing speed. Just getting used to that much information coming at you makes Medium that much easier. I also found that Hard is at least more melodically natural as the notes you are hearing are the ones you are actually playing. Medium annoys me because in many of the songs the notes you are actually playing dont jive with what you are hearing so you are bound to strictly read the notes instead of listening to the beat.

I would also not hang around on one song too long or feel that you have to finish an earlier song before moving on. I have found that some later songs work on techniques better then their earlier counterparts. So the later song actually teaches you the techniques that the earlier songs assumed you already knew.

And of course practice. I got this game beginning of the month and am working through Hard such that I am now on the group with Cherub Rock and I have 5*'ed probably 1/3 of the songs on Hard and have actually 5*'ed some on Expert as well. And I am still having fun doing it though such that I am not pushing myself so much that it is no longer fun.

Oh yeah, learn Hop On and Pull Off as soon as you can and also learn(not sure of the name off hand) that if you need to play a note further down the fret that you can still hold notes higher on the fret (ie if you need to play Blue, you can hold down Green, Red and Yellow) as this makes the finger gymnastics much easier and some of the patterns easier to consume. These 3 things sped up my learning more than anything else. As mentioned earlier I would use My Name is Jonas on Medium for practice on HOPO(Hop On/Pull Off) techniques and then maybe Pride and Joy or the Aerosmith song for the later technique, however most any song can be used you just have to make a conscience decision to use it.

The other benefit to playing at Hard/Expert is that when dropping down, the notes appear to come at you much, much slower.

fixed your terms. basically it's termed up the fret because the notes go higher as your hand moves up the fret.

I finally got "Intro Solo B" and "One last Solo" down over the weekend on Cliffs of Dover, but I can't put together a perfect run. It's so frustrating because there's no single section that I'm having problems with, it's just a random note here and there. My battle with this song continues.

Ever wonder if it's not you but your guitar? I've never been fully convinced the guitar isn't a culprit.

It could be a little from both - since the two X-Plorers I have are from my GHII days they've got so much mileage on them. I do really like the Les Paul and regret getting the "game only" version the night GHIII came out but oh well.

Michael Corvin got me started trying to FC TTFAF on easy this weekend. My best run was 1100 out of 1102. Dropped one note real early which didn't hurt but the second note dropped was right in the middle. I keep trying for my 1000 note streak. I'm so used to playing Hard and Expert that playing easy is really hard. My timing is off.

Can you explain this one in a little more detail, because I'm just not getting it (and I did go through the tutorial but still don't understand). I understand with the glowing notes I can strum the first note and then simply hit the buttons for each corresponding glowing note, but I'm not sure how the other one works (pull-off?).

Don't worry about leaving your other fingers on. Just play the notes exactly as you would normally, except don't strum. The tutorials (at least for GHII) said to leave your other fingers the buttons on when hammering on, and thus you would still be holding down the right fret when you "pull off" of the button you don't need when you go to the previous button. I never bothered with that. I just play it like nor, just without strumming.

They're the same. One term refers to going up the fret board from Orange to Green and the other refers to going down from Green to Orange.

It took me a few tries. I'd miss one note 700 in and just quit. It's an easy song to get lulled into boredom on easy. Like I said, I had to put my pinky under the fret board to stay focused on just the three notes.
