I don't get the complaint myself, there's several of them, but they all play completely differently. I would love more Treasure shooters.

Thanks! I haven't played enough of Poker Smash to get through all the existing puzzles and environments, so I can hold off on those.

On the other hand, I'm definitely interested in Ikaruga since I've never played it, and as others have said, it's much cheaper to get the XBLA version than it is to find the Dreamcast or Gamecube version these days. I'm looking forward to trying the demo.

DoDonPachi DaiOuJou and Ketsui were denied for XBLA because they're claiming to cut back on arcade ports. So now they're getting a retail release in Japan which means they'll never come out here. It's really ridiculous, if you ask me. Of course, original material like Rocky & Bullwinkle and Happy Tree Friends get the okay. And looking at an upcoming release list we've got Doritos Dash of Destruction on the schedule. Doritos. A game about Doritos. I really hate this fucking industry sometimes.

Well I don't think the Doritos angle is a sound one. That was part of a contest.

Well we've got a The Office XBLA game coming. I'm sure that'll be a gem.

Unless the new pack for Poker Smash includes an easy way to get a 24x combo, I'll pass.

I don't understand why MS wants to limit the number of games on XBLA. The more the merrier I say.

Just tried out the Rocky & Bullwinkle table, awesome stuff. I love the visuals and the table is a blast. I'll download the Poker Smash environments, but not the puzzles.

I don't know why, but I find that to be incredibly adorable.

My gf and I have stopped playing Carcasonne "table top" because I've convinced her it's much easier to clean up if we play on the XBox.

Very true, and i prefer Catan on the 360 for that reason. Carcassonne though isn't that bad to clean up and i enjoy handling the tiles. I also have several free tiles i got through various magazines that aren't available on the Live version.

I think it was on Retronauts they were discussing it, and more in regards to Wii VC, but I'm sure it applies to XBLA. It would seem things like getting an ESRB rating (and the equivalent in other countries) are surprisingly expensive (to some). I think well over $10k was stated. Basically, it came down to if a game was only going to sell a small number of copies, say 5,000, then it wouldn't be worth releasing it. Such is the way of the world.

Ya, that's what gets us to play it still. Got the "big box" with the expansions. I refuse to pay for those as DLC, way overpriced.

Yeah i flipped when i saw them selling the River separately when it is available packaged with the game in the tabletop version. Same thing with the King and Scout expansion on Live - selling like 4 tiles was just silly.

So what happens if a downloadable game is not officially rated by the ESRB? Would Microsoft refuse to distribute it?

I didn't think any of the platforms would allow an unrated game on their console. They won't allow AO games either.

Ikaruga turned out nicely, so my favorite PSX game (SotN) and favorite Dreamcast game (Ikaruga) are out, so uh.. Panzer Dragoon Saga? Anyone?

So if I still have the gamecube version of Ikaruga (which I can play on the Wii) is there any value to upgrading to the Xbox Live arcade version?

Let's see.. the story segments that were cut out of the US GameCube version should be back in, there are improved visuals, tate mode if you have a rotatable TV/monitor, all the usual XBLA features (leaderboards, achievements, etc.) are included and there's online co-op.

Personally I'd put my $10 down as a vote to convince Treasure to go through with the XBLA version of Radiant Silvergun they hinted at. Of course, Microsoft would probably deny that in favor of their upcoming XBLA versions of Wife Swap and America's Top Model.

Retronaut's thoughts were that Nintendo was too concerned about image to have unrated content available on their console. I would say that the same applies to MS as well, like xmiyux said.

Not to mention that you come out $25-$30 ahead after you sell your GC version.
