The XBLA Thread

From a suggestion in the XBOX 360 thread to shift XBLA discussion and leave room for games.

I think I'm done buying for now, nothing else really interests me enough to buy from XBLA. I'll be recharging points in 3-4 months and seeing what else is out.

I ended up getting the following for $97 (comes out to an average of $8.81 a game):

Bomberman
Tetris
Cascassone
Billiards
Geon
Pinball
Worms
Golf
Puzzle Fighter
Boom Boom Rocket
Puzzle Quest (as soon as it comes out)

From the arcade stick I have: ($30.XX after tax)
Time Pilot
Astropop (favorite game)
Frogger

From the camera bundle ($58.XX including 1 year gold, camera, spare headset):
Uno
Robotron

From the XBOX Live Arcade Unplugged Volume 1 game disc ($9):
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved
Wiki: Fable of Souls
Bejeweled 2
Outpost Kaloki X
Hardwood Backgammon (love this game)
Texas Hold 'Em

And of course Hexic HD (free with console) and Aegis Wing (free on Live)

I'll play anyone anywhere anything I'm usually on Wednesday and Thursday nights and throughout the day on the other days of the week.

OK, let's see... I have:

Assault Heroes
Pac-Man CE
Cascassone
Bomberman Live
Puzzle Fighter
Uno
Robotron
Joust
Small Arms
Dig-Dug
Zuma
Billiards
Castlevania SOTN
Ageis Wing (of course, it's free)

Plus the 6 games on the Live Arcade Unplugged disc

Will probably get Puzzle Quest on Wed (even though I already have it on the PSP)
and will absolutely buy Undertow whenever the %$# it comes out.

I have almost every game that came out until about August of this year. With Halo 3, Bioshock, and Mass Effect, I'll be holding off until next year until buying this year's releases, with the exception of Puzzle Quest.

I might get Undertow too, if it's out this fall.

Decker, we have so many games in common we should set up a game night (or day, because you probably don't want to do it Wednesday or Thursday nights )

I have about 25-30 or so, I won't list 'em. Still playing Pac Man: CE religiously. According to 360Voice I've played it 63 days.

I do still need to get Puzzle Fighter. I may give Puzzle Quest a shot as well.

I only have a handful of games.

Aegis Wing
Bomberman Live
Puzzle Fighter
Street Fighter 2
TMNT
Boom Boom Rocket
Gauntlet (boy, that was a mistake)
Geometry Wars
Small Arms

Haven't reclaimed my 2 free XBLA games yet though.

I'll list my 40 XBLA games today, after I get them transferred over to my new Elite.

Yeah, it's a fun little site. It's nice to see how often you play each game(well, on a daily basis).

Weird, I was just thinking about doing a thread like this with all the talk in the 360 forum. I would love to see everyone's thoughts and personal ratings on their games (not on trial versions but games you actually have the complete version of).

My Arcade games so far:

Hexic HD: Don't know how I got this one. Maybe it was included free with my special Halo 360 but the whole game was just sitting there. I gave it a try and it is one that could grow on me. I like how the marathon section can just go on and on. Definitely have to spend more time with it to make a final decision but it seems to have very limited gameplay. Rating so far: C+

Pac-Man Championship: Crack, crack, crack. My first Arcade purchase and I find myself playing it in my head. Kinda of like normal Pac-man mixed with Ms. Pac-man mixed with various other Pac-man's over the years. I would have rather paid just $5 for it but I enjoy playing it so much (with the limited time I have had with it so far) that I don't feel ripped off for paying $10. I do wish they have a "Free Play" version where it is not timed. I feel like I am doing great and then the 10 minute timer goes off. Crap. I want to keep going. If there is a regular game version that I am somehow overlooking, let me know. Rating so far: A-

Pinball FX: This should definitely be a $5 title. I feel a little ripped off by paying $10 after playing the other two tables. I don't remember the names of the tables but the Car one is decent, the James Bond one is the best (in my opinion) and the Hip-hop/skateboard(?) one is worthless. On the car table you can kinda figure out the goals and the James Bond one does this the best. James Bond is also the most spaced out table. The Hip-hop table is so crammed together that it makes the gameplay sucky.

I only spent a little time on each and maybe my opinion will change after more playtime. The physics are great and it really handles like a real table. The graphics are decent but the value and gameplay is only so-so when you average the 3 tables all together. I would label it a $5 value unless they add some more tables (which they better let me have and not charge me for...yeah, right). Rating so far: C-

I will probably send some of you guys that have the same games some friend invites so we can compare Leaderboard/Friends scores. I find that is the best part of the few games I have so far...seeing what another person has and trying to beat it (except for those crazy unknown people who rank in the top 5 of all Leaderboards. How the hell do they score billions of points on Pinball, Pac-man and such. Woah!).

Future definite buys when I get some more points:
Ms. Pac-man (required buy)
Time Pilot
Uno

I will most definitely download a trial version of every game to see if they warrant a purchase but I only plan to buy stuff I really like since I got a little burned by the Pinball game.

brian : Hexic HD comes with the hard drive. Everyone has it. And that's probably the reason almost nobody was that thrilled with the idea of Hexic 2 costing 800 points, even though I imagine multiplayer is fun. Too bad they made the colors so drab in the sequel.

Confirmed by IGN and D3D (the publisher).

You can expect it on Wednesday for 1200 MS points, or $15 real life dollars.

I have a little bit of a hard time spending 1200 pts on a game I already bought on the PSP. Still, I did re-buy MUA after I got a 360, and since the bug in the PSP version of Puzzle Quest annoys me a little (even though it's not a big deal), I'll probably still pick this up. I have like 5000 points still stockpiled; why not use some on a game I love? Has online play been confirmed? Will it be battles against others or a co-op quest?

I play Uno A LOT. How does the true skill work. Mine is 26 but it has stayed there whether I win or lose. My goal is to be the #1 ranked Uno player. Could take a while since I am around 20,000. lol

I still have 8000 points from the CC B1G1 deal. 1200 ain't nothing for me for this game.

Online play is confirmed: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/p/pu...de/default.htm
I can't imagine there is any co-op, so it'll just be head-to-head.

Hexic is one of my favourite XBLA games but Hexic 2 was the biggest piece of shit I've ever played...HATED it.

I should have purchased more but I was travelling that week.
