I like that they added 3 Wiiware games, but of course the three they added are of no interest. I will take a look at the Art Style game maybe it will be cooler than it sounds.

Yeah, but the argument is normally around the VC anyway. All those consoles and titles and we get SimEarth for the TG-CD? Really?

Re: The One and Only Virtual Console Thread (Wii)

I imagine that the VC stuff is tangled in legal tape. Tracking down who exactly owns rights to what, and then working out agreements is not worth the time.

Add up the hours of legal wrangling, then the costs of porting the game over probably works out to little if any profit. So they don't even bother.

This is not what they said on Retronauts. Jerry Parish said he had talked to a publisher that had submitted several titles for release on VC and none had made it out yet. They have no way of knowing when Nintendo will get around to releasing their title and it can sometimes take months. There are definitely enough titles in the pipeline to release more than 1 a week.

Re: The One and Only Virtual Console Thread (Wii)

Yeah, I've read of numerous developers and publishers (for both VC and WiiWare) that have okayed and submitted their games long ago, pretty much just waiting for Nintendo to put their games up - a lot of the games that have gone up were ready months, if not a year, before they went up. Nintendo's just doing their own enigmatic thing as they always do.

I ended up buying Neves Plus. It is basically a Tangram puzzle game with a cool Egyptian theme. For 600 points (3 Pepsi caps) it was a must buy.

Re: The One and Only Virtual Console Thread (Wii)

So you can get Wii points for Pepsi caps? How does that work? Three Pepsi caps for 600 points seems like a great deal, considering that's like $6.00 worth of points. Can you elaborate? I've never connected my Wii to the net before but it's something I'm considering doing very soon.

Also, have they started porting over N64 games that required the expansion pack to VC yet? I want Donkey Kong 64 very badly.

Buy any pepsi product with a Rock Band cap. Go to pepsirockband.com and enter the code. Use your point to try and win a track. I think it is instant win as I am 12 for 12 so far. If you win it will tell you to choose your track. Choose any Wii track and it will give you a code. The code is for 200 Nintendo points and can be used for anything on the Wii or DSi.

They are giving out 5,000 tracks per day. So every cap is not a winner. It just happens that either 1) there aren't many people playing right now, or 2)people are trying for the bigger prizes instead of the DLC. So either of those or both is contributing to the current 1:1 win ratio right now.

Yeah, I am trying to cash in now while it is 1:1. I figure word about this is getting out and the 5000 tracks may start going faster. So far though I have been perfect on it. I just cashed in my 13th cap earlier.

Played a lot more of Neves and this is a great tangram game. 500+ puzzles, 4 player co-op and a few optional modes to try. Egyptian theme is cool, but the music gets repetitive so this is becoming a good podcast listening game. This game wasn't quite this good on DS and was $29.99 when it came out so this one is a steal for 600 points.

Bought Life Force (NES) today... just as fun as I remember it!

Is that the best side scrolling shooter on the VC? Or is one of the Turbo 16 better?

I like Life Force because it switches between side scrolling and overhead action. But it still has the slowdown problem when too much is going on on the screen - just like the original NES.

I'd like to get Gradius (one of my favorites) and/or maybe the new Gradius Rebirth (WiiWare).

I already have a good Sudoku game on DS so nothing for me this week. I'm glad they are now bumping the number of Wiiware titles every week, but really wish they would do the same for DSi and VC.

Race through three racing cups across 10 courses set in five mythic landscapes. Use awesome fantasy weaponry to defeat your opponents: tridents, fireballs, Zeus's lightning rods and more. Get your friends together for intense two-to-four-player split-screen multiplayer action in Championship, Single Race or Battle mode.

Move them horizontally or vertically, but be careful not to create an unusable non-number in the process. Choose from one of three modes: eliminate a set amount of numbers as quickly as possible in ZEROSUM MODE; get rid of prearranged groups of numbers in as few moves as possible in PUZZLE MODE; or continue removing numbers until your game is over in INFINITE MODE. In addition, you can challenge an opponent to a two-player wireless battle in VS MODE and see whose number-crunching skills reign supreme. If you think you're a master with numbers, the straightforward yet challenging world of Art Style: BASE 10 gives you the opportunity to prove it in a unique way.

Then race your way through eight of the most renowned cities, fully rendered in 3-D. Control your speed machine with either standard or touch-screen controls for precision driving. Photos taken with the Nintendo DSi™ Camera can be used as your personal icon or can appear throughout the various environments, including the garage where you can customize and tune your vehicles. From New York to Shanghai, Paris to Dubai, you'll weave a course through busy streets in six kinds of races plus four-player Multiplayer mode. Avoid police, demolish competitors and pass the leader to win. You'll need to floor it at every straightaway and push every drift to the limit to stay one step ahead and become the ultimate VIP of urban racing.
I know there'll be some excitement over the new Bit.Trip game, and I'm happy for you, but I don't think I can bother continuing these updates. I feel so unfulfilled. Anybody feel like taking it over so I can just forget it? I just get it from http://press.nintendo.com/ every Monday morning.

It's like they added the C-64 to the VC just so they can continue to release crap for it - because otherwise they might actually have to put out some more SNES or NeoGeo games.

I'm very excited for the new Bit Trip game, Art Style Base 10, and (to a lesser degree) California Games. I had California Games waaay back in the day on my crappy PC and loved it.

Sudoku Grid Master. It came and went on DS without much notice. The reviews on it were kind of mixed. Mostly because the interface wasn't the same as the one in Brain Age. I adjusted to it though and really like this game. Hundreds of puzzle and some challenge modes. I have been playing it off and on for a couple of years and I'm still only 3/4 of the way through the puzzles. I was from Hudson as well so it looks like the DSi game may just be a smaller version of this game.

For this week Bust a Move and Base10 look interesting, but bit.trip core may be a must buy. Good week for everything but poor VC. Just one game again.

Pulseman is very tempting. Game Freak is obviously a great developer and those Sega Channel only games are always interesting to discover.
