They really need to pick up their VC titles to more A caliber material. I don't even remember the last game that came out that I liked. Where's my Blaster Master?

I think the ESRB rating process is voluntary and not mandatory the same as the MPAA rating process. Obviously not having your game rated would stop it from hitting store shelves, but, in a case like VC, this is a moot point.

Even if it is voluntary $15,000 is just ridiculous. They don't even play the game all the way through do they? Aren't they just sent a DVD of the most offensive material?

That is correct, they watch it like a movie. I believe they have some way of asking questions to the producers of the game, either right then or through correspondence to clarify what can be done/seen/etc, but for the most part, it's just sitting there watching it.

Anyone know about the following series if/when why/why not on being released?

Any Square/Enix game?
Super Starwars Trilogy?
Metal Slug?

And is it just me or has anyone else never played a Squaresoft game since they abandoned Nintendo for Sony?

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a Metal Slug or two in the future as it seems viable after the Anthology failed to move many units, plus 1 for $8 would put all 6 at $48, and the Anthology itself is only $40. That said, being able to use the classic controller may piss off people who bought the Anthology.

I dunno, I'd rather see Shock Troopers on there anyhow.

SMS titles are confirmed for NA finally: http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/25/wo...h-american-vc/

We know we're getting Wonder Boy and Fantasy Zone for only 400 points.

Nice.

I wonder if Nintendo or Sega set that price point. I can imagine that conversation..... "well, we dominated your ass in the 80's. To show that we still think you were inferior then, we'll set the price point of your games at $4 instead of $5 like from our wonderful NES library."

I'd pick up Dragon Crystal if it was released.

I loved Bases Loaded. Played it hundreds of hours and was such a big geek I actually had a spiral notebook and kept the stats for every game so I would know what the season stats were for my players. I played this until I got Hardball on the Genesis and did the same stat tracking for that game as well. I was really happy when they started included stat tracking in the actual games.

Bases Loaded was really solid at the time, not sure how it's aged.

Mega Turrican for me!

I played and loved Turricans One and Two, and Mega is essentially Turrican 3, and I've never played it, so instant purchase for me.

Same here! I also did that for Micro League Baseball on my Apple II E.

Just finished Fantasy Zone. The game still rocks! Also one of the greatest and

saddest
endings in 8-bit gaming!

Bring on the Fantasy Zone sequels Sega!

Double Dragon used to be a favorite of mine. A real precursor to Streets of Rage. Knee him in the face a few times, and toss him over the shoulder...

Remember, this is the weird ass NES port of Double Dragon. The one with hearts before you learn moves and such. But if you can get fifty thousand on it, you might just well be a Wizard.
