I'm trying to get some achievements before heading into Point Prometheus. What gives with the jackpot?
Just save up as much money as you can and then start gambling... The jackpot acheievement is when you get " $ $ $ ", which will net you 250 bucks. It's totally random, some people will get it their second try, some will need to constantly gamble. Good luck. Just stand in front of a machine and keep hitting the use button.

Ohhh, so it is the "$ $ $" jackpot - okay, I'll go back and try it - it was bugging me after a while - I'm just clearing up some "research" achievements now - thanks man!

well, i bought Bioshock on day one -- i think it is a good game, but I just don't dig it like everyone else seems to. i am near the end, but i have to make myself play it since i spent so much money on it. i definitely should have rented.

It took me a while to get that one. I finally ended up getting it on the bottom floor of the casino at the machine to the left of the one that was destroyed on the floor (although, it sounds like it makes no difference).

I got the jackpot achievement on my first try.

What is the purpose of using sinks, toilets, etc?

If you don't know, I'm sure not inviting you over to my house!

(In the game, they have no purpose).

This can happen, but I think the game is definitely the game of the year. This is like playing Half Life 2 (without the irritating driving parts) for the first time for me. I never want the game to end. I'm backtracking through trying to find every tape recorder, trying to hack everything possible and trying to find every hidden thing possible to get the complete story. I'm usually bored of FPS games quickly, but to me this isn't a FPS game. To me this is an excellent point and click adventure game with guns.

Am I the only one that feels a twinge of guilt/sadness when you see a Big Daddy banging on the wall for the missing Little Sister that you just saved? :-(

You should of thought about that before you killed one of them.

So I finished this leisurely on easy and really, really enjoyed it. I tried to jump to hard and give it a go, but it was so frustrating that I found it almost unplayable. I'm sure it gets a lot easier when you get your skills and powers up, but the frustration really saps the enjoyment out of it for me.

Maybe I'll try again, but it was nice to explore and take in Rapture without really worrying about fighting 15 splicers with little health and one plazmid. Ah well... I'm actually debating trading it and going back to it in a year or so once the price comes down.

Has anyone experienced any hangs when playing Bioshock? I am probably about 10 hours into it and it has hung twice. I just got my refurbished system back from Microsoft, so I hope it isn't about to die already.

totally freeze? Or kind of a hiccup? In the first two hours I had it stutter a few times, but not since.

Totally freeze...hang...dead...kaput. I'm going to be pissed if this system is already about to die.

Was there a checkerboard pattern on screen, or did the graphics look normal? If they looked normal, it might just be a bug in the game. The checkerboard effect seems to be a common precursor to the dreaded red ring.

Didn't want to read the whole thread for fear of spoilers, but I ran across a glitch where no matter what I did I couldn't complete all three little sisters from the first area so I just moved on. Should I just start over or does this even affect the ending?

That has happened to me 4 times when playing. Twice after harvesting little sisters it's completely frozen up on the greenish/black screen. If you go back to about page 2 or 3 I complained about this on the first day of release. Anyway, it pauses for a moment, and then the disc stops spinning.

The graphics look normal when it happens. I just hope it doesn't happen any more. The last time it happened I lost at least 20 minutes worth of progerss.

So for with me no glitches or freeze ups at all. There has been a couple of times I played three hours straight and still ok. I do have my power box away from the unit and in the open for more air flow.

Same thing here, too - the game was freezing up every once and a while...I never had any freezing issues at all...never had any issues with my 360.

After searching for BioShock issues, I came across the BioShock 2K forum. After reading about problems, I followed the advice / directions of a 2K Tech who posts on the 2K forums: 2K Tech attempts to fix 360 freezing issues

After I followed his directions, my 360 died...immediately -

Another poster had the same experience: read here -

RRoD from Bioshock? Say it ain't so!

I was waiting for the RROD a couple of times when playing this. Things got very choppy, and froze up a couple of times, but always came back online right away.

The game just froze up on me for the first time last night. No rrod or anything, game just completely froze mid game. It was fine after a restart but I lost about 15-20 minutes of game play due to where my save was.
