Are some of the tonics random drops found on splicers?

Last night, I found a tonic that...

Spoiler:
allows you to perform and additional search to get more loot.

It popped up during a battle, so I wasn't sure where I got it exactly. But I had to reload a previous save and now I can't find any trace of it in that area. Not a big concern, I'm just curious.

No Tonics show up as random drops on regular enemies, although I think there are one or two that only show up after you defeat certain bosses.

The Tonic you mention is called Scrounger and you get it by

Spoiler:
researching Leadhead Splicers.

Thanks. That makes sense now that I think about it and recall what I was doing at the time.

I love the scrounger. WEll, unless I take a gamble when I've got a lot of $$ in my first search and lose it all for a piece of rubber hose instead

I think that door opens via a remote button. Look behind you when facing the door. Is there a bar/counter there? If so, look on the left side of it for a button. I may be thinking of another door, but there is one like that in that part of the game.

Thanks for the information, Flay.

These are the three that I am missing:

I can't seem to be able to find the one under Engineering. Can someone give me exact details where it is? If I missed it the first time around, is it possible that it is no longer there?

Also, for the ones that I have to buy at GG, now that I have gone through most of the game, how do I get enough adam to buy those? Also, are some only available at certain GGs? Is it better for me to check the later ones? I've got 50 out of 53 so I would like to finish it off.

The only other achievement that I might be able to get is the avid inventor, but I have no idea how many more I need for that achievement.

OK, an update on my last post, I was able to get the one at the dentists office, which means there are only two tonics left, both of which I can buy at GG machines apparently. As I said above, the problem is I have no adam. I can get a ton of adam when I fight the big bad, but I don't think that I can back via elevator (unless I was looking in the wrong place). Another issue is that the couple of GG machines that I went to while wandering around didn't have those tonics, so I am thinking that they might be specific to certain machines.

Help!

If you have spent all of your Adam and have no Little Sisters left, you are pretty much screwed. You would have to backtrack to an old save, if you have multiple saves.

As for the GG machine, start at the last machine and work backwards for the cheapest price. But I'm pretty sure the two you need are sold very early on in the game for 20 Adam each.

Damn, I thought I was almost done, but not yet...
Spoiler:
I just became a Big Daddy, and am now following the little sister around. Took me forever for some reason to find all the parts.

Crap, I only have 10 Adam left. Oh well, so close, but yet so far. I think that I will probably calls a quits on the game, since I've played it through twice now. I just wish that I could come back with all of that extra Adam that I get from the last boss fight.

In case he doesn't show back up, I reported the post so a mod can edit it so hopefully it isn't ruined for anyone else.

I guess you didn't bother to read the first post in this thread. Also, is it really necessary to insult someone over a video game spoiler?

It was a pretty heinous spoiler....And you've obviously never been to the TV forum, where you can get ripped for discussing a commercial that is playing in regular rotation for the next episode!

Those who have played the game know that's not much of a spoiler. People just think it is.

I'm on the last area and I had no idea. I think it's a pretty big spoiler. Discussing spoilers about levels and gameplay, items and what not are one thing, but giving away [potentially] the ending is kinda wrong... at least within a few weeks of release.

You just made my point. People THINK it's a big spoiler.

I knew about that "spoiler", after taking a peek at the secret achievements, before starting the game. It spoiled nothing when I actually got there.

I really don't see what the big deal is regarding the "spoiler":
Spoiler:
You need to find a suit and a few other things to help convince a little sister that you're a Big Daddy in order to move on.

IMO it's not much different from finding out you need a keycard to access a door, or anything else along those lines.

Fair enough.

In related news I
Spoiler:
met Ryan last night and got an achievement for killing him.
That's kinda weak since it's just a cut scene and I didn't get to do anything.

I read the spoiler... ok, my apologies. VSDoom, you're not a "fucking ass-clown". I completely take it back.

But Im sure it could be construed as a major spoiler for those of us that haven't gotten to that point in the game yet.

Again, sorry.

I didnt even realize what I posted was such a big spoiler as it didn't even occur to me that it was one, but for everyone I pissed off, I'm sorry.

Back to it, this game is way too addictive. Started last night at 10:30 p.m. saying I'd go until 11ish. Checked the clock quickly and it was 12:15 a.m. Whoa. I'm in Arcadia, just killed to Daddies and have no weapons and barely any Adam. SUCH great stuff...

Quick question about the "jackpot" achievement:

Can it be any jackpot, or does it have to be three "$ $ $" to be a jackpot - I could swear that, earlier in the game, I hit a "jackpot" my first with three red apples - but I checked my achievement list and it still mentions I need a jackpot achievement. I'm trying to get some achievements before heading into Point Prometheus. What gives with the jackpot?
