I certainly must be doing something wrong .
The only thing I can think of is that you gave everyone the wrong friend code and we've all entered in the wrong one for you. If everything else online (Wii Shop, Voting Channel, etc.) is working that's the only thing I could think of that would be left, it's generally a pretty simple setup.

Well, I ended up connecting to the Wii store, just to make sure that my internet settings weren't the problem, and immediately after doing that, 5 people in the friends list showed up black instead of grey. Very odd.

I think that's what's happening. Once the people that you've added add you back and connect online, it should update. Over the next few days, you should see your list update as people add you and go online.

I'm thankful for the dip in games I want to play right now. The reason I get frustrated with the Metroid games is all the backtracking but I still enjoy all the games. I know it's weird and makes little sense. I'm not getting frustrated with the game but I do get tired of seeing the same things over and over. I am going to try out my other two GameFly rentals when they arrive here soon and keep Metroid on the back burner for a bit. All of them go back on September 24th so if I don't beat it by then I'll rent it again on down the road.

As Puzznic said, you do. If you're stuck on how to fight it, scan it and then hit the 1 button to view the details in the logbook. The text that shows up in the regular scan isn't too helpful, but the logbook entry will give you a lot of detail on what to do. If you read that and still have problems, I can post a clue behind spoiler tags.

I knew if I trolled my entire repertoire of Metroid fan sites I'd find somebody ripping the soundtrack. Oh, my sweet Rundas Battle Theme, why are you so good? And why aren't you on the damn sound test? Hopefully Nintendo releases as official soundtrack for this one, I'm still mad that they didn't release one for Prime 2.

I read the logbook (generally do for bosses after I scan them).

Spoiler:
I took out all the tentacles and then started shooting it (tried everything i had) and didn't get anywhere.

Finally sat down and got some decent playtime in last night and this morning. I defeated
Spoiler:
Mogenor or however you spell it, and the Defense Drone. I just got up to getting the AU back online and uncorrupted in Skytown, and about to go after Ghor. I love using the grapple beam as a zipline.

Spoiler:
After shooting the tentacles you have to shoot at it while its mouth is open before it starts releasing Metroids. This will stun it which should allow you to rip off one of its tentacles (man, I love doing that), repeat three more times.

You could turn off the "Free Aim" option to switch back to the classic Prime lock-on scheme if you want to. I was tempted to at first as I found it hard to pay attention to the crosshair during a hot and heated battle but I eventually settled into it.

I've sent friend vouchers to everyone on the Friends list that appears in black (which, at this point, was only PixyJunket and MasterofDVD). I have 9 more to trade, so let me know if you want them.

Ok I returned the game back and still had it freeze and reset on me. Upside is after I passed the level the resetting stopped. Also I updated my sig to include the Wii code. I've printed out the list and I'll add people tonight.

thanks for the update. I haven't encountered a reset in the last couple of plays after i switched my Wii from vertical to horizontal so I dunno if that's it. (I had reset issues even on Elysia)

Additions (or updates) from the last list are marked with a tilde.

The game uses your standard WiiConnect24 code to connect to other owners of Metroid Prime 3 to trade friend tokens for unlocking extras. You MUST turn this on in your Metroid Prime 3 extras menu first and foremost.. then you will have access to your friend list and anyone on there with a copy of the game will appear in black. Clicking on a name allows you send a token to that person. Be sure to send a token in return for receiving one! Also, if you are adding people to your list, be sure to indicate exactly who you are adding (or if you are adding everyone) so that the corresponding parties can add you in turn.

Someone refresh my memory...how do we get friend tokens to send? I have received several, but only had 2 to send out.

Also...
Spoiler:
The fight with Rundas on Byrro is a pain!! Any tips on how to easily defeat the guy, I already use the grapple and then phazon to knock him down.....but I always end up dying.

Go to your Friend List in the Extra menu and click on a blackened name.

Spoiler:
Keep a lock on him and practice dodging, remember that moving to the side while locked on and tapping the jump button will have you dash to the side, a most excellent technique. Once you can avoid taking damage well enough you shouldn't have any problems actually beating him.

I think I remember breaking his armor then switching to PED mode, and I torched him really quick with the Phazon shots.

So I got a few more hours in just now, and
Spoiler:
I defeated Ghor, got the plasma beam, and just saved and turned it off for a little bit after getting the screw attack. I loved melting the robots on Skytown. Ghor was pretty easy too. Rundas has been the hardest boss battle for me so far. I've only dead in one other boss battle, and against Rundas I died four or five times.

Anyways, this game just gets better and better. Definitely recommended if you have a Wii, or if you're thinking about getting a Wii and you just need that one great game to influence you to drop the $300 for it all.
