Yes, that's what the new sprites look like.
However, as far as I'm aware, they're not adding any new frames of animation. So, it may look a little odd. Still stoked for it though.

It's still much better than the "blurry vision" that other companies try to pass off as HD on some of the coin-op classics on XBLA which basically makes it look like you're playing the game through a glass of milk. Take a look at the screenshots for Puzzle Fighter HD even.. the backgrounds and gems look clean and crisp and then the characters look like they've got inch-thick pieces of cellophane paper covering them.

I checked my UPS tracking number for my 360 that I sent back to Microsoft and it showed that it was delivered this morning. Just out of curiosity I called the 800 number to see if my new one had shipped. Interestingly enough the computer "Max" said that they received my old system and have sent out my new one and I should get it in 5 business days.

I decided to continue on to try to speak to a somewhat more intelligible person to try to get the tracking number for my new system. It took about 10 minutes for them to understand that my new system had already shipped according to the automated message. They kept asking me stuff like "You are calling us because your Xbox 360 is scratching your discs, correct?", when in fact I sent it in because of disc read errors and the occasional RROD. So for whatever reason they can't even give me a tracking number or even verify that my new system has shipped even though their automated system claimed that it has.

I would've been able to avoid all this if their system would've let me do the service request online, but every time I tried I just get some message about there being a technical problem and that I would need to call in my request.

Fuck. I hate Microsoft.

Hmm... the "HDness" of it is nice, but I'm not too sure if I dig the art style.

Yeah, the online system for checking repairs (service.xbox.com) is extremely buggy. Yesterday I got an email saying that my system was received at the service center, and today I checked the site and my old serial number is gone with a new one appearing in its place. It claims that this new device is "out of warranty" with no pending repairs. I'm assuming it's the replacement system, but the site doesn't communicate this in any way. I also called the number, and good ol' "Max" said that I have "multiple repair requests" and that I would be transferred to a representative. I waited on hold for 30 minutes and then hung up. They definitely need to work on the site and add more explanations about what the true status of your repair is.

For whatever reason, they contracted out to redo the backgrounds on Puzzle Fighter HD, but not the actual characters. I don't care, because it's all in the gameplay for that one, and I love me some Puzzle Fighter, even if I do suck at it.

I just dropped my 360 off at UPS so hopefully by Wednesday I will have some good news.

I agree that service site is buggy I tried last weekend to do my reapir request there but it never worked I kept get errors after I would enter all of my information. It does list my system now but some of the information is wrong or not there and when I edit it I get an error too. The address listed is correct so that is all I care about.

Is anyone else playing TMNT? I Gameflyed it and have torn through most of the game in one night. I'm stuck though at some stupid fucking jumping puzzle on the last level that makes me want to break something.

If anyone else has played this steaming turd of a game for the easy achievement points let me know. I could seriously use some tips on this puzzle.

I tore through it in a day too from GF. I don't recall a jumping puzzle on the last level though. I just sort of blazed through it.

What kind of puzzle is it?

I'm playing it. It's not at total turd. I mean it looks good, I like the way the turtles move, and what little fighting they -mercifully include- is fun. However, the TIMED running and jumping with jacked up camera angles(90% of the game) SUCKS all kinds on ass and not in a good way.

I'm sooo tired of game makers depending on bad camera angles to "challenge" players.

Anyway, what part are you on? The area with the ledges that retract when the laser fires? I'm still working my way through that one.

For being essentially a brawler there is very little fighting. You are right though, the move fluidly and when the game is going well it is kind of fun to play (eg. leaping rooftop to rooftop). However the roughest enemy in the game is the stupid camera that you can't control.

Yes, I am stuck with the retracting platforms. I made it to the first safe room with little problems bounding from platform to platform. The door opens to the safe room and there are platforms to my left but they don't come out.

I was using Michaelangelo to double jump, then hover for a few seconds, hit the X button to have someone throw me further into a wall and hover again. I make it to a big yellow retracting platform where you have to wall bounce between two pipes and make it up a to another small platform. The the left of that small non-retracting platform is one already in the wall.

Nothing i can do can get me any farther. I tried wall running and can't make it to anything. I tried double jumping -> hover -> co-op throw -> hover and the laser fires and kills me. I literally spent 40 minutes on just that section today and finally turned it off before i destroyed something.

Not since Voodoo Vince have i been so frustrated at a stupid ass jumping puzzle.

The Bioshock thread is too full of spoilers... I need to avoid it until Tuesday!

miyu, this may sound stupid, but have you tried just waiting in the safe room? I did something once when I skipped the room and tried to keep going to get a coin but I died. Next time, I just said "fug it" and went into the safe room. When it reloaded, I was in the exact same spot but it was much easier to go since I wasn't fighting the platform.

I think that's what happened, it was like 2 weeks ago and it didn't leave much of an impression other than "PoP with Shells".

Over the 40 minutes on this part i did wait in the room for a couple minutes, then i tried waiting on the platform outside the room for a little bit to see if the other platforms would ever come back out. From what i could see they wouldn't even being popping back out until i got 1/2 across that huge chasm. I wondered if it was glitching though, because no other puzzle/section in the game has been difficult at all and then this section seemed nigh impossible. This evening i'll start the level over again and see if anything is corrected.

Fuck you TMNT. Fuck you.

After another 30 minutes i got the timing exactly right to make it to the second safe room. It is bloody ridiculous. You use Michaelangelo doing the method i mentioned earlier, bounce up the pipes (beginning with the left pipe), you make a short jump to the first ledge and immediately double jump to wall run. I dropped onto one of the platforms as it was retracting to double jump and wall run again. You then have to switch to Rafael to scale a wall. However you can't start scaling at the bottom, you have to run up the wall and trigger the climb and you will squeak into the safe room by a split second.

A bunch of crap.

I did it all with Rafael... the bouncing up the pipes with out jumping out into the middle was the hardest part for me.

Side Note: I'm planning on purchasing a Premium tomorrow, on the off-chance that I can manage to find one with HDMI. Although I would prefer to hold off, and wait until the unit has switched over to the 65 nm GPU/CPU, the call of Bioshock, Halo 3, and others is simply too great.

That having been said, what is the best warranty to purchase, in the event that something should happen (be it RRoD, or some other trivial problem). The extended warranty from Microsoft? One from Best Buy? Wal-Mart?

I would appreciate whatever help could be given. Thank you, in advance...

I'm of the opinion that the included three-year warranty is enough. Costco's return policy is great, but their bundles are terrible right now, and almost certainly don't have HDMI Premiums.

Best Buy has a good service plan... The up-side is that you can exchange it the same day. Depending on the location, they'll even transfer over the Service Plan.

I rented TMNT and it was really mediocre, but I got some fun out of it. The achievements were easy, but there were a few hard parts during the game - mainly just because the controls sucked and it was hard to jump from one thing to another (I guess the same thing that's being discussed in this thread - the part where you jump from pipe to pipe in the sewer was a bitch, to say the least.)

I felt the same way... but order at Amazon and guarantee yourself that HDMI. Why not at least get the better heat synch and have a chance at better life, even though nobody knows for sure?

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Console-2...7530290&sr=8-1

It wasn't all that much extra for me to do 2 day shipping and it got here quickly.

I personally went with the MS warranty.
