For those interested in Two Worlds, I have some opening impressions after my first hour in:
This game is some sort of cross between Oblivion and the dreadful Dungeon Lords for the PC.
- There are excellent stat building qualities and a fine armor/weapon/inventory section. That's one aspect of the game I'm really enjoying.
- The GUI is really painful to navigate, especially the map section. This game is in desperate need of a free form selection tool.
- The presentation leaves much to be desired. The opening scene is incredibly bland and lacks a buildup to the protagonist's purpose. They leave you with a vague quest about finding your sister and bits & pieces of the story. It's a sad shell of Oblivion's grand narrative.
- I really don't think the voice acting is to blame in this game. There are several decent voices so far. It's the writing that's just plain horrific. The phrasing is absolutely abrupt and often seems confusing. Plus I've already noticed two or three misspelled words. The creative writer for this title is a complete hack.
- Riding the horse is an exercise in futility. As you push the thumbstick forward, the horse starts to gallop faster and faster. The problem that arises is turning the horse. Far too often, the horse just won't respond when I push the stick left or right. I have to completely stop the horse, turn it into the direction I'm traveling, then push forward. Walking seems faster at times.
- The graphical problems are vastly more annoying than anyone has said. Even before I started, I performed maintenance on the hard drive and I cleared the temp cache using the A button method. The hitching often brings the entire world to a stuttering pace and even halting completely at times. My 360 as locked up twice so far in the past hour. When I teleport, I just cross my fingers and pray that the 360 doesn't freeze due to the overkill of lighting effects.
- The multiplayer matches I've participated in so far are lag filled nightmares, mostly due to players either dropping out or getting kicked off the server. I've tried out the horse racing, deathmatch and assault modes.
I'm desperately trying to become involved within Two Worlds and find something to hang onto, but it's gradually becoming tougher the more I play. I'm building up quite the archer at the moment. I found the guy that teaches archery skills on the southern path from the opening town. I've bought the last two skills I need and buffed them up slightly as well.
Anyway, just a few opening thoughts. Right now, it's a rental at best. I'll let you guys know if that changes.

I dont see why they need that much 'system space' when its not even an operating system.
The damn box will run without a hard drive! The space taken has nothing to do with normal system functions.

Flay is being to nice about Two Worlds...the game is unplayable. The graphics make my eyes hurt, you can't figure out what the hell anything is in the menus or quests, you can't fight ANYTHING! I'll see a guy in the woods and think "I can take him" but as I approach I see there are 4 of them and I'm dead. Nothing is ever just chillin' by itself in the wild so you can even attempt to attack it. I've just spent 45mins literally running all over...hopefully I can beat the main quest without actually attacking anything.

I guess ALL my local buddies are getting Two Worlds. I am the only one who waited on putting money down on it. It never seemed impressive and I hoped they would take some time to really polish it.
It shipped from GameFly already so I am going to try it out but as it stands now I simply can't see paying full price for it even if it seems to be the only game all my close friends can agree to play together.

Another problem with Two Worlds is that the learning curve is ridiculously HUGE. If you don't immediately understand how to upgrade your stats, you will be on the brink of death at every fight. While Oblivion slowly walked you through the basics of an RPG, Two Worlds tosses you into the middle of the ocean and hopes you can swim.
I'm about 4 hours into the game now. I'm used to the framerate problems now and only one freeze over 3 hours of play.
There's still quite a bit I haven't figured out, but the discovery process can be interesting. My archer is finally wearing enough armor to breach the 300 point defense range in two categories and has more health than he knows what to do with. I'm sitting on about 6,000 in gold at the moment around level 10. I still haven't figured out how to make potions or traps yet, but I'm searching out the method on how.
I've explored two of the major cities so far and find myself on the opening story quest in the House of Skeldon. I came across my first Cyclops in a Dwarfen mine. He was a huge pain to take down. While there is a health bar down at the bottom of the screen for each enemy, Two Worlds doesn't give you a figure on their total health before you attack. My 300 point damage on my bow kicks butt, but it's may do very little against a guy with 9000 points of health. The only clue is the color of the target indicator / name on the screen.
Bandits are the most lucrative guys to kill. You can easily make between 200 to 500 gold at each 3-man bandit camp. It's because they carry wallets with at least 100 gold pieces in them. I can take a camp of three out with my 55m bow before they even reach my position.
A tip for those who have the game: Turning down the HDR lighting effect supposedly helps the framerate problem. I haven't tried it yet, but will in the morning.
2nd tip: You can click the right thumbstick and it will change between 3 viewpoints (3rd person, a closer 3rd person, and 1st person). It took me 4 hours to figure that one out.

Disappointing, as I was really looking forward to Two Worlds. Sure, I knew it would be an Oblivion clone, but as someone who loved Oblivion, that's what I was looking for. Just a damn shame they couldn't get the framerate and GUI fixed up.

Anyone playing Overlord or played it? I didn't care for the demo on the 360 due to controls, so picked it up on the PC. Great game - mix Pikimin with Fable and you have an instant sleeper hit.

I thought Overlord was very good but not great. The controls were a little tricky, and there are times when it's tough to figure out how the game wants you to get past a certain obstacle. All in all, though, it's fun, it's different, and it's worth playing.

I kept dying (a lot) in one bottle neck street trying to get to one of the AA guns, it didn't seem to matter how I tried to approach it I always ended up back there again. That was my biggest disappointment as everything I've seen/read led me to believe there would be numerous ways through each mission, and I finally gave up last night after always dying in the same place. If I could get better control of parachuting maybe I would enjoy it more, and I've found at least one of the special landing areas, but have not been able to hit it yet. Even though the demo has no multiplayer I still think that aspect would be fun, but as of now I think I'll wait for a used copy to show up before grabbing it.

Alright, skate. might as well be called "As hard as real skating: The Game". There's no way I'm buying this, it's hard as shit. If I'm playing a skating game I want it to be easy, so that I can do a 1080º Airwalk into a grind where I'm doing the worm on the skateboard, all in some pirate ship in outer space. This realism stuff is for the birds.
I picked up Rayman Raving Rabbids for $20. It seems like a great game for the price.

I dunno, I liked the Skate demo. It is going to take time to get good at. Took me a couple demo plays to get the timing down, and I still crash frequently. The game feels like I am constantly in the "nail the trick mode" from the last Tony Hawk, which was my favorite part.

My impressions on some recent demos:
- Skate: It was ok, I felt it was a bit tough. I liked it a little better than Tony Hawk, but I haven't liked any skateboarding games since like TH3.
- MOH:Airborne - I thought this demo was pretty fun, but average at best. The parachute option was neat, but it was tough to control and if you go without your "team", you are close to being screwed. I dropped on top of the building with two guns, and IW as eventually able to take them all down on a solo mission. My team was no where to be found.
- Ratitoulle: Yep, I played the demo, it was pretty bad. I got frustrated right away.....
- Stuntman Ignition: I thought this was fun.....although, I thought it was a bit tough at times, I hate games where I have to redo things over and over.
I think that was it recently...what else?
