what the fuck would be the point in making the zapper come with duck hunt? I mean, you shoot ducks, but it totally defeats the purpose of requiring a nunchuk

I really don't feel people think that the whole way through

shumway 09-11-07 11:19 AM

I can't imagine how they could re-make duckhunt into a full-fledged game. The original duckhunt is essentially 2 mini-games.. clay pigeons and ducks, doesn't really fly these days.

It wouldn't have to be a straight remake. They could obviously do something where you are moving around or moving your view with the nunchuck also.

It doesn't really matter though. Either way, the gameplay is essentially the same.

 I don't think Link's Crossbow Training is going to be a full-fledged game either.

They could do something like this...

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5WkcDtbS5tY"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5WkcDtbS5tY" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

but hopefully better. rotfl

Groucho 09-11-07 11:33 AM

Folk's it's a pack-in with a $20 accessory. Don't expect a full-fledged 50+ hour game with any depth.

I agree, it's obviously not. My point is, I can't see them releasing a 'full-fledged' duckhunt remake if they didn't have it as the cheapie pack-in mini-game for the plastic shell.

That just doesn't really seem like the Big N's style... another Cabela game.

Where's the confusion? Because Star Fox is so much like Call of Duty, right?

Groucho 09-11-07 11:48 AM

I'm pretty sure Call of Duty was originally a Star Fox title but after the "Star Fox Adventures" debacle they changed it to a WW2 game a month or so before it went gold.

Considering how many times you hear "I need backup!" in both games, that's not wholly unbelievable.

 You say: "on rails shooter" and I picture RE: Umbrella Chronicles or the plunger levels of Rayman. Basically first person shooters without the ability to move.

Although if you have a squad member named Slippy in CoD it might seem a little more out of place.

The point of the base isn't to look good. The point of the base is to allow the vent that is on that side to actual vent out hot air instead of having the vent be blocked. You are overheating.

GatorDeb 09-11-07 11:19 PM

Well it does seem it needs the base to be vertical :) Played three games of bowling and one half of tennis (got mad at the game and turned it off) without a glitch. And, my arm hurts a lot less. It's like I had a knot and got rid of it by playing more. Now it only hurts a little bit when I rotate, but other than that I don't even notice it. Can't wait to put hours and hours on the Wii :D

Giantrobo 09-11-07 11:52 PM

Dammit! Another day or Disc Read Errors and Resetting.

I'm really starting to FUCKIN' HAAATE this Gen's consoles.:mad:

Giantrobo 09-11-07 11:54 PM

...and oh, if you're in the Los Angeles area and you still need a Wii I saw 3 at the Best Buy in Torrance on PCH.

tanman 09-12-07 12:56 AM

Well duck hunt doesn't have to be a real deep thing just something new instead of a zelda mini game. It just feels more like a rehash then an updated duck hunt would.

Although I totally understand why they did this. They have the game engine already and the art and everything else they basically just have to come up with a short scenario and a model for the crossbow. Hell they don't even really have to come up with any programing since it really is just a shell and doesn't change the way the remotes interact with the game just the way people interact with the remotes.

argh923 09-12-07 02:09 AM

Turned on my Wii for the first time in 2-3 months tonight, since I'd gotten a new wireless router and needed to configure the settings. I downloaded an update, and now, about three hours later, it's blue-lighting me. Was something released today?

Groucho 09-12-07 08:06 AM

Check your messages. I'm guessing the blue va-jay-jay is a note about the Metroid preview channel.

GatorDeb 09-12-07 11:27 AM

The Wii has WiiFii!!!! Someone at work has had the Wii since launch and they told me it had to be wired. I messed with the connection settings and found a wireless option. I came upstairs to get my WAP key :D

Where is your coworker plugging in the wire? Wait, nevermind... I don't think I want to know.

shumway 09-12-07 06:53 PM

Anyone buy Play Action Football yet? I haven't seen any reviews, it would really be nostalgia for me, but, I want to know if they still have the old players names, like Hostetler on the Giants, Moon on the Oilers, Montana and Young on the Niners, etc.

They took them out for Tecmo and I bet they are removed on this game as well.

I was hoping for $30, but at least it's still budget priced.

I know there are more people than just myself interested for Endless Ocean on the boards. I hadn't heard anything in a while, but found this preview on IGN. It's dated a month ago, so not exactly new, but if you haven't kept up, well, it's new to you. :)

Endless Ocean
Release Date: Oct. 29

Here are some highlights:

- custom soundtracks
- online co-op, you can travel to your friend's boat and head out on dives for cooperative exploration
- one of the most stunning underwater recreations ever put to the videogame screen
- full freedom of movement across a substantially sized water environment, and with hardly any limits on air supply and no actual sea-based dangers
- The control scheme makes movement around a 360 degree space relatively easy.
- Endless Ocean maintains its own friend list separate from the Wii hardware (up to 42 friends)

Sounds excellent. And on the plus side, the preview wasn't done by Matt C who, in his fanboy haste, tends to overrate everything.

I've seen a few video previews about Endless Ocean, and I guess I just don't get it. You're a diver, exploring the ocean...and...? Seems like an interesting concept, could be a great game to share with kids, but doesn't sound like it'd be a full-price game for me.

SunMonkey 09-13-07 05:12 PM

 My Wii just wiped my Nintendo brand GC memroy card. My wife loaded her SpongeBob: BBB game, but when she went to save later, the card was suddenly "corrupt" which required a reformat. I lost all my Cube files including my save game for Baten Kaitos right as I was just about to finish it. :(

According to the article you search for treasure as well as photograph every type of fish which are then added to your virtual aquarium. Doesn't sound like a whole lot but it looks like a relaxing way to unwind.

Giantrobo 09-13-07 10:09 PM

Will we ever see a wireless Nunchuck? I don't mind the current set up but sometimes that cord to the remote gets in the way.

jediwicz 09-13-07 10:22 PM

I was thinking the same thing about the wireless Nunchuck tonight, especially after playing Metroid and having the chord fly up half a dozen times. That and the ability to use an external HD would make the Wii even better.

PixyJunket 09-14-07 07:50 AM

I've got no problems with the nunchuck, but I do want a wireless classic controller.

PixyJunket 09-14-07 08:00 AM

The new Winamp Beta can stream your playlist to your Wii.
