No summary. But I did buy my first 2 VC titles yesterday. Devil's Crush and Wonderboy in Monster World.

Two great games. Dragon's Curse on the TG16 is the "prequel" game to Wonder Boy in Monster World, by the way, which is also on VC.

Damn you Pixy. Damn you to hell.

To change the theme towards the end of the other thread... I personally am fired up about Metroid Prime 3!!! I'm going to get Metroid and Super Metroid on the VC today and next Monday respectively and then Prime 3 the week after that. I love Metroid month :)

Same here for me as well. Rented it from a HEB Video Central and kept re-renting it until I beat it. The only conundrum now is that I have 500 points and the freakin' thing is 800.. UGGH.

I own this: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...n-70-1s1r.html

It's got every version (including English where available) of all six Wonder Boy/Monster World games except for the PCE/TG16 variants. One of my favorite series of all time.

Damn - that looks cool.

How do you like Devil's Crush? That's one of my favorite TG16 games.

It rocks. I'm a huge pinball junkie, and I remember playing this at the TG16 kiosk at radio shack :-)

Cool!

Supermallet 08-13-07 02:53 PM

I downloaded Devil's Crush the moment it went up on the VC.

Liver&Onions 08-13-07 03:19 PM

Was Alien Crush good too?

dvdhook 08-13-07 05:52 PM

I'm not sure if anyone here is still waiting to get this game, but just thought I'd share - I was at Best Buy this afternoon and saw that "Godfather Blackhand Edition" has been marked down to $29.99. I checked a few sites online and they are all showing the same price. I think I might pick this up this week.

It was great but the sequel, Devil's Crush, really took video game pinball to a whole new level at the time.

So going backwards probably isn't wise then. Thanks.

Alien Crush had a cool "HR Giger" vibe with its interesting bio-mechanicnal environment and I wouldn't say don't buy it. But yeah, DC is the step forward....

my Wii just lit up about 10min. ago. I just now turned it on and there is an update. it said is fixes an issue with lockups while using the internet browser and something about making it work better with the LAN adapter.

ok, its already done. took a minute or so max.

BTW, has anyone used the web browser.
I was curious if it's worth 500 points?
Thanks for any input!

Groucho 08-14-07 09:24 AM

I don't know if it's worth 500 points (I got it when it was still free), but it's a pretty decent browser if you want to play flash games and such on your Wii. I would wait until you have a compelling reason to use it.

PixyJunket 08-14-07 09:46 AM

Apparently the new update has something for "Nintendo 64 Cartridges," whatever that means. I know Nintendo had a survey on their site some time ago about a GameCube adapter that played N64 carts.. could this be related to that in some way or is it just tied into the Virtual Console stuff? Considering that imports may never make it to the VC, I'd probably be dumb enough to buy an adapter so I could grab the imports of Bangai-O and Sin and Punishment!

pinata242 08-14-07 09:51 AM

I can't imagine they would release an adapter to allow you to use/buy-used N64 carts that they get no profit from when they already have the VC delivery system in your house.

But if it does say "Cartridges" I can't think of what else it would mean. I just wish there was an N64 controller adapter. I'd rebuy my N64 games and get rid of the system if I could play that way. But, of course, that wouldn't have anything to do with system updates.

Is this under the parental controls now like the "user communication" was last week?

GoVegan 08-14-07 09:53 AM

Maybe it'll eventually allow for rumble support on VC N64 games? That would be nice. Didn't the N64 have a rumble expansion pack or something like that?

shumway 08-14-07 09:57 AM

Yep, packed in w/ Goldeneye or sold seperately if I remember correctly.

Does flash work on the Wii browser? I tried couple of times with no luck... I may have to try again.

Yup, it came with Star Fox 64. I think rumble support is probably a low priority on that one considering the only way you'd get it is out of a wired GameCube controller. Wavebirds are lacking rumble as are the current "chained to Wii remote" classic controllers. If they happen to (and I hope they do) release a "pro" version of the classic controller that is wireless with rumble, that's when I'd expect them to add rumble support for N64 VC titles.

KurrptSenate 08-14-07 10:03 AM

it definitely wasn't packed in w/ golden eye

Yes, but only older versions (Opera is having some sort of licensing problem). But YouTube videos work, as do the games found at WiiCade.com

Ahh, I guess I was just thinking that, because that was the game that spurred me to buy Goldeneye and I picked up a rumblepack w/ the system.

Oh, that's right - I forgot about the fact that all of those controllers lack rumble support. I suppose it's not that big a deal, but I was thinking there were a few games in which the controller rumbled to let you know about a secret item or area, like Paper Mario and one of the Zeldas. I've never played the N64 Zeldas, though, so I may incorrect about that.

You're probably right that they would do all of that at once. Otherwise, what symbol would they use to indicate rumble support (but only with a wired GC controller)?

Dang... I was hoping to play Desktop Tower Defense or Line Rider on my Wii.

The Bus 08-14-07 10:45 AM

Line Rider, last I heard, is coming for the Wii and the DS. I think the DS is a better fit for it myself, though.

clappj 08-14-07 11:13 AM

Quick question

I just bought a component cable.
I there anything that I need to change to the system setup to reap the benefits, or does the Wii do it automatically?
Thanks!

Yup, there's a display setup in the Wii Settings. Change to 480p and 16:9 and enjoy.

Thanks the info PJ! :)

Artman 08-14-07 12:02 PM

So does the Zelda:OOT VC play any smoother than the GC release? Also anyone know the trade-in value for that at Gamestop? They sell the used copies for $35...

Just downloaded my first VC games last night and had a blast. I'm really enjoying the Wii - I don't think I'll even consider a 360 untill next spring...

Toad 08-14-07 12:04 PM

Do you have to get a specific SD card (i.e., a Wii-compatible SD card) to copy/save things to?

I just have some generic SD card I bought a year ago...so far, it ain't working.

KurrptSenate 08-14-07 12:05 PM

you might have to format it to FAT32

Toad 08-14-07 12:06 PM

How?

pinata242 08-14-07 12:11 PM

Here's the general troubleshooting. Not much help unless you have an SD card > 2GB or you've never connected your Wii to the Internet and received updates (unlikely as I think you're dealing with VC titles anyway).
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/sys...ts/sdCards.jsp

Do you have another SD card you can try to see if just a bum card or a compatibility problem?

shumway 08-14-07 12:25 PM
