If you live in LA and still need a Wii or know someone who's looking for one, I saw <b>20</b> for sale at the Best Buy on Sepulveda in the El Segundo/Manhattan Beach area location.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/index.html Four-player online battle mode and more Wi-Fi modes will be revealed in the weeks to come. Fight friends (who you've exchanged Friend Codes with) or scrap with anyone across the globe. When taking on pals you can check if they're playing online, request a match and enter short pre-set messages after brawls by using the d-pad. (why cant they have keyboard or mic support?) |
You were both beat: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=512214

I'm going to give you a beat down! Let's go, you and me, right now!
Well, as soon as enter your 12-digit friend code. And you enter mine. And Nintendo's wifi service eventually acknowledges that we want each other as friends. But after all that, the beat down is coming -- OH YEAH! PS - I know you've entered my friend codes before, for my DS, for my Wii, and for various games. This will be a different friend code. |

Anyone using the madcatz Component cables with their Wii and/or 360? I bought a new TV to keep at the GF to play Halo3 and watch HD stuff on and take the 360 and Wii between my place and her's, but it only has 1 component input. I was thinking of buying those cables to try instead of the hassle of unhooking the cables each time and just leave the ones hooked up at my place as well. The new tv has 2 HDMI inputs, but I can't find a buyer for my older 360 to get one with a HDMI port.

A compilation disk from them would be nice as well...shouldn't be too hard. And I've been curious what a shooter would be like if you moved your ship (or whatever) as a reticule on screen. I wonder if it would be too fast or direct. Seems like it might be fun. |

Do you have any control over your movement, or is it just shooting? Perhaps a sequel...or at any rate, I'm thinking that Umbrella Chronicles may be a solid substitute. I was picturing more like an Ikaruga in which you move your ship with the pointer...might be a fun dynamic...especially since the Wiimote is so precise. |

I was at Wal-Mart tonight and they had 8 Wiis for sale. This would be the new Wal-MArt in Muskegon, Michigan.
|
My local Costco had Wii/Mario Party 8 bundles the other day. There were about a dozen people with 1 to 2 Wiis in their carts.
|
I've seen then in stock on three separate occasions recently, all at the same WalMart.
Availability must be improving. |

I give people a decent chance of finding Wiis through October, then there will be none in the wild again until probably a couple months into the new year. Hell who ever expected DS Lites to be scarce last year? My mom called me one day looking for one for a freind's kid and she asked me "where can I find one of those Nintendo DS things?" I was like "anywhere that sells videogames" then I found out you couldn't find the fuckers at all

"Where is your wii mote?"
"My dog ate it" "No, really where is your wii mote?" No, really my dog ate it" http://www.funtechtalk.com/veterinar...in-family-dog/ |
Hey, is there a site that lists the controls and how to play various Wii games? I ask because I just got in The Bigs from GameFly and am having a lot of trouble figuring out exactly how the controls work.

You could always try gamefly.com :D They post instructions for each game in the description when you look at the games. see here: http://www.gamefly.com/products/deta...4980&t=0&tab=5 You might also want to try gamefaqs.com they are usually VERY descriptive. |

So I put it on the stand but it still freezes on me, and all the times it has frozen it has been on bowling. I'm going to switch it on Sunday. What are some possibilities? Could it just be the disc? I'm going to swap both the console and the disc. Less than a month and less than 4 hours play and already a switch :( In happier news, I just paid $50 for a 3-year warranty that includes accidental damage (water, dropping it, etc) with a $50 copay (so it's $100 total if I break it, $50 total if it breaks itself, for the next three years) through Squaretrade.

I'm still within the 30 days, so I'm taking the console and disc to TRU on Sunday.

Yeah I'm sorry to hear of you troubles too. I was playing this morning and noticing that screens on Resident Evil and Metroid were taking longer to load as if they were stuck then they would suddenly load. This was happening while the disc drive was making weird noises. This is in addition to the Disc Errors and console freeze ups that I had a few weeks ago. I have a sick feeling that my Wii is gonna give me problems sometime in the near future and that would mean <b>both</b> my NexGen consoles are shit in terms of workmanship. -ohbfrank- BTW, what's "Squaretrade"? I have an ex-warr through Sears. |
If it's always the same game, it's probably the Wii Sports disk. They've had a few problems, and definitely should have come in normal cases.
|
Yeah, I remember a couple people at launch called Nintendo and they shipped them a new WiiSports disc.
|
SquareTrade.com started offering warranties for eBay purchases and then extended for everything. It's 10% of purchase price - 3 years for new, 2 years for used. Some items give you an additional option for accidental damage for an additional fee. Right now (and it may expire at any time) you can get a warranty for ANY item purchased in any store in 2007.
|
Oh ok, thanks GatorDeb.
Also, I went ahead and took my Wii off the base, put it horizontal, and played RE4 so for now the noises and slow laoding weirdness seem to be gone away but we'll see. I guess this Gen's Engineers need to re-think Vertical Console gaming. -ohbfrank- |
So I bit the bullet and got Wii Play, Carnival Games, and Mario Party 8 for $107 after tax. Sister's going to give me $36 for my niece's Wiimote (saves about $7 for the $39.99 price after tax) so that leaves me with Carnival Games, Mario Party, and Wii Play for $71. I can live with that. And I got the extra remote :D Mom loves Ping Pong so we're going to have a go at it today (got the game late yesterday).
Went to gamefaqs.com and downloaded saves for Mario Party 8 and Carnival Games. MP8 is all completed, but CG is mostly completed. If anyone completed that game could you email it to me at [email protected] and post here that you did? You can copy saves by sticking an SD card into the Wii, then from the Wii menu go to Wii settings, then saves, then select your save, then copy, then to the sd card, then just stick the sd card back in the computer and email. I'd GREATLY appreciate it, I like the games but I suck at them. I'm sooo bad at throw the football through the moving hoop it's not even funny. I'm totally addicted to neon hockey and ping pong, like I knew I would be. The games I got are going to be even better once my niece comes over and plays (tomorrow). |
my Wii drive was ridiculously loud for some reason, I sent it off to Nintendo and they fixed it

More Disc Read Errors and Freeze ups this morning.
I swear I'm gonna toss both the Wii and 360 out the fuckin' window and go back playing board games..... |

The only freeze up I've ever had was in the Internet channel when I was looking at something resource intensive -- and that hasn't happened since the browser upgrade.
