I know from researching the Bioshock LE, that gamestop.com says they will get you the the game on release day if you pay for next day shipping. That runs $9.99 I think.

no luck getting Best Buy to match CC's ad on the points. Their excuse was that they sell the MS items under contract with Microsoft and therefore will not match any offers. I asked why they price matched two 360 games in the past, and they had no answer. Still, 20 min, 2 managers, and a phone call later and they still refused.

My 3 point cards from the Halo deal shipped just now, so it looks like BBY will honor the mistake. Thanks again for posting the deal, Jeremy517 (and to whomever on CAG discovered it).

And if your gonna buy a system anyways you might as well wait for the Halo 360 Edition that is due out in Sep. Not sure what the price on it is.

You win again, Microsoft! I just called for a coffin. Maybe it'll be here by the time the "checkerboard effect" hits me and I can at least shave a week off of the time I am without my XBox.

This morning, I woke up and checked CC.com to see that stores had some in stock, but they went away before I could decide if I wanted to order them at full price and PM them to their own store on pickup and have $40 tied up for a week or so. I kept checking and one store a little ways aways from me still said they had stock at 9:30, so I took off for there. I got there and they didn't have any, and they couldn't do a special order because "we just changed to a new system, and the warehouse hasn't updated yet."
I ran across the street to BB to pick up 300, and decided to try a PM with the cashier, and she did it without any questions asked. She said she'd been doing these all week. I ended up picking up 4 cards, and then called my friend and we went back and I got 4 more.
It's definitely YMMV with BB, because their policy really is to only PM a *price" and not any other deals. However, you'll probably have better luck getting the PM in the standard line, rather than going up to customer service. Especially if it's busy and you're tying up other customer transactions.
Good luck!

US Xbox mag to sell coverdisc content via Live
Tom Bramwell 12:09 (BST) 31/07/2007
OXM Digital to be priced at $2.50
The US Official Xbox Magazine plans to offer coverdisc content, including exclusive demos, to Xbox Live Marketplace users for a fee.
Editor-in-chief Francesca Reyes announces "OXM Digital" in the September issue, currently heading to subscribers and picked up by GameSetWatch.
She writes, "Think of it as a digital digest of our mag, but with lots of exclusive interactive content, including gamer pics, themes, videos, galleries... Stuff we can't do in print.
"OXM Digital also sports exclusive demos," Reyes added. It's believed that these demos will be offered exclusively on the coverdisc and as part of OXM Digital for a limited time before being made available to Xbox Live users for free.
The package will be sold to Xbox Live users for 200 Microsoft points (USD 2.50 / GBP 1.70 / EUR 2.33). It's not clear if it will be available exclusively to US gamers or a wider audience.
OXM's Dan Amrich, writing on the official Xbox forums, later clarified that OXM Digital and the OXM demo disc are "being designed as different beasts", despite the crossover of content.
The US OXM, published by Future, has covered Xbox and Xbox 360 with official backing from Microsoft since November 2001. Along with its British counterpart, its coverdiscs sometimes host playable demo content that's held back from general Xbox Live Marketplace release in order to boost sales.

That's bullshit. They pay to have an exclusive demo in their rag but it will be on the marketplace for a price? Weak sauce. I already pay for gold, I shouldn't have to pay for demos. Thanks.

I don't like the OXM deal at all. I have a feeling they'll put most of the better demos into this timed exclusive deal. Usually the demos that are on the OXM disc can be found on the JPN or Euro Marketplace, but Katamari still hasn't shown up. There's no way I'm spending $10 for this crappy mag just for a Katamari demo and a couple lame gamerpics.

I don't see the big deal. OXM presumably licenses exclusive demos to give their magazine some appeal. Then they sell that specific licensed content a la carte online for those who want one piece of it but not a subscription. Seems fair enough to me. I subscribe because i kind of dig the magazine and discs and really like it when i get an exclusive demo.If you don't buy the demo i fail to see how it is any different than just not subscribing to the magazine.
edit: Does Katamari on the PS2 control using both sticks? Like push both forward to go forward, push right stick forward and left stick back to turn to the right etc.
The 360 demo was like that and i was not a fan at all.

thats how I saw it anyway. had i found the issue I was after, i essentially would have paid 10 bucks for one lousy demo.
if it would save me a ton of car trips and 7.50 for the same damn thing (just the demo i wanted), I fail to see the problem
edit : yup, same controls on the psp as well, just harder since you have to use the square, triangle, x and circle for the other stick.
the controls are brilliant. you probably just aren't used to them yet

But these are demos that were only available on the disc you had to buy a magazine subscription to.
From my understanding, they are now letting you purchase the disc content for 250 points instead of buying the magazine subscription. So, you have to subscribe or now buy the content to get the demos. If you do neither, you don't get the demo and you aren't missing out on anything you previously had access to.

exactly. not sure why it's so hard for others to see it in this light. it's not like someone is twisting your arm and making you pay. you could say they should give them to you for free, but they aren't, and they won't. otherwise, what would be the point of OXM if you could just get it for free on XBL?

As for the Katamari controls, i was expecting something a little more like Monkeyball on the GC. I wanted to control the ball with left stick and spin the camera with the right. I'm not sure how using the two stick control method gives me any more control over the ball.... other than i guess going from full forward to full back being similar to brakes. That and the two stick controls make me think i ought to be controlling a tank.
