Edit: Seems like you can do pickup for the standard edition but not the limited edition. I kinda want the limited edition, but I guess I can live without it to get this deal. Or maybe I could do an in-store exchange when I go to pick it up. I think it's worth a shot - thanks for posting about this!

apparently the error was fixed. I tried changing the quantity but I guess I missed the window. They are currently ringing up one at the 4.99 price, but the other two at the 19.99 price :/

Good choice with the Samsung.

I'm probably going to pass on that deal (Halo + $5 card) considering I could probably get it for much cheaper through my friend. The $5 deal definitely is a good one, but I just got 4, 1600 pt cards from BB for $40 just on Sunday :/

Did you download the JPN demo using another account?

It's a Samsung LN-T4661F, 46" 1080p LCD. The blacks and colors are the best I've ever seen on an LCD.

Yeah, it was a pretty painless process. The demo is in English once you sign back to your US account.

It looks pretty good man. Are you happy with it? I'm looking to upgrade to HDTV soon and was leaning towards a Samsung DLP. Never thought about LCD's since i heard they were'nt suitable for gaming.

Nice one, Pixy. Watch out with those plasmas, though : I have a Samsung 42" plasma that's two years old and I already have pretty bad burn in on the right and left sides of the screen from having the TV display programs in their OAR all day (my wife and her friggin' HGTV ). Now we always get the image stretched out so we avoid further damage, but it's distracting and irritating. To this day it sickens me to think about how much I paid for it a couple of years ago.

So, without the 3 cards (just the 1), do you think the Halo 3 deal is the best one we'll see?

I personally couldn't stand the picture on DLPs. I play way too many video games, so LCD seemed like the obvious choice for me as well

I think IF you got those 3 cards for $15, that probably was the best deal you'll see.

I'll probably wind up getting Halo 3 for about 1/2 price :/

Ya, I'll probably wait on the game, I'm not a huge Halo fan, but it's still a good game so I end up playing through it. I just want a decent deal on some points since I'm running out, and I don't have a CC around.

same here. I really couldn't care less about the game, but I realize the series is "solid" and it's a good title to have when friends come around considering its popularity.

I realize I'm going to need a sh!t load of points for the GTA IV exclusive content. It would be nice to get it for a huge discount when all that shit drops

I'm VERY happy with it and I'm very, VERY picky. The only complaint I have is that it still exhibits a slight bit of backlight bleeding on an all-black screen when I've got the brightness and backlight up a bit, but that's probably going to be an LCD issue until the LED lit models hit the market and I'm not sure everyone wants their games as bright and poppy as I do. When I've got those settings down to accommodate TV and movies, it's almost non-existent.

LCDs are probably the best HDTV for gaming right now based on my research.. although it's probably still up to each person's individual needs and budget. Plasmas aren't suitable due to burn-in and DLPs have noted lengthy upscaling time (which wouldn't be a problem if you plan on playing nothing but Xbox 360/PS3). I think the LCoS sets (like Sony's SXRD) are pretty great too, but I had a strong desire for a flat-panel for some reason.

Decker, mine is LCD, not plasma. I had a 42" Samsung plasma for a month last year and got burn-in right away playing Twilight Princess. Thankfully I was able to take it back and sit out another eight months until an LCD worthy of my specifications came out.

FYI the Eternal Sonata demo was also on a recent OXM disc if you don't want to do the whole Japanese account thing.

@!^#&!!%!

For those keeping score, this is my third 360. I've had this one for about 5 weeks, which means it's just outside of the 30-day in-store exchange period. Damn it!

Dunno if its a fair comparison per se, but I'm running on a relatively cheap ($850) 720p DLP projector, and the image is more vibrant and crisper than 90% of the LCDs I've seen. Eternal Sonata is especially stunning (not to be outdone, Kameo is also phenomenally beautiful).

Of course, there is a difference between FP and flat planels, but just saying .

Now I just need to mount a damned screen

The refurbs seem to be coming back in better shape than the retails these days, what with added heatsinks and quieter dvd drives.

Since I had gotten a refurb in my recent exchange, I called MS to get them to "fix" my XBLA games. It took a while on the phone (maybe an hour), but I'm supposed to be getting MS points for all of my prior purchases within 5-10 days.

While I don't understand why they don't have an automatic fix for everyone getting refurbs (it seems like some sort of "key" exchange should be easy, but who knows), this solution works well for me. I probably won't re-purchase a couple of the XBLA titles I have already played through but have the points back for them anyway. Now I can spend the points on new games (and my original gamercard will still play all the old games I had anyhow). Pretty cool deal and makes up for getting a refurb back.

For the inconvienence of needing to be connected to live (which does matter to me, when I take the console places), I'm happy with having the points refunded.

Wow, they caught that pretty quickly. Since no stores around here had the cards, I had to have them shipped. And they have not shipped yet, so I'm not sure I'll be getting them. If they are not going to send me three, I just hope they cancel the order instead of trying to "correct" it.

I got e-mail notifications that Circuit City stores around me had the 1600 point cards back in stock. However, I cannot order them from the website (they removed the entire 1600 card item page from their website). So I don't know if it's worth a trip there after work. If you have not been able to get any cards from CC, they might have restocked other stores as well. Worth checking if you have a CC close by...

i have a plasma and use it with ps2 and xbox360 and don't have any burn in.
if you abuse your plasma, you will get burn in, but treat it properly and you will not. i.e. - lower your brightness, contrast!

Does nobody order games online any more? Any preferred stores for getting a title delivered close to the release date? Anybody?
