The A2 is $240 at Amazon.
I certainly wish I could swap my add-on and $60 for the A2... Unfortunately I bought the add-on way before the standalone HD-DVD players were so cheap.

Call me hard headed, but even though I am receiving alot of negatives from you guys, I am still tempted to take advantage of this offer

MBS.....Can I ask you something? I was reading some customer reviews on amazon.com and one guy posted a pros/cons list at the end of his review:
Pros:
* Cheapest HD-DVD solution if you have an XBox 360
* Easy to setup
* Accepts IR from your universal remote via the Xbox
* Great picture quality
* Includes Microsoft Remote and free King-Kong HD-DVD
* UPDATE: HDMI Output (with Xbox 360 Elite Only)
Cons:
* Only outputs 1080i via Component (VGA required for 1080p)
* VGA output has limitations, both due to Xbox and/or your TV
* Can't take advantage of HD-DVD improved audio quality formats
See that last "con", about the lack of improved audio support? Can you comment on that further? I don't fully understand what that means, does it mean for instance it does not support audio like DTS and stuff like that, or does it mean something different? Thank you

The HD era has also brought HD audio. Basically, uncompressed surround sound that should sound WAY better than what we're used to. Thing is if you've never heard of it then chances are you don't have a receiver capable of outputting this format anyways.
Halo 3 with 4 player co-op online is great news. I like Halo, but not so much that I was wetting my pants to play it. Well, I need to change now.

Here is the relevant portion:
"You won't see different times of day per city because this involves recreating all the textures again (one for day and one for night). Whilst this wasn't a problem for our dev team, it was a problem fitting all this data onto a single DVD."

Well, I've never played Halo, and while I have a Gold Live subscription, I've never bought any points. Am I going to want Halo 3? I've downloaded plenty of Arcade demos, just never felt like buying them, but I'm sure there are a few things I could d/l with the points.

I've got the HD add-on for the 360 and I love it. I've had it since Christmas. Now that it's cheaper than a stand alone player plus the free movies sounds like a no brainer to me. I'll upgrade to a dual HD format player when those prices come down. But for now I'm happy.

One thing to add... they wouldn't "reimburse" me for games I had codes for (like Bankshot Billiards from the 1-year Gold package), only for games which I had paid MS points for.

Did they give you the points right away?

Caught this at cag.com, but as of now the HD-DVD add on is $149 at bb.com:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1158321865239
Price mistake? possibly. Considering today is the beginning of the 5free offer for the add on, best to take advantage while you can.

Complaint: Why the hell do I need to create and sign in to new accounts just to play local multi-player?! And then, when I do, those players do not have access to stuff that I've unlock in the game (ie: costumes in Bomberman). This is really a retarded way to do things.

I don't have the points yet, they said it would be 5-10 days to credit. Something about needing a requisition to go through.

From what i've been reading BlueRay is the way to go and seems to be winning the war.
HD-DVD might not have much life left. This is just MHO.
