Changing the mfg date on a console sounds pretty jinky to me. I would think they would catch all kinds of shit if they were doing that. There are certainly easier ways to change the warranty date than that.
I got my coffin this afternoon, and my 360 is on its way to Texas. That was 4 business days to get it.

But, it's odd that they would bother to keep manufacturing non-HDMI systems just for warranty people.

There were a few black smudges on the casing and it didn't have protective plastic covering sticking to it that's typically seen on New electronic devices so who knows...
To be honest, I'm normally a MS fan but this whole 360 clusterfuck has left me with little faith in them.

Then I used the thing, and it sounds like a POS... loud as all hell and has an "older drive". It also seems to be putting out a lot more heat than my original one.
My original one was nice and quiet... couldn't even tell it was running most of the time except for the occasional drive noises....
This piece of crap is noisy anytime you are playing a game. Luckily it is quiet when using the HD-DVD add on, or I'd file another repair.
This POS better not scratch any disks either!
But other than that... I'm happy with it....

Getting ready to die for the 2nd time...bought early last November, had to send it in in April because it wouldn't read discs. Tonight after a couple hours of GH3 it kept freezing up whenever I tried to start a game. No RROD, but I'm guessing that's just a matter of time?

Gromit sez,
I'm still wondering why my repaired 360 was the exact same one I sent in (launch unit). It sounds like everyone else got a newer unit.
for me.......
Same here, my unit was out of my house a total of 7 days(including weekend). got it back, same SSN?...damn, I was hoping for HDMI.....
Mr. Music sez,
Yeah, mine had a couple black smudges on it as well... which I thought was odd for something that was "new"

For me,
Same here, my repaired unit is loud as all can be.......but it runs very cool to the touch. at first I thought it was the fan....but then I figured out that it was the drive. Don't know if it is a new one, but do know it is the same type(took before and after pics)............which would explain why your unit is quiet when you use the HD-DVD add on....and yup, I am still very happy with my 360...

Quick question for anyone who can answer.
Long story short...I've got the red rings, called it in, got my box and now it's ready to ship. Everything is boxed up and ready to go, plan on taking it in on Monday morning to ship it.
My question is, in the box they sent is the return label that I am to place over the label with my name on it that is already on the box. Well, how do they know who to ship the XBOX back to once it is fixed or whatever? Do they have this info by my serial # that I gave them when I called it in and everything? I'd really hate to send my 360 in and not get it back because of something as stupid ass them not having an address. Can anyone give me any info?? Thanks.

Thanks, that's so good to know.
I taped a card to my XBOX w/ the Serial # and the Reference #, but after sealing everything up I started thinking about it.
I appreciate the info guys. Thanks!!!

OK - I was just checking the repair status of my 360 online. Up until an hour ago, the status was "Device received at service center". Now it says "You have no registered devices."
WTF does that mean?

Okay, it seems I've just joined the RROD club, as my launch unit just bit it. Called in to get a box.
Quick question, that's probably been answered a bunch here before, but I believe they said just ship the 360 itself and nothing else. I confirmed don't send the Hard Drive, but confirming, you don't have to send in power supply or anything, correct? Just the unit itself?
Thanks Guys... had been hoping it wasn't going to happen, even though I knew it would sooner or later.

I called it in to get the coffin sent, but when I try and register the serial number on the website to check it, it can't seem to register the serial #. It just indicates a problem has occurred. Is that a common thing? I was told I could check the status there. Reading through here, I saw a few folks with the same issue, but plenty of others are able to check status fine.
I had not previously registered the serial number that I'm aware of.

Well, that was short and sweet. Got my 360 back in a little over a week!! I couldn't believe that. I was sceptical to turn it on, but so far it plays great. I hope I never have to do that again.
They sent me a free month of XBOX Live for "the inconvenience". I'm not much of an online gamer at all. Does anyone know if I can turn around and sell or trade off the free month?? Or is it tied to my 360 from the repair??

I am actually considering the same thing today. My launch 360 is starting to act odd. I got a screen of nothing but green wavy lines first, rebooted, now it sticks on the friends list (rebooted twice and the same thing happened), now I can't log into the marketplace or live.
If I get a new one, what do I have to look for to make sure I have the latest and greatest?

I just called (again) to get an update. They received a week ago today, and they're saying there is no ETA. This is really starting to piss me off. He was able to tell me nothing was in transit to me.
