Microsoft Surprisingly Admits That ALL Xbox 360s Are Defective

Well I got their new "arcade" core system for $279 (manufactured Sept, 2007), which comes with a wireless controller and a 258-memory card (and the system has an HDMI input), it also runs A LOT quieter. There's no way they can be making a profit off of that - I'm actually pretty stoked about it, and I'll probably just sell my old system after it's fixed for around $200.

Well, my 4th 360 arrived a few days ago and appears to be working. I also got a call from an MS rep today about my BBB complaint. Since the newest console is working, there's not a whole lot I could do, but the rep did apologize and I'll be getting a free wireless controller out of the whole mess. Honestly, at this point I'm just happy to have a working system and be done with it. Like I mentioned before, I'll just be selling this console anyway and keeping the backup system I got from Costco. I briefly considered keeping the 2nd 360 in my bedroom, but it's bad enough worrying about repairs for one of them, let alone dealing with two.

Gamestop No Longer Selling 360 Replacement Plans
As you can see from the Gamestop memo we obtained, Gamestop is no longer offering Xbox360 Product Replacement Plans on any new console. The plans currently out there will stay good until they expire. When we asked our source why this is happening, we were told it was because GS is losing too much money on the program! You can read this all for yourself, we included three different copies of the document, as it was taken with a cell phone and is a bit hard to read. You should be able to read one of the enhanced ones, though. Check for yourself at the link!

For those that have sent in their console(s) recently, did the Repair status on the service website ever update for you? Mine has said "Device Received at Service Center" for a couple weeks now. Thanks.

Mine does NOT have HDMI, which is fine considering my PS3 and my Toshiba HD A1 are covering the only two slots I have. I play my 360 on a TV w/o HDMI.
I just hope it has the Falcon chipset although my problem every time has been with the drive.
A friend of mine bought a "broken" 360 from a friend, flashed different firmware on it for the drive, and it has worked like a charm. Of course, it shows up as modded but he has it as a spare.

Don't modded XBox's get auto banned from Live?

Finally got my replacement 360. Manufacture date is 9-13-2007. No HDMI port. It's working good, so far. Been playing GH3 on it. Seems like it's a little quieter than my original one too.

I'm still wondering why my repaired 360 was the exact same one I sent in (launch unit). It sounds like everyone else got a newer unit.
Oh well, I've already sold it, so it's not a big concern.

Didn't some poster here suggest that you probably won't get a unit back with HDMI unless the one you sent in had it?
