I wouldn't recommend a 360 to anyone right now. This may change if they get their act together.

i'm still playing the patience game with the X360... i heard that the new bundles have the new chip, but MS won't slap a label saying they are new, because they want to move the older inventory (i.e. by telling people new improved models are available, the current outstanding X360s will be in trouble).

i heard that the Halo edition X360 already using the new chip... is this true? i'm thinking about getting one if it's indeed true. I know it has a small HDD, but since i use my PS3 for media files, i think 20gb should be okay... but then again, what about on-line market games? 20 gb doesn't seem to be enough...

The biggest of those games is right around 100mb and the vast majority are < 50mb. You'll be alright for a while with 20gb for just that.
I've heard the Halo edition is the Falcon chipset. Just look on the outside of the box for the printed label that says what lot, etc it came from. On there you should be able to see it say "Falcon" or "FLCN" or something. If it does, it has the 65nm chips. This is how it was confirmed the Pros were just white Elites and DIDN'T have the 65nm chips. |
Yes, the Halo 360's are using the new chipset.
20GB is way more than enough for arcade games, 95% of them are 50MB or under. |
I have an Elite now with a manufactured date of 6/25/07. Do I have anything new in mine? Resistant to red rings, etc?

I meant the cardboard box. And I only know for a fact it was on the Pro systems because I've seen it on mine. I don't know that the Halo boxes have that, but that's where it would be if they did.

Like I said, it may not be on the Halo box. I was just trying to help someone confirm something before they bought it. Pixy says they're all that way so it may not matter.

You could look out for the upcoming holiday bundles as well. |
No big deal. I was just trying to help since I have the box in front of me. If there is something else to look for, let me know and I will post it.
I would love to know if I have the new chip set as well. |

Just filed my BBB complaint. I'll post updates in this thread if anything comes of it.

2 questions for everyone that has went through this:
1. What is the warranty for the replacement 360 they send? Does it start over on the 3 years? 2. What happens if you don't send in your 360 but you receive the coffin? Do they charge you for anything? I'm asking this because my 360 has been acting up, so I requested a coffin, but the thing hasn't RROD yet, so I'm kinda stuck. Any helpful answers would be great. Thanks. |
Xbox 360 owner experiences customer service nightmare Posted Oct 14, 2007 at 09:13AM When we have problems with our electronics or consoles, we always turn to the product's customer service hotline for help. But what happens if customer service proved to be too...unhelpful? One of the moderators of the Xbox 360 achievement listing site, Achieve360Points, just went through what could be one of the most harrowing experience with customer service. He's got a long laundry list of problems, but here's the gist: Speaker Ender (the gamertag of said customer) had problems with the DRM on his premium Xbox Live content. To be fair towards MS's customer support staff, the problem was promptly solved the first time he had the DRM issue by having his MS points refunded by Microsoft. However, it was an entirely different story when he got the problem the second time around. Speaker Ender provided a breakdown of his experiences with Xbox 360's customer support staff: Number of calls to 1-800-4MY-XBOX since March: 22 calls Number of callbacks promised: 15 Number of callbacks received: 3 Most Number of times I was asked my name and phone number during a single call: 11 times Number of times I was told "Microsoft will contact you when the investigation is complete": 40+ Number of times that I ended up on the Spanish language hold line: 8 Total spent on Xbox 360 related products: $3120.78 Amount of XBL content not working properly: 25,600 points ($319.87) Total time spent on the phone with 1-800-4MY-XBOX: 1 day, 2 hours, 55 minutes Total time spent trying various remedies*: 1 day, 9 hours, 55 minutes TOTAL TIME TRYING TO RESOLVE ISSUES WITH MY XBOX 360s: 2 days, 2 hours, 50 minutes Indeed a sad story, and we hope that Speaker Ender manages to get the resolution he clearly deserves. |
