If you have the PS3 set to upscale there shouldn't be any lag (as far as I know). If you are letting the TV do it.. well, that's a known problem with HDTVs playing SD signals. Just be sure that you have your PS3 set to your TV's native resolution and not the highest resolution it accepts (ie: a lot of 720p TVs will take a 1080i signal, but then it has to downscale it to 720p, I believe).

This works for me. When I first got the PS3 I couldn't play MLB 06 on my 720p LCD because of the lag. The timing for the meter was impossible. After the upscaling update everything works fine. I have my PS3 set for 720P and the timing seems right now.

Thanks for the upscaling tips. I think it might be happening because I've got it set to 1080i. I'll uncheck that and make it go 720p and see what happens. (There's always the possibility that it's been so long since I've played Um Jammer Lammy that I'm just slow, too )

Is there any way to add the exact amount to your wallet when buying games from PSN, rather than adding increments of $5?

I think you can just add a game to your cart, and it'll take away the exact amount you need from your credit card when you checkout. When I bought Calling All Cars, I didn't add funds to my account, I just went straight to the PSN Store and added it to my cart.

Not 100% sure, but I think if what you're buying is under $5, you have to add at least $5. If the game is above $5, you can add the exact amount as you checkout.

You can add just what you need. Put it in your cart and check out. It will ask you if you want to add the exact amount.

I think this is right. Usually I can put in the exact amount, but the chicken game is looking like a $5 minimum. This actually makes sense when you consider credit card fees. Probably not worth it to Sony to sell less than $5 at a time.

I'm still going to get it. I'll use the balance on Everyday Shooter or something else down the road.

I believe it was sometime in early July...I forget the exact date though. Pretty quick if you ask me.

Saw a pretty cool game at Wizard World Chicago today. It's called Eye of Judgment. It's a collectible card game (like Magic: the Gathering) played on the PS3. The game comes with a deck of cards, a cloth playing surface, and a camera. The camera points at the playing surface and reads the different cards that get played. The different monsters on the card then appear on screen and you see battle animations of how the cards interact. Apparently, they'll also be selling booster packs, so you can spend more money even after you buy the game.

Just saw the 80gb PS3 with Motorstorm for $599 in this week's ads for Fry's and Best Buy. Might as well buy the 60 gb because it's not worth an extra $100 for the extra 20 gb and a game I don't want.

So it sounds like what they did in the anime series of Yu-Gi-Oh.

I only remember this from being announced literally seconds after Sony's opening comments from E3 2006: "We're not interested in gimmicks." But I think the PSP being used as a rear-view mirror in some racing game came before the card game.

The PSP as rear-view mirror was meant to be for F1 Championship Racing, but didn't make it to the final game. That card game sounds atrocious.

I did get to play it at Wizard World, and it was fun. I'm not sure how well it would hold up over the long run, but then again, I was never into CCGs, so I don't know that I'm the target audience. My big problem is that you need space to spread out the playing surface and set up the camera, and my coffee table is always so full of clutter that it would be a problem for me.

Oh well -- I don't have a PS3, so it's a moot point for me anyway.

‘Gamercard’ spotted in UT3 demo – is this PS3’s answer to the 360’s Gamertag?

Okay, I just caved and picked up a PS3 to sit beside my Wii. I'm loving the light vs. dark, good vs. evil aesthetic. Anyway, this purchase was pretty impulsive since I'd collected $400 worth of GCs and thought there no better way to spend them than all at once. I picked up The Bigs on sale this week at Best Buy with a Reward coupon but am looking to take advantage of the TRU Madden Sale this week - probably getting the DS Madden since I've not gotten into a Madden game since, maybe 2002 (but bought at least three since then ) but wouldn't mind a decent portable sports game. I've been trying to decide between Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Rainbow Six: Vegas - but the reviews seem to indicate it's a wash... but what does everyone here think? In a H2H competition, who do you take? R6:V or NGS? Neither would normally be an immediate purchase for me, but the reviews have me sold... on one of them. I would normally choose NGS but I don't have a ton of time to game anymore and the difficulty level is sort of concerning me (my patience for too-difficult games is waning). Meanwhile, I'm not very good at stealth shooters and generally prefer to play solo (hence one of my favorite games of the last few years is MGS: Subsistence), so the R6:V standard, single player game has to be worth admission.

This has probably been discussed indirectly in the past, but I got tired of assimilating information. Or maybe its just because my brain has been corrupted by Mario Strikers online stress and I can't handle complex thought.

So tell me what I should think.

My personal recommendation is Ninja Gaiden. The game looks beautiful, plays wonderfully, and just rocks. If you've played Ninja Gaiden or NJ Black on the original Xbox it won't be as much of a must have, though. And the game does have Ninja Dog mode for those who wish to beat it without breaking four controllers in frustration during the run of the game.

I've got Rainbow Six on the 360 and I don't think Subsistence is a very good comparison to it. They feel very, very different.

Yeah, I never played the XBox version of Ninja Gaiden, so it's all new to me.

In that case, you'd be foolish not to purchase NGS immediately. It's a must own for someone who hasn't played the Xbox versions.
