How the heck to you beat Raining Blood? I'm stuck at 38%. I beat all the other songs on the tier but man the MOSH 1 section I can't get past even with Star Power.

Can the Xbox/PS3 face plates work on the Wii guitar or no?

Seriously? You kick my ass in scores at this game and I got passed raining second or third try. That mosh 1 part is insane. I can somehow actually get the star power on the first part of it at least 80% of the time. I just kind of mash the buttons as fast as possible...and then they throw the chords and randomness in and I don't even know what is actually going on, so I strum faster and flail the fingers on my left hand as fast as they can go.

Okay. I just downloaded the demo and played it thru a regular controller and have to say I had fun playing "Evenflow" & "Rock You Like A Hurricane" on easy. I even took a chance and played "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" on medium and didn't do too bad. Tried "Evenflow" on hard and uh...I suck.

Of course this was doing it with the controller and some of the combo buttons on pushing the bumpers & triggers at the same time could cause some severe cramping after playing this several times.

So...some newbie questions:

I figured this but just making sure...is the guitar controller easier to use than the regular controller? I know it's gotta make it a hell of a lot more fun.

If I buy this guitar for III, does it work for GH2? I would like to know I could use this for more than one game (I have a 360).

Do you think there will be better deals and/or freebies for this come Black Friday? BB includes a Sex Pistols guitar cover (but only Kiss will do for me) and CC has a cool little guitar stand. I think Costco had this for about $10 bucks less than BB & CC but no extras.

Do you have access to all 70 songs or do you have to play better than easy or medium to unlock them all?

Thanks. I am seriously considering picking this up from the comments here, the demo, & reputation alone...and this is the kind of game I would never usually buy.

How do you play with friends online? I wanted to play with maxflier since I saw him on, sent him a message, then tried to figure out how to invite him for about 20 minutes before giving up. I'm probably just an idiot...

Answering brian above:
1: You can't be serious. The guitar isn't just preferable, it's ESSENTIAL.
2: Yeah, the GH3 controller will work with GH2. Not sure if the game is available seperately (unbundled) anywhere but as a used game, though.
3: Don't know. You might find a deal on BF. There were never good deals on GH or GH2 until the 360 version came out, then there were several bargains with it.
4: GH3 requires several things to unlock all the songs, including (incredibly) to play some songs on same console co-op (two guitar controllers) in order to get some songs.

I got some time in on GHIII (PS2) Sunday afternoon (before the Pats game) and came away with mostly positive impressions. The wireless Kramer was kind of annoying to set up at first, but once I got it to work, it handled pretty well. That makes three guitars I own now, but hey... getting the wireless was nice.

I'm liking some of the things that Neversoft did here with the game. Seeing a constant note streak add up is both cool and tense at the same time. How high can you go? Oh, wait... don't look or else... CRAP. Lost my streak. The story sequences (I've only seen co-op so far... will work on Solo later today) was pretty funny, too... they look like a Gorillaz video, and that's not bad.

I'm split on the tunes. I'm loving the master tracks here... and stuff like Rage and Smashing Pumpkins really get my juices flowing. There's stuff here that I've never heard of (What's the obsession with Blue Oyster Cult here?), and a lot of it is stuff I could do without. Of course, I'm only at the fourth tier, so that may change... but as of now, I'm split.

The redrawn character models are iffy. Axel looks weird, no matter what outfit he's in. He seems a little... goofier.

If this is the last GH game for the PS2, I'm OK with what I've experienced so far... but as for the final verdict... well... that'll come by week's end. :-)

I would doubt it, since the Wii guitar houses the Wiimote, and then cover would then cover the wiimote. Unless you took a dremel to it.

I also think the Wii guitar is smaller going by that MTV vid a few pages back.

I had the exact same issue last night. He got the achievement and I didn't. I have a feeling it's a safety issue, and the only person who gets the achievement is the person who's save it is. Otherwise, someone could throw their save on a memory card with just the final song to beat and go around to their friends and get them all that achievement for playing one song.

It doesn't really matter that much because we still need to go through it again and switch places (I was playing backup). However, it's gonna totally blow ass when we go for the 5* everything on co-op (which may include non-Campaign songs), and end up having to do it twice! I don't want to have to 5* everything on Expert twice!

Is anyone else having trouble with the guitar for the Wii? Mine will often register a double stroke if I hit the strum bar too hard.

Did your buddy sign into his live account at your house? I know with GH2 a friend of mine came over and we both got the achievements.

I'm really liking this game so far. Its the first GH game that I have played other than a store demo. I want to change my star power sensativity though. I don't like have to play a completely vertical guitar to use it.

You don't have to keep it vertical, once the star power kicks in, go back to horizontal.

Yes, we were both logged in at all times. We did it over a few sessions, so maybe therein lies the problem?

It seems to be really hit and miss...others are claiming no achievements for the second player and like I said earlier, my friend got 5 of the 7 we unlocked (note streak and score ones he got no problem)... they need to fix this somehow!

I had no problem getting the score or notestreak ones. However, I didn't get the one for being Backup through a whole career, or for beating career on Expert.

I was logged in with my profile too. I got none of the achievements my friend got. No streak, 8x multi, co-op, or anything. The only thing I could think of, and it doesn't make sense, is where his save data was. I have two friends at that house. They both have a 360. We were playing on the one downstairs. He had his profile and save data on his mem card. My profile was on my mem card. I may be going back over tonight, so I'll see if I get achievements if I move my profile to his mem card. I always got achievements in GH2 no matter which player I was, as long as my profile was logged in. Maybe GH3 is just buggy.

That is wierd. I wonder if an update is on the way.

I couldn't figure out what to do either, I was waiting for an invite then started to think maybe I was supposed to just join your game myself or something, but I really have no idea how the online thing works.

like several people here, i have never played a GH game except in the store kiosk. with all the positive buzz here, i am seriously considering getting GH3 thinking that i might enjoy it, as well as my kids.

I know this is completely subjective, but we have a 360, PS3 and a Wii....which would be the preferable version?

Also I haven't noticed anyone mention that target has a PS2 bundle with TWO guitars and the game for $89.99 (basically an extra guitar for free)

My opinion is that if you do not already own a previous GH game the 360 is the way to go, and here's why -

• PS3 guitar is NOT compatible with previous games on the PS2
• Wii doesn't have any previous titles in the series to be compatible with
• Xbox 360 IS combatible with GHII, you can play two games with the guitar with the 360
• DLC - The PS2 won't have this ability.

Those are the biggest determining factors for me. If I'm paying $100 for a guitar and game, I want to be able to play more than that one game. 360 is the only one that has the option to play more than just GHIII with your guitar and offers DLC. If you have a PS2 and don't care about DLC, that may be the way to go since you have 3 previous games in the franchise to fall back on.

i saw it yesterday when i picked up the 360 version. though i do believe those are WIRED guitars.
