You know...I despise games where you have to rhythmically push buttons. It's not fun to me and I usually suck at it.

But damn if that Kiss custom plate for the guitar makes me almost want to run out and buy the damn game (which I have never played a version of other than a demo in the store).

Is this something worth trying out? If you usually hate button mashing rhythmn games (such as Elite Beat Agents/dancing games/that fireworks game (?)) should you just stay far away?

I'm no fan of button mashing either, but I it hooked me in. Go to Best Buy or GameStop and try out the demo. It's really as close to crack as you can legally buy.

I don't like any of the games you mentioned, but I love GH. IMO, if you like the music in the game, you'll have lots of fun with it. And I'm not very good, and I'm sure I have just as much fun as those who are 5 starring every song on expert. So you don't have to be good at it to enjoy it.

I didn't think I'd care for it either, but a buddy lent me his kid's guitar, and I had a blast. I don't think I could have gotten a true feeling for it by just trying it at the store, though.

I absolutely hate those types of games and I love Guitar Hero. I also love music, so that probably helps. So if you hate both rhythm games and rock music, then maybe you should stay away from this game.

Just picked up Guitar Hero 3 for the Wii 10 minutes ago. Still doing Wii Updates since I haven't turned my Wii on in a month and a half. Can't wait to play

That said I'm enjoying and having fun with the songs, so...

As I understand it, Activision had to recreate the game style from the ground up because the original creators (who are making Rock Band) didn't provide them with their code, or something like that...

YES. I've been playing online with my 360 all day against people everywhere. It is friggin' fun brother! BTW, when I stopped by BB to get my copy with guitar for the 360, the lady there said if I wanted to get a year worth of XBOX live, I would get another ten dollars off with the combined purchase. Info for those wanting to get both.

Not sure where you got this info, but I'd love to see your source.
Here you go brother. All the guitar compatiblities for all systems. The Guitar Hero guitars will work with Rock Band, but you won't be able to use the specialty fret buttons like on the Rock Band guitar.

What's the word on when they're going to release an extra controller. Right now I have no idea if getting anybody to play co-op cause they don't want to use the Wii-mote

I finally beat fricking Lou and then was faced with something that made me even madder than that goldern useless battle. What I was faced with was having to play through ALL of the difficulty levels to get enough money to buy out the shop! ARGH! I can stand to do "hard", but just like in GH2 (where I never got the achievements), I can't stand to play on medium or easy, so I guess I'll never get everything the shop has to offer .

Played some online with a friend tonight and then had someone stop over to play. It's still sooo much nicer to play in the same room with people but the online part of the game could grow on me.

I HATE playing them too (hard is what I have the most fun playing on), but I am making myself play through on Easy and Medium right off the bat to get the achievements for those out of the way.

Yeah, I had that happen to me too. I played over at a friends house. He got the note streak and co-op career achievements, and I didn't. My guitar was the second controller. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. It's lame though.

I got mine, but due to a press event, I won't be able to play it until Tuesday night at the earliest (I know, poor me, right?). So far I love the construction and the heft of the Les Paul. Feels good in my hands. Other than that, all I have to go off of is the demo, which disappointed me. On the other hand, I like the videos I've seen of the boss battles, so hopefully I'll enjoy those.

By the way, where is this Kiss faceplate people are mentioning?

I would rather see Destroyer, KISS, Dressed to Kill, or even Hotter than Hell...and especially ALIVE, but nonetheless, it's still cool.

That's the beauty of these games (Rock Band/Guitar Hero III). I suck balls at this. I tried some Foghat on Medium today, and failed 15 seconds in. I'm good at Easy, though, and I love it.

What's really cool is that I went online, played someone on Expert, and beat them. When you play online, you choose your own difficulty level, and the winner is based on whomever hits the highest percentage of their notes. So while the other guy was playing on Expert, I won the match while playing on Easy.

And in Rock Band, you can play at different difficulty levels than your bandmates. They really do a great job of making these games fun for all skill levels.

So I beat the game on medium and afterwards I tried Through The Fire and Flames, and that song is just so rediciously hard just on medium. I tried it on expert and I failed in less than 5 seconds. I'm amazed that some people can beat it on expert.

Earlier, my wife and I played some co-op, and we both got the note streak achievements.

Yeah, I looked around and found it on Best Buy's website. Personally, Love Gun has my favorite Kiss album cover, so seeing that was like a dream come true. I had some reward zone certificates, so I ordered the Kiss faceplate and the Alice Cooper faceplate for a total of $10.80.

Edit: I've also done something I've never done with any of my four previous GH controllers...put stickers on it. I put on the "Turn it up to 11" sticker (upside down for that authentic Spinal Tap feel), the Guns 'n' Roses sticker, and one of those small shrieking skulls. They look much better on the black than they do on the white or red, and it gives the guitar a little more character (or at least it will until those faceplates arrive).

Yay. Bought my guitar hero 3 pack for xbox360, was greeted with a green button that was having trouble working...unplugged the neck, plugged it back in, unplugged it again. Now the green button works about 95% of the time. Then I noticed my strum bar felt shitty. MY friend brought his controller over to play some coop and we noticed that my strum bar 'floats' in that it moves back and forth and up and down and is not stable in the guitar. His is perfect. I plan on bringing it back, but was told by my friend and his girlfriend (both who work at future shop that they are totally sold out and will definitely have more by Christmas. My most anticipated release, I could barely sleep last night with excitement, was one of the first ones there this morning and now I have to wait for at least another month before i get a copy. I'm beyond pissed off.

Yeah, just take it back to get your money back and buy it elsewhere. There's plenty of places that have these...they're not sold out by any means.
