I saw that Dead Rising content mentioned on Joystiq. They said it was capcom's way of saying thank you for making it and Lost Planet million sellers. rotfl Giving us content that no one in their right mind would pay for. Then charging for the new themes. Classic. Thanks Capcom!

Wasn't that long since out the window with Gears of War being $60?

So who buys these themes? Anyone here?

The only theme I bought was a Halo Wars one where for some reason I thought it was free and clicked on it. Otherwise, I download all the free ones, even the really crappy ones. I guess I can understand if you love a game like Gears of War, you'd want the theme. But they charge for some of the movie themed ones too, and those are basically advertisements... I'd like to see the sales on that Jamie Kennedy movie one.

I have bought two themes because they were pin-up art which i absolutely love and own several books of this art style. I bought the CoD3 pin-up theme and one of the Battlestations pin-up themes.

I did also buy the pin-up gamerpic pack.

I bet Jamie would be happy if those proceeds bought him a cup of coffee at Dunkin Donuts.

There was always hope. What other MS games have come out since? Crackdown, which was $60 as well. Anything else?

Forza is also MS published, I believe. As is Halo 3. I don't think the $50 for first-party games is ever going to happen.

Corrected ;) The first batch of first party games were $49.99.

Michael Corvin 06-01-07 03:29 PM

But isn't everyone giving a $10 GC or a free game for buying Forza? That is decent. Not quite the same, but I'd take it over nothing.

Yeah, and Circuit City's giving away a free $20 360 game if you buy Forza 2 or Shadowrun. If you have to pay $60 for a new game, it's nice to at least get a little something extra with it.

Is there any way to file a negative report on someone if you haven't actually played with them? I was looking through the auction house last night in Forza and someone had up a car with a huge swastika on the hood with "White Power" on one side, and "Ship Those ***********s Back" on the other. I looked and looked and couldn't find any way to file a complaint against the user. When I came back to the tv a couple minutes later, the auction was gone, but I don't know if that's because it was removed, or the auction actually ended legit.

If anyone knows how to file off of just the gamertag or something, let me know. I don't have his gamertag, but I'm sure I'll see something again. This is unfortunately what happens when you give people the power to create custom in-game content. There's a lot of other really cool paintjobs out there that are just fantastic, and then you run across this racist jackass.

SteelgearX 06-02-07 11:15 AM

I'd suggest gathering as much info as you can next time and just fire off an e-mail to MS. I'm sure they'd take something like that pretty seriously.

SteelgearX 06-02-07 11:17 AM

BTW, can someone please tell me why the hell my "quote" button is gone? Is it just me? Did I accidentally turn it off somehow or did the website change?

Your adblocker is blocking http://ads.kleinman.com. The quote button comes from http://ads.kleinman.com/images.

Josh H 06-02-07 11:59 AM

Conversely your firewall program could also be blocking that address.

I figured as soon as they saw third party games sell well at $60, and then Gears sell well at that price it was a given that we'd never see another $50 release other than maybe for some cheaper development cost party game/minigame collection etc.

I think the $50 first party games at launch was just a way to slightly appease people bitching about the price increase--just like Sony had the $500 PS3 at launch and quit making it right after.

Anyone downloaded the Hour of Victory demo yet?
I got stuck on the first board, and could figure out what to do.
Strange considering how linear it was.
Just wondering if it's a bug or something?

Hey all, quick n00b question for 360.

I just joined Xbox Live last night and cannot figure out how to play GH2 online with someone.

Any guidance is appreciated.

hail2dking 06-04-07 03:21 PM

you can't

All the ones I have seen have been hideously atrocious and make the text unreadable. I wouldn't use a theme for free...and they want to charge for this crapola?¿

Yeah, you can't. But GH3 and Rock Band will both have online modes, apparently. Wait till winter 2007.

I bought the Penny Arcade gamerpics (obviously) and I bought the Halo 3 theme, although I only used it for an hour (I didn't like it).

Next time, use http://dashboardthemes.com/ to check out a theme before putting down those hard-earned points.
