Why the fuck can't they just say "more songs coming soon?" Why the cryptic BIG ANNOUNCEMENT bullshit?

Maybe the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT is "There will be no more DLC for the XBOX 360."

Honestly I'd wager they are going to announce '80s songs for next DLC.

That's what I was thinking too.

still, I think it stinks that they claimed "the most DLC of any game" as a way of getting sales, and then backed off that promise with 12 songs so far.

Maybe they actually are the 80's songs, and they're holding off on the announcement so as to not cannibalize sales of the PS2 game.

No laughing...I'm not very good at this game...

One thing I always have a ton of trouble with is on parts like "Guitar Solo i" on Freebird, where you go back and forth between 2 notes really fast - like red/yellow/red/yellow/red/yellow, etc. - I just cannot get these for the life of me. Any suggestions? I've practiced them on slow speeds and can't even get them very good. <---- Me

Just to show how bad I am, I've 5 starred everything on medium (big whoop), but can only beat about 10 songs on hard. If I could figure out how to do the above it would help me a ton. HO & POs also give me trouble (the song holding me up on hard is Woman, where you go up and down using them in quick succession). Anywho, just thought maybe somebody would have a suggestion. This is one of the things that seems like (without having actually played a guitar before) it seems as though it would be easier to do on a real guitar.

I've NEVER played this game, and only seen it once for about 30 seconds. It ships to me on Wednesday...bought it on hype alone. Tell me what to expect...how does it work, etc.

Start on easy and work your way up. This game takes practice.

The biggest thing when going between two alternating notes is realizing that you don't have to release the lower note to play the upper one. So on a section that alternates repeatedly between red and yellow, you can hold red the whole time, then press/release yellow as needed. This reduces the amount of fingerwork needed.

xVladx gave a good tip about the alternating notes. My biggest suggestions for playing on hard and expert is get used to using your pinky (even if you can easily move your hand to use your ring finger) even though you ahve to force yourself to do it. Also your "home" position for many songs should be index finger on red. Stretch down to green when possible and move your hand as little as possible (this is easiesr for people with bigger hands obviously but is worth trying for everybody).

Woman is a very difficult song. My wife has 5*'d 18 of the first 20 songs on Hard, with Woman being one she struggles to consistently 4*. Many people complain about the song, so don't get discouraged.

MAN! That helps!! I didn't know you could do that. I have the same problem with songs with the quick alt notes over and over. I knew there must have been a trick, and there is!

Awesome!

I finally beat Freebird on hard last night. So that difficulty is now 48/48. I'm working my way up the expert ladder, currently 21/48 complete. I'm in the top five of my friends list for career score. I'm right on the heals of maxflier but the gap after that is pretty big.

I know your pain. I was stuck on that song for a while. I must have played it about 20-30 times before I beat it. Amazingly, I blew through most of the rest of the songs after that. I think the only song I got stuck on after Freya was Intitutionalized, but that didn't take nearly as long to beat. I refuse to play Freya ever again. I'm not too fond of Psychobobilly Freakout either.

Try using your ring finger to hit O when it gets to the repetitive part, while at the same time also hitting B with your middle finger, then slide down and hit the YB notes with those same two fingers. Also go right into the next G note - the song is fast enough that you don't have to rest between the YB and G notes. Also down-strum all three notes.

Is there a way to browse people/games scores without an Xbox live account (or an XBOX )? I've got a custom PS2 disc which contains the 360 exclusive songs so I'd like to see where I fall in the overall rankings once I add all my song scores together, and not just the less used XBOX rankings on Scorehero.

Made that post a while back, and it's easier to just link it than to retype all that (especially given Scorehero's nifty little note drawing system).

Freya's one of those songs that's pretty easy once you get a good fingering method down, and it went from one of my least favorite ones to one I play at least once a session.

Glad I could help. That's one of those tricks that isn't in the manual or the tutorials, but is in the loading screen notes. It's extremely helpful when trying to simplify fingerings (check the above link for another example).

Just post your combined score here and I'll gladly look up where in the rankings you would fall - that would be easiest.

FWIW my score, at around 12.7M is in the upper 400's.
