It's a 37" vizio. Everything looks amazing on it but I just can't play guitar hero with the lag. What difficulty are you guys playing on? Hyperspeed?

No idea what hyperspeed is, I play my game the way it came. Have not had to adjust lag or anything.

Your vizio doesn't have a "game" mode or something similar that disables the processing? It would sadden me if I couldn't play GH anymore.

word is no more 360 DLC until August .. according to the GH forums, there was a message posted on the French (!) site saying that more DLC was planned for August with all-new songs (some taking that to mean not GH1 songs).

I read this too, so I guess we're looking at potentially one more set of DLC for August, and then GH3 drops in September and I'm sure all future DLC will be going over there.

It's a shame, because I would have loved to play through some of the GH1 songs with the newer HO/PO systems and actually be good at them (Cowboys, Texas Flood, Crossroads). Hopefully, GH3 will emulate Harmonix's engine well enough to be worthwhile. However, come November, I don't think I'll care about GH anymore.

Well since it is Harmonix, maybe the GH1 songs will be going over to Rock Band! That would be pretty cool.

Believe it or not, I heard somewhere that the Harmonix people still have the rights to the songs from GH 1 and 2...

Yeah, I read that too, from here I think. So that could mean any GH 1 and 2 songs could be either included in Rock Band or made downloadable.

Not that I know of. I can't even do the first part of hangar 18 without missing 3 or 4 random notes, and I never hit the first note. I will miss random notes in every song when I know I him hitting them right. I can play trogdor pretty much without looking on most parts and I'll even miss then.

This is true. Harmonix owns the rights to all the songs from GH1 & 2, as well as all of the GH engine code. Basically, all RedOctane got was the Guitar Hero name, and the character designs. Harmonix definately got the better end of the deal, because people will go where Harmonix is at, regardless of the GH name.

When I got the game (I never had GH 1/2 on PS2) for the 360, I played it on my DLP. The game was a totally new experience for me, and it took some getting used to, so any troubles I was having I figured was just because I wasn't good yet. After playing (on my DLP) for a couple weeks, I felt that I was OK at the game. I was starting on the hard set, and for the first time, I had a buddy stop over to play (who had an SDTV). He was about 3/4 of the way done with hard, and he's a better player than I (at that point).

We fire up the game and he starts with his favorite practice song, Possum Kingdom on hard. I'm sitting there waiting to see some ass-kickin' because like I said, I just started playing on hard. Here come the first chords........Tink, Tink, note, note, Tink, Tink, Tink.... My buddy stopped playing & looked at me and said "WTF!!??". He started over and pow, same kinda thing. He said something was wrong, but to that point, I never messed with the calibration because I thought it was fine since that's the way I started playing.

Anyhow, he roughed through the night & became somewhat 'used to' the lag. The next day he tells me that he kicked ass when he got heme & played, and he discovered the lag option & said that was probably the problem. I adjusted the lag on the game and it was all over the place every time, sometimes 5ms, then 34ms, then 12ms, then 60ms. Who the Hell can tell where it really should be? Two days later, the bulb blows on my DLP, so I hook up my 32" LCD. At first, I was off just like my buddy, but after a few games, I realized that the game was actually dead-on now. I checked the calibration setting and time after time it was 0ms. I've been playing on the LCD ever since, and I'm actually decent now. I'm heading into the 6th set of expert.

If you play on a DLP, check out the game on an SD or LCD...or, NEVER check out the game on an SD or LCD, lol.

That is an awesome deal. Just ordered it. From the rewardZone website it looks like that deal was supposed to be for the 80s + guitar bundle. This definitely takes a lot of the sting out of the $49 MSRP.

I tried pre-ordering last night through the website with in-store pickup to get the free $15 gift card, but it kept wanting to charge for the GC, I gave up and will just pick it up in-store on Tuesday and get the gift card that way. Beats waiting for the GC to come in the mail anyways, I guess.

Well, I was trying to tough it out and get used to the lag nonsense, and I broke the whammy bar again on the Explorer. WTF? I dont abuse it at all, I know you don't get more star power from doing it faster and I am actually really gentle. My original SG has over 200 hours of use on it from me alone. My red SG has had at least 100 hours and more whiskey/beer spilled on it than needs to be mentioned. Both are still running strong. I'm just a bit right now.

You don't get more star power from doing the whammy bar faster? For some reason I always assumed you did.

Thanks for sharing your story, and I hear ya. Having never played GH on anything but the 360 on my DLP (and getting adept enough to be ranked in the 400's in career on the scoreboards, and cracking the top 20 in a handful of songs) I went over to the Samsung display to show off to my co-worker while visiting a Best Buy during lunch. Boy did I suck.

over on the official GH site forum, a RedOctane rep has made this comment

"A quick heads up for everyone. Be on the lookout for an announcement coming early August regarding Xbox 360 DLC."

take it with a grain of salt, as he also said an announcement was coming in July that never happened.

I'd rather have a pack of those 80's songs instead of more GHI songs.
