As for me, partially an impulse purchase. Well, for one, can't find a PS3 (Amazon, no taxes). Two, people talked alot about the Wii. Three, there were CC coupons around, for $200, i can't complain. Four, i went with the hype, so what...

I haven't noticed any isses with the WiiConnect 24. The only thing I had to do is to lower the brightness of the cd tray light when you have a message. I was once awoken at 3 in the morning because I got a message from Nintendo and the light was very bright.

Ah, good to know, thanks...
Every times you want to browse the internet channels, you have to set the connect24 option to ON, else you can't go on-line. Being paranoid, i hate to have anything turned on 24/7 (except for the frige).

So I finally got my Wii problem 'fixed.' As some of you may recall, I had power issues with my Wii just after the new year (I bought a system at launch). They sent me a new AC adapter which didn't fix it, so I shipped my Wii to them and finally got a replacement Wii today. They couldn't salvage any of the saved data from my old Wii (over 70 hours of time put in...thank god I atleast had just beaten Zelda) yet in the paperwork they sent with the console, there was NO apology or any other offer of compensation. I called them today and told them I was unsatisfied with just an apology over the phone as my time/effort that was lost is on Nintendo's hands not mine. I felt that a free game would be reasonable compensation. After the CSR spoke with his supervisor, I was only offered a classic controller and a Zelda strategy guide (note the irony considering I already did everything in the game already) and told that they were unable to offer a regular wii remote, a game, or even virtual console points without giving any real good reason. I asked to speak with a manager but they were busy with other customers at the moment, so I'm currently awaiting a call back. If you guys could re-add me to your address book (my new Wii friend code is in my sig) and I will do like-wise. If any of you could send me celebrity Miis again, I'd appreciate it

theres no such thing...
release dates change all the time, especially if the release is projected 2+ months in advance
you can always as a EB/GS worker to print out their list for you

Anyone notice that EB Games and Gamestop don't have WiiPlay listed anymore? Best Buy doesn't have a date at all. Amazon still has next Tuesday listed. I really hope this comes out next week.

I actually threw $5 down on Wii Play a month or so back. One of the rare times I pre-ordered anything. I figured, with the Wiimote being hard to find, it would be a wise move.
You can sort them how you wish, but note, it only recognizes 100 tracks. You can obviously fit way more than that on a 1GB card, but it won't see them.

Yeah, it won't be cheaper at all. The PS2 controller just has a cord that goes to the console, this would just have a plug for the Wiimote. All that saves is the cord, and cords are cheap.
So I don't see it being any cheaper than the $40 PS2 wired controller, nor the game bundle below $70-80.
Now if he means cheaper than the PS2 wireless controller then I agree that "could be" as they wouldn't need to build wireless into the controller nor pack it with a receiver.

I have no experience with the game or the controllers beyond watching other people play.
I do know they had a wireless one that was shit. It was lagging and would often lose connectivity. Piggy-backing the Wii remote would eliminate that.
I do know they have some sort of gyroscope built in so that you can "kick it" or whatever. Again, handled by the Wii remote.
Maybe the loss of the wire and the gyroscope doesn't amount to much cost, but I still think that's how it should be done. I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to require it and take some extra licensing fees, but I hope they're treating 3rd parties better than that.

Even if it cut costs, it's likely the publisher would charge the same as on the other consoles anyway. Just more money in their pockets and most won't feel it's a rip off since it just costs the same as on the other consoles.
As for the wireless ones for the PS2, the 3rd party ones are junk like all third party hardware. The official wireless controller from Red Octane supposedly works 100% fine.

after quite a bit of haggling, Nintendo finally gave me some decent compensation for my data loss....a wii remote.
