It really is. I was going to go out looking today, but all the snow we're getting has made me decide against it.

In any event, if anyone sees one, and wouldn't mind picking it up, I'd be willing to pay for it & shipping.

Reminds me of when I was in college in Ann Arbor and Madden 92 came out on the Genesis - suddenly everybody needed a 2nd gamepad. I waited over a month for Babbage's to get to my name on the waitlist.

Well, the good new is I finally picked up a WII at Wal-Mart last Friday. They had three in stock. The bad news...my son's birthday is mid-March and my wife is making me keep it stored as a birthday gift for him.

I think I'm going to sneak it out of the box a few times before then!

Explain to her that you need to take it out, connect it to the internet to download the updates.... system updates, weather channel, news channel, and internet channel. You don't want to spend an hour or two doing those updates on your son's birthday. Not to mention that you want to make sure that it isn't defective...

I might see if I can pick you one up tomorrow.

I saw several at the Wal-Mart on Hurstbourne today. Didn't know he needed it until I got back.

I kind of impulse bought one... I wanted one, and was eventually going to buy one. I went shopping at walmart for groceries and notice that 5-6 people were standing outside. They told me there were going to be 30 Wii's so I decided (with the wifes permission ) that I would get on then. So even though I wanted one, I bought it on impulse that day.

This worked for me. My boy unwrapped an empty Wii box on Xmas and he was promptly handed a controller. He didn't have to wait at all.

I just had the Wii on its vertical stand between the TV and the AV rack camoflauged in various ways, my favorite of which was a DVD boxset case.

Just don't forget when you are sneaking in a play at night that the remotes can be loud.

Yep. That's where I got 'em. They've been hanging there for a week.

Snagged a couple and noted so in your thread. I will post the other in the exchange forum for anyone else that is interested.

I also posted a trade list for the other one if you want to check that out abrg.

That's what I meant. An impulse buy is something you buy because it's there and it strikes your fancy--a pack of gum at the checkout line, or even a new release dvd/game you didn't know was out but looks cool when you are browsing the aisles. I don't think an impulse buy is a bad thing necessarily, and I don't think it is in this case either. If I were Sony, I wouldn't like the Wii being an impulse buy--PS3 already has the price difference, and many 'casual' gamers might be more resistant to buying a second console.

I finally was able to snag a nunchuck at Best Buy today. The shelf no longer had a price sticker, I was afraid that they had raised the price like the Wii point card. Luckly it was still $19.99 ($14.99 with the gamer gift certifiacte coupon).

I just received a Wii message from Nintendo. It reminded me to check their website support about replacement straps.

Thanks a ton, man. I Paypaled you the money for the classic controller. I'd like to grab the second, but didn't have anything on your trade list, and not looking to buy another at the moment.

Thanks! I owe you one.

Is Sonic & the Secret Rings a difficult game? IGN thinks so. Interview with S&tSR Director

Sounds good to me. I've been keeping my eye on this one, it looks rather fun. It also looks like it would be easy and short. I'm glad to hear there is some challenge to the game.

It appears there are 40 minigames included as well. That's almost a whole other game! You get around 60 for the Mario Parties. So not bad. I might have to use some coupons & gift cards to pick it up.

The release date has been moved up to Feb. 20th as well. Two weeks from today.

That game looks really good. The one I am most eagerly awaiting is SSX Blur. I think that releases sometime in February as well.

I'm mildly interested in the Sonic game, but I've never been a huge fan of the series and the 3D games suck, so I'll have to wait for reviews and if they are good wait for a price drop.

Sonic games will never be worth $50 to me. So I guess I'm still waiting for something after Zelda that is worth buying a current prices before I can dust off my Wii.

Yeah, no way it will be worth $50, but with a $10 BB coupon and another $10 in RZ certificates takes it to $30 for me. Add a $10 Gift Card burning a hole in my pocket and $20 makes it quite reasonable.

Saw some screenshots from Mario Party 8 last night and saw what looked like a 4 player splitscreen home run derby. That game could be absurdly fun.

I cannot wait for Sonic. I've got it all paid off at work and I'm just counting the days until it comes out.

Does anyone know... I've been renting Twilight Princess from Gamefly. I really like it. I've been thinking of buying it and want a new copy (instead of the midly scratched rented copy that Gamefly will let you buy from them). Do you know if I put in a new disc, if my current saves will work with it? Or will I have to start over?

Your saves are stored on the internal memory in the Wii, not on the disc, since you cannot write to that media.

Where you would lose your save is if your Wii died and you got a replacement. Unless you had a backup copy of your save game on an SD card, you'd lose you save games.

I don't know about official word, but I can say that I left my Wii hooked up at work for weeks at a time (I can't get it to connect online at home), and I never had any problems. I haven't brought it in for 2 weeks, I really should get it back in here and download the latest updates and check out the new virtual console games.

Mine has been hooked up and online since I got it the first weekend in December.

I haven't noticed any isses with the WiiConnect 24. The only thing I had to do is to lower the brightness of the cd tray light when you have a message. I was once awoken at 3 in the morning because I got a message from Nintendo and the light was very bright.
