Well this was a given. Nintendo has thousands of games at their disposal. Games that they aren't touching, just dumping on there. No updated graphics, sound or achievements.

I do think MS is sitting on titles though. Classic arcade titles like Asteroids shouldn't be the release of the week, it should be coupled with something newer giving people a couple of options every week.

My worry is the rash of viruses that will go around if a Browser is included. I really don't want to have to install Anti-Virus & Spyware protection on my 360.

The anti-virus software companies are doing a great job. I don't think you'll have any virus concerns if there is a browser add-on for the 360. Windows viruses would not be an issue.

Wouldn't these virus-making assholes have to specifically make a virus that would affect a video game console? I don't think a standard PC virus would affect them.

But, yeah, I do not want viruses and spyware on my video game console. PC viruses/spyware can drastically affect PC games, making them have massive framerate slowdown and other problems. I would never use my console for web surfing because I don't want something that is going to make Gears of War run at 5 frames per second. Web surfing should stay on PCs where it belongs IMO.

Does anyone know if Xbox Live subscriptions self-renew? That is, when my year is up, will they automatically change my credit card for a second year? Or is there a confirmation screen or something so that you have to give your consent?

I believe it auto-renews sans confirmation. You do get an email though that it was renewed.

...As well as a fair warning a month before renewal.

Didnt want to start a new thread, but have a quick question. I just purchased a 360 last night (I am loving it so far) but tonight it froze up a few times while playing (COD2 and PDZ)

Does this mean I have to exchange it?

Thanks for your help, and hope to see some of you online when I get it working

I think you should be ok, I have had my 360 for a year and have had my fair share of freeze up myself. If it keeps freezing up them you worry.

You bought it last night and tonight it is freezing up? Uh yeah I would definitely exchange it or at least get the extended warranty. Freezing problems are never a good sign, and definitely not a good sign when you have only had it for a day.

I'd exchange it too. I had mine 8 months without any freezing. Once the freezing started, it never stopped and a few days later gave me the red lights.

Mine was made in 10/2006, I just played Burnout for 2 solid hours and the thing isn't hot at all.

I called this evening to get a coffin sent for my to replace it. I didn't get red lights - instead i have gotten an increased number of dirty disc errors, on one of my games i have gotten a light circular scuffing, and the oddest thing of all - it no longer recognizes Gears of War as a game. It reads it like a DVD so when i put in Gears it gives me a message that i must put this disc in a "Xbox 360 Console."

Kind of a bummer i won't have it over my holiday break but it will give me some time to catch up on my reading and do some studying.

My box is coming tomorrow for the 2nd time. 3 months ago I had the red lights and 2 weeks ago I got my wireless headset tried to sync it and the sync wouldnt work. I took out the face plate and saw the button was deeper than normal. I pressed it and the button fell inside the system so now I cannot sync it. I got the system back 3 months ago and the controller worked on the spot so I never got a chance to test the sync button until 2 weeks ago. I am sure something happened the first time they had it where they probably put it back together and hit something in that area to loosen it.

I guess I will be forced to playing the WII and PS3 finally over the next 1-2 weeks considering all the holidays and non shipping days.

What's the consensus on warranties for the XBOX360? I bought mine at CC last weekend. Should I buy CC's extended warranty plan? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Are you guys sure you're getting boxes? When I exchanged my 360 a couple of months ago, I was told Microsoft was no longer sending out boxes, and you had to ship them yourself.

They told me they are sending me a box to ship it via UPS. I have the 2 year extended warranty with them if that matters.

Like miyu said, get the microsoft one not the CC or BB ones. I just got the one year which activated 90 days after purchase. I've had mine since launch with no problems so far. :fingers crossed:

Stupid question(s): Is the warranty info. included in the box? (Haven't opened it yet.) And what makes the MS one better? Wouldn't the CC plan allow me to exchange the defective unit at CC rather than sending it to MS?
