Official Xbox 360 thread 3.1

Ive downloaded an episode of the original star trek series in HD and it was very well done. The Enterprise series should be even better looking. Im waiting more for season 2, and yes you own the episode forever once you download it. You can download it as many times as you want.
I dont know why some people had an issue with the updates. It could be because they needed to clear the cache. My xbox got screwwy because i think I pushed the silver x button or something while it was downloading. It stuttered a little and from then on things were weird. Clearing the cache gave me a chance to download it clean again.

"Try clearing your cache of the game. Oblivion uses the Xbox 360 hard drive extensively to cache (copy and reuse) game data. This is done to optimize all loading the game does. It has been found in rare cases on some Xbox 360s that the cached data can get overly fragmented. This exhibits itself by the game taking a long time to load anything from menus, dialogue, sounds, objects, levels, and more.
To solve this problem, reset your Xbox, and hold down the A button as the game is booting up. If any button is held while Oblivion is loading, it will clear its hard drive cache, and create a new one. Once you see the Bethesda Softworks logo video, the game is already loaded, and the cache should have been cleared. Note, this does not affect your game in any way other than loading. You will not lose any saved data."

Saints Row's Ho Pak
No doubt about it, the dirtiest 'ho-filled videogame on the Xbox 360 is THQ's thug-romp, Saints Row. With its foul-mouthed dialog and soft-porn escort missions, Volition's game isn't for the soft-hearted. Thankfully you can feel good about being a Third Street Saint again with the new free Ho Ho Ho Pack.
Out today on Xbox 360 Marketplace, the Saints Row Ho Ho Ho Pack enables Gold Tier members to download, for free, a Santa Clause ensemble comprising a Santa coat, hat, boots and genuine Santa hair. So, as you hump and then kill prostitutes, run over innocent citizens, steal their cars and kill their grandmothers, and blast your crazy rap music into the air, you can do it with a Santa outfit on. Happy holidays, kids! Santa Claus is coming to town, and he's gonna kill you!
Just kidding. You can do whatever you want as Santa, and it doesn't necessitate any kind of criminal activities. The bigger, more philosophical question is this: Is impersonating Santa Claus a crime in itself? One must contemplate this while playing Protect tha Pimp, Blinged Out Ride, Gangsta Brawl, or Big-Ass Chains. One must.
The Saints Row Ho Ho Ho Pack will be available for Silver tier members after December 25, 2006, according to majornelson.com.

One question, on the downloaded versions is the original music intact?

If it is anything like the itunes downloads then no, they do not have the original music.

Microsoft announced today that Novadrome is the Xbox Live Arcade game being released this Wednesday. Novadrome is an original 3-D smash-’em-up game from Stainless Software, the creators of the renowned vehicle-combat franchise “Carmageddon.”

It is interesting, it is a documentary with some gameplay footage, some animation work, and a good deal of talking about the Brutes.

My VGT Novadrome review, but here's the short version:
+ Lengthy career mode with varied types of races
+ A multitude of customizable options in Multiplayer.
+ Tons of cars, weapons, tracks.
- Poor physics engine, very floaty.
- No manual control for directional weapon fire
- Prevalent latency issues in multiplayer matches.
- Lacks the entertaining personality of Twisted Metal or Carmegeddon.
Definitely demo it before laying out the 800 points.

I played Novastorm and it was something that didn't immediately grab me as fun (compared to Assault Heroes and RoboBlitz). The controls were a bit wonky and it was stupid that to fire, you need to press an aim button and then a fire button.
The controls, at least on the car I tried, were near worthless. It was like driving a tank.
The game seems fun but I would definitely demo it.

I really want to buy assault heros. I probably would never find anyone to play with, and it would be hard to find time for that specifically, but its so easy and addictive. Reminds me of Jackal for the NES

Sega revealed new details for the PS3 port of the arcade fighting game Virtua Fighter 5:
* The PS3 version is based on "version B" of the arcade game
* The game does not have online functions
* The video processor in the Lindbergh Arcade hardware is the same as the PS3, so there were no problems in porting the same graphics over to PS3
* However, the arcade system uses Pentium 4 processor, so they could not use the same technology in PS3's cell processor; and besides that, PS3 has less memory than the arcade system.
* Thanks to the PS3 hard drive, develops can use it as data buffers
* Developers can pack everything that they wanted in the BluRay disc and there were no restrictions
* The reason the game is ported over to PS3 because its video processor is more compatible with the Lindbergh than the Xbox 360
* The team does not plan to concentrate only on PS3, they also consider to make some software for Xbox 360

Now, that might mean the team will make a game for the 360, or they might port it to the 360, but we'll see.

I just wish Xbox Live Arcade would step up, Seems Nintendo Wii is getting alot of good games quickly, titles like Sonic, Gunstar Heroes etc. Arcade titles have been coming out very slowly. Need more arcade classics. Should be a few every week not just one.

Now that both the PS3 and Wii (as well as the PSP and even the DS with adaptor) can browse the internet, is there a reason that the 360 can't? Wouldn't it be a relitively simple firmware upgrade to allow this, like it was with the PSP, or is there some inherent reason that it can't be done?
