People from CAG are reporting that they have been told they didn't get any in from regular employees, and then told they have some in stock from management.

this sucks if true. I tried with 4 different people to see if they would hold one for me for not even an hour and they flat out refused.

Anyone know when more might be available online? I'm just too busy right now to drive all over the place looking.

honestly dude...

compile a list of every game store in a 50 square mile radius, and just get into the habbit of calling.

You wouldn't be maximizing your efficiency to personaly drive out to all those locations, unless you felt you could get some inside information

I went to best buy today, around ten, and there was a guy walking around with a 60 gb ps3 in his hands, I asked the guy that worked there and said that was the last one.

I really wish they'd at least announce when they're getting them. I keep calling and they say no and we don't know when well be getting any, then the next day they just sold out.

Fuckers.

They might not know when they're getting them. Besides, if they did, would you go early and fight for positioning with everyone else that asked and got the same answer?

This happened when I got my PS2 as well... they didn't know (or wouldn't say) when they were getting them in stock, so I kept my ear to the ground for rumors (being on the West Coast, we have the benefit of seeing if the East Cost stores get some) and regularly visiting Best Buy and such at opening (luckily it was right down the street from work).

Ok people!

I just got the info from Best Buy. The guy clearly and plainly said that they will have more Wii's on Sunday! I'm going to have to lineup, sucks I have an afternoon flight on that day, but I'm not missing out on getting a Wii this time!

Yes, this was posted a couple of days ago. It's in the Best Buy ad. Minimum 12 per store.

I got a PS3 from Best Buy today. I am going to try and sell it. All I really want is to make enough to pay for a free Wii and a few games

Go to CAG around 7:30 am each morning. I have noticed that 7:45-8:00 AM is the time when alot of stores put their PS3's and Wii's online. People will post which site has them, and then it's a race to see who gets it first.

No problem. So far I have seen Costco, Sam's, and KB list them (Friday around 8), then Circuit City later in the day. Wal-Mart had them on Sunday.

I am talking PS3 of course.

I got lucky. Got a call from the manager at an EB Games in Miami that absolutely nobody knows about (it recently opened in a not great neighbourhood) and was able to score the one PS3 they got in today. It was 20GB, but it will do for now. It's a holiday gift (I'm a Wii guy), so I still have a month to try to find a 60GB.

I stopped at my local BB, and inquired about PS3's. He said they got 8 in this morning, and sold them within 10 minutes.
He said they did not expect them. And, they have no information when they are coming, they will just be random deliveries.
He does not expect regular deliveries until mid-Jan.

So the consensus is this (For Wii's):

-Gamestop will have them this Friday (can someone who works there confirm this?), I'm so sick of getting the run around
-Best Buy will have them on Sunday (minimum 12)

Anyone know about Target or CC?

edit: whoops, I'm talking about Wii

So, I went to my local Best Buy (Lacey, WA) on my way home from work to pick up NFS:MW for $15 for my 360 and a Wii points card. And, on a whim, asked the first clerk that offered me help if there were any PS3s... he replied something like "would you buy one?" ... uhh... "yep!" He said that they were only supposed to tell people that asked in person about them.

So, after confirming that it was a 60GB, I got the PS3, a set of component cables, an extra controller, and Resistance: Fall of Man. Fun stuff. At the register, tons of employees and customers were coming up surprised that they had any.

I didn't ask about Wii systems. I got mine on launch day. I did ask why they were selling the $19.99 2000 point cards for $22.99. His response: "that's MSRP." What a crock. Got one anyway... $17.99 with the coupon isn't bad, i guess.

That's definitely not SOP. Was a decision by a stupid supervisor more than likely.

It's because you get a pissed off run-around when you say you have something like that on the phone. You have them in the store, you can't hold the item, the person comes to the store knowing you had them but now they're sold out. Then you have an irate customer who drove 15 minutes to come get it, but will exaggerate their story to sound even more pissed and try to wrangle a raincheck out of you, even if you can't do one. Have you ever worked in retail before?

man, Walmart.com as of right now has come through for me in a big way(knocks on wood). I have tracking #s for both my Wii(looks like it may be delivered tomorrow instead of the Mon. estimate) as well as tracking for my PS3. I now don't have to go on any hunt what so ever.

All you have to do is tell the person that, yes, you have the item in store, but that you can't hold it for them, and that you can't offer any guarantees because it might sell out before they get to the store. It would take less than 5 seconds.
