I have had this exact thing happen to me a couple times and a restart does indeed fix it. I also hope it isn't foreshadowing the rapid death of my system.

No I think your 360 just gets slightly confused from time to time. I've had mine since last December and every now and then I'll get a DDE starting about two days after I got my system. Restarting always makes it better and it is really sparse to begin with. I've had one dirty disk error in GOW so far and it happened last night, I assume it won't be the last time either.

man.... i just started playing yesterday. This is one of the most intense action games that I have ever played on a console. Nearly every moment gives me that "oops I crapped my pants" feeling I got when the Flood came out in Halo.

My only real complaint is that the friendly AI is downright dumb at times. In the second Act I watched as Dom kept getting ripped apart by the Kryll. Every time he came back he wouldn't move and would get torn to shreds again. At other points I've called for a regroup and they've confirmed but I've seen my teammates just standing in the middle of the street and not moving. For a squad shooter it does get kind of annoying to go into a fight by yourself. I really have to try co-op some time.

I do have one question though. Is there a way to view your stats? Like how many kills you have, headshots, games played, chainsaw kills, etc. It's kind of annoying not knowing where you stand in terms of online achievements.

So I still wasn't able to kill RAAM by myself, but I did kill him on co-op. I just can't kill him by myself, although I seem to be coming closer and closer to doing it. I swear it must be over 100 times that I've tried with no success. I've tried many different techniques, weapons, areas, etc with no luck. I am going to keep chipping away at it until I kill the bastard though

Thank you for the link. Anyone that's even remotely interested in the story behind Gears of War should read this as it provides a lot of back drop information.

I actually killed him on my second try and that was a big dissapointment with the game, the end boss was WAY too easy-

my other biggest complaint with the game is the Friendly AI (namely you Dom), is absolutely terrible in this game. It will just do really stupid things, like run out into the open when there are OBVIOUSLY serious threats firing in our direction, or he'll just stand in a corner in the middle of a intense firefight and do nothing at all -

the graphics on the game are way way ahead of the gameplay and AI, the single player campaign , although short but sweet, was about the best thing since FEAR or HL2

See Megadeth play the new Xbox game "Gears Of War" discuss it, and play the song live! Megadeth took part in launching the game with a mini concert this past Halloween at Six Flags. View the clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy4YfNBZ1Cw

I noticed an error in the script during Act 1...
Spoiler:
When you first come across the bodies laying on the street and you think it's Alpha team (but it's not), Dom says something to the extent, "I hope it's not Rojas. That boy just turned 2 last week." Did I not hear him correctly? Perhaps he didn't say "two" because the guy in question (Rojas) obviously is not 2 years old.

This is my biggest complaint with the single player campaign. The AI is just horrible - I can't count how many times Dom just stood still as a Berserker tore him apart. I try to revive him and I get torn apart. The squad controls aren't great either - the feature seems almost tacked on.

Those gripes aside, this is truly an amazing game. I love Halo and Halo 2, but I think I'll probably play GOW a lot more than either of those. I just love the whole "cover" aspect of the game, it really adds a whole new dimension to a shooter. It would not surprise me in the least if this feature became the norm for shooters now.

I HATE Bersekers!!! They scare me.

I agree PalmerJoss. The whole cover thing makes having shootouts with the Locusts insane. Especially when you choose crappy cover and they start shooting it away or they come running after you. It's true that this game isn't perfect, but it's a lot of fun and it makes you work for it.

I had to chime in on this thought about the "graphics" end of this game since it's probaqbly established itself as the measuring stick of 360 games. Igot this as my first 360 game and haven't regretted it one bit. After my first encounter with the "Berserker" I was thinking I remember seeing that thing once before. Sure enough about a year ago Epic had anounced the "Unreal Engine" being used for several 360 games in development and several shots of GoW were being shown of it's ability. For those interested in the "Unreal Engine see here:

Oh and for those "Unreal Tournament - Liandri Core" fans - Wake up Martin!! - GoW may provide a peep into what Unreal Tournament for the 360 will look like.

Yeah, Unreal Tournament 2007 for me...for damn sure! I thought this was being developed for PC only, but we'll see.

No, you are not alone. I'm hoping to beat the single player on Hardcore with someone to help me out and will probably put my collectors edition up for sale/trade before too long. Not a big fan of the multiplayer.

It is a short game. I think everyone agrees on that.
I myself have gone through playing the Campaign on Insane several times with a buddy. I could tell you where all the ammo boxes are.

Ill help you on multiplayer.

I wouldnt say the game 'bores' me but I cant play hours and hours of it. A free for all deathmatch and new maps would make it more interesting I think. Something to mix up the multiplayer more?

This game would really benefit from some downloadable add ons like new co-op levels, etc..

I am almost finished with the single player campaign on hardcore. I'd like to go through it again on insane with someone too. I think the co-op is the best I've seen in any game. The multiplayer is fun but, I don't think it has the staying power that Halo 2 or COD 2 has. The options are just too limited. How hard would it have been to add a simple deathmatch mode? I don't mind paying for extra maps but, the game types should have been built in. The chainsaw kills are fun but, it doesn't have the same satisfaction as a beat down, IMO. I'll probably get flammed for this but, I also think they should have left out the sniper gun in this game. It's the close combat kills that make this game fun.

UT2007 is coming to PS3 for sure. I haven't heard anything about a 360 version.

Well then i wish my bloody box would just give up the ghost so i can get it replaced. I think it may have left a minor scuff on a rented game the other week (and i keep my system horizontal and it is never touched while in use).
