I have to go with New Super Mario Bros. as my DS GotY since that was one of my main reason why I bought a DS Lite, a purchase that I haven't regretted one bit.

Great list. Makes me realize how much money I've spent as I have all of these and then some...

So, I picked up Deep Labyrinth for $10 and now I'm wondering why I waited for it to be on clearance! Okay, so I've got an extra $20, that's pretty cool.. but the game is totally enjoyable. Yes, the graphics are kid of crappy and the movement is choppy, but it's been a very fun old-school style 3D dungeon crawler. The story on the first scenario is actually refreshingly different, which is a nice plus.

I found FFIII at walmart wooter.
and is it just me..or are DS's hard to find? We called around to all the local target/walmart/bestbuy/circuitcity/sears/gamestop etc etc..and no one had them.
I on a whim, decided to check KMART's eletronic section (which is whimpy), and they had one little p ink ds lite that we ended up getting, yeah the color sucks, but apparently this thing is sold out EVERYwhere.

Lucky for me, that was 6 months ago when you could find the white ones everywhere

Cool article about the most under appreciated games of last year.
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/archive...es-of-2006.php
I had no idea that the Monopoly/Battleship/Yahtzee/Boggle game pak was the rarest DS game (I have that one and its okay for what it is) and also had no idea that Break Em All is also very hard to find.
Anyway commenting on the top 5 I have to disagree about Lost Magic. Being an insanely hard Japanese game doesn't make it a great game. Magnetica was good, but overpriced and the best version of Scurge is the GBA version not the DS version.
They did have some good games in the rest of the list. Dragon Quest: Rocket Slime was easily one of the top 3 DS games last year and its very sad it sold poorly. I also really enjoyed Mega Man ZX. The rest of the list is pretty average. Contact has more style than actual gameplay and Age of Empires had horrific bugs that could crash you in the middle of a game or even brick the cart.

I'm in love with Nintendo's Customer Service. My DS Lite broke (the right side broke off, hinge was loose, system worked but it was somewhat unusable (unstable/flimsy)). Called them, they sent me a label to ship it in -- sent it in on a Friday and had a new DS within a week.

Wasn't there someone here who was hopelessly addicted to Maple Story? Well it looks like it's coming to the DS (in korea at least). Here's a trailer (which only shows about 1 second of game footage. the rest is korean schoolgirls hopping around.)

Warlords DS! With rumored 8-player "WiFi" support. I hope that is Nintendo's WFC and not just local wireless.
Also, some other games called Disciples II and Jagged Alliance 2.

Darn you DS!!
I got a DS-Lite for Xmas and have become really hooked. I rec'd a copy of Meteos at Xmas and am still becoming fond of the little game. After reading posts here and elsewhere, I went and picked up Brain Age, Wario Ware Touched, and Advance Wars
S. I also scored a fresh/new copy of Konami Arcade Advance(Gyruss, Frogger, Time Pilot, Yie-Ar Kung Fu, Scramble, and Rush'n Attack) tonight for $4.
Geez these games are addicting...particularly the ones you can just pick up and play, like Wario and BA.
Does anybody know how many minigames you have to complete on the "monster megamix (purple bear)" in Wario touched????
Advance Wars is really, really well done.
I was looking through back posts in this thread and searched for others, but didn't see any detailed comments about FFIII. Most everyone says that it is good...anybody care to share some detailed thoughts/opinions on FFIII? Thx.

If you want some more "pick up and play" games, I highly recommend Clubhouse Games, New Super Mario Bros. and Big Brain Academy.

Couple of DS adventure game reviews from the Feb. EGM.
Phoenix Wright 2: 6.0, 8.0, 7.0 (main complaints are that it's shorter than the first and didn't get a new DS case like the original and is a straight GBA port in terms of cases).
Hotel Dusk: Room 215: 8.0, 8.0, 10.0.
Looks like Hotel Dusk is the safer bet for adventure game fans that can't get both right away.

I'm just glad that Cing bounced back with Hotel Dusk. Trace Memory was good, but was so short that it just killed any reason to buy it. With them doing a better job on Hotel Dusk and with the Phoenix Wright games it looks like the old school PC Adventure genre has plenty of life on the DS.
