I've been in beta (thanks to blizzcon 07 card) for the last few weeks. Got my shaman up to 76 (halfway to 77). northrend is a blast. the place is huge. I've ran the Nexus, Utgarde Keep, draken keep and the bug instances. all are really cool.

I've been thinking about getting world of warcraft. I plan to get a new computer and was wondering what are the requirements to play it on? Will 2 gb ram be sufficient enough?

Also do i need to install a video card of some kind? I'm kind of a noob at all this. thanks guys.

2gb is enough for WOW. WOW also doesn't require an insane graphics card since the requirements are low. I would still get an 8800gt or similiar if you want to get good frame rates in the major cities. The better graphics card you can get, the more options you can turn up such as viewing distance. What kind of cpu do you have? I wouldn't waste money on an expensive graphics card if your processor is ancient.

Lets just say that I'm running it at almost max settings on 2180X1024 resolution i think with an athlonxp 2000+ 1 gig of ram and a geforce 5800 which is ancient... so you will be fine

Its a windows xp 500mb ram 150 gb hdd. No graphics card was installed on it. The machine is 2 years old

You'll definitely want more ram and you have a big enough hard drive, but you still didn't tell me what cpu. If you click on the the start menu then right click on my computer and click on properties it should tell you what cpu you have.

i've mainly been playing on live this last week working on honor to buy the season 2 arena gear for my shaman. starting the northrend grind (when the expansion is released) in nice pvp gear will mean you wont have to worry about upgrade for a while (at least 6 levels in most cases).

True, but then that makes it more of a grind for me. If I get new stuff I can use I enjoy doing the quests a lot more. Luckily, most of my characters have sucky gear so no issue there.

the gear gap isnt going to be nearly as large as it was with the last expansion. my 76 shaman is still wearing Tier 4 pants and shoulders (the resto specced ones). I have probably upgraded all my old blues but not my old epics. there are some really sweet trinkets. also, it seems like half the gear has haste on it now so you get stuck keeping a lot of stuff just for a "haste set" so you can see how fast you can be.

The fact that stuff isn't a bit better isn't a plus for me. Replacing gear makes the grinding more bearable. I'm sure people that are grinding away in instances will be happy not to quickly replace the gear, but I don't much enjoy instances (once or twice is plenty) so for me the first expansion was great.

Since I don't do instances much, you'd think most of the stuff I get in Lich King would be better, but so far most of the stuff I've gotten in Lich King really isn't any better than the greens I have (ironically, the only thing that's a clear improvement is the weapons, and that's the one place I had an epic on my rogue).

I've only gotten one upgrade from an instance after about 9 runs through various ones. the good quest rewards start in the mid 70s when you start getting the (group) quests.
as a rogue you might find some upgrade from quest rewards earlier on. especially if you have a preferred stat (like a rogue who really like agility or AP). but then you still have to decide whats better, the pants with haste, the ones with AP or the ones with ignore armor.

So i decided to buy this game today. I install it, reqister and all that good stuff. Then i go to load the game to start playing and it wont connect me! I keep getting this error message:

One of the main reasons why WOW is so popular is because it can run on pretty much anything.

Error 132 is a fairly generic error, so it could be a lot of things. I'd start here:
