I forgot to mention I did have success with trading in the GC. First they upped the value to $30 from $25, then you get $20 on top, so $50 total. Not bad at all. They wouldn't let me combine to get the extra % off Gears though. But no complaints, $50 is solid for a used system.

So if you are getting a Wii, personally I think this deal is hard to beat. No reason to keep the cube unless you are putting it in a second room since it is backwards compatible.

Annoying, since I traded mine in for $25 last week.

But I still ended up with enough credit from trades to GS and sales in the forum here over the past month to pay off the Wii and Zelda in full...so I shouldn't complain to much I guess.

That is a good deal. I traded my Gamecube a little while ago with the 30% extra coupon. The only thing that made me not want to trade it in was that I had the Gameboy player. The player goes for good money on Ebay though, so i'll just sell it there and hopefully they will come out with something similar for the Wii.

Damn. It is very tempting to sell my Cube and component cables. Definitely have to give it some thought. However, my Cube was made in Japan and I still use the GBA player on it. May not be able to part with it.

Yep do away with the cables as well.

Me:
Cube - $50
Component - $60
=====
$110

Definitely turned out pretty well. Sad and funny to see the cables go for more than the system.

Do they expect you to include a controller when you trade-in the console considering each system comes with atleast one?

What did the gameboy player cost when it was released? I have it and barely use it. What's the benefit to keeping it over the DS lite? Are there certain games it will play that the DS won't?

It plays GB and GBC games, doesn't it? See, this is why I was hoping that front flap on the Wii housed a super-secret GBP slot.

Damn, I just remembered that I imported my GBA Player from Japan. I bet the hardware isn't region specific, but the disc sure is. I guess I'm going to be stuck with a GBA player.

Wow, EB gives $60 for the component cables?

Yes, this is why I want to keep it and my Cube. You can even play the Game Boy games in 480p. I thought about it and I'm keeping my Cube and component cables. I have sold stuff in the past like my Halo Xbox and Japanese limited edition Saturn only to regret it later. I'm holding on to my Cube and component cables.

I'm wondering about this too. I'd like to keep my cube controller to use for the Wii.

When I traded in my DS the week the Lite came out they wouldn't take it without the charging adapter.

Doh, okay. I already have a bunch of stuff I need to list on Ebay, so I guess I'll add the component cables to the pile.

Have a I missed a game that incorporates 4 player split?

I'm keeping my Gamecube/component cables exclusively for the GBA player. Also, I figure if I'm playing the Wii and one of my roommates wants to play a GC game, they can play it on the second TV.

Where do you get a 30% off coupon?

I considered it briefly, but I've not used my GB Player since getting a DS at launch, so decided to part with it.

I haven't played GB/GBC games in years and doubt I ever will. The vast majority of those games don't hold up today IMO.

There are some new Madden videos up at IGN. They really show off how the controls work.

http://media.wii.ign.com/media/825/825443/vids_1.html

I think this will be a launch game for me now. If the controls are as good as they look Nintendo may become my sports console. I really hope all the 2008 sports game have online multiplayer. I will give up the better graphics everytime for the Wii controls, but if there is no online multiplayer it will be a tough decision. If sports games are done well for the Wii and have online multiplayer I think they will be the number one selling version of the game.
