It is like a gamertag. On the DS you have a friend code for EVERY game you have to keep track of. On the Wii, the code is associated with the system instead of the games. Only one code to keep track of.

And if you take your remote to a friends house along with your Mii, you won't need to code swap (similar to the DS to DS link up).

no console since the SNES has ever launched with 2 controllers, so I doubt it, that guy must have been confused with some sort of bundle

My guess, although not major, they'll announce the Wii will play DVDs.

The fact that no console since SNES has released with two controllers, to me, would make the fact that it comes with two controllers even more of a novelty and something different.
Much more so than if it played DVDs. I don't know if I'd call that a 'big' secret. It might be, in that it was kept well, but in terms of impact, I don't see that as being anything to get excited about.
Single-unit-ID is interesting, although I don't know enough about the multi-unit playing to know how it would affect it.

According to my Nintendo rep, the controller allocations are almost as tight as the system allocations. However, I'm surprised they made so few. Perhaps including a second controller with each system could be the reason why?

i gotta say, two Wiimotes and Nunchuks would be my ideal "surprise". Just because i'm obviously going to be picking one up anyway.

However, i also wouldnt mind some free VC points...

Of course it comes with 2 controllers. A wiimote and a nunchuk. There's your 2 controllers.

Time for some disappointment: Dragon Quest Swords screenshots!

Why, oh WHY are they going with this bland looking graphic style after the sheer beauty of Dragon Quest VIII?!

When I asked if I could buy it with just one controller he replied it will only come with two controllers.
Technically, it does come with 2 controllers - the wiimote and the nunchuk. They just combine to form one mega controller that only one person can use.

Now I know you are going to love this info. Nintendo will be showing off a brand new trailer for Super Smash Bros. Brawl during their “Nintendo World 2006″ tour. The first tourdate is on November 3rd, so hopefully the trailer will be shown that day. There will also be an unveiling of a new character, which will most likely pop up in the trailer. Man, Friday cannot come soon enough!
Taking bets on new character. I'm going to make 2 guesses:
1st party - Your Mii
3rd party - Sonic

Pretty much, I hate Sonic.. but it seems inevitable at this point.

They could slap a sticker on the box and say "for a limited time" like MS did with the bonus remote in the launch 360s...

Does anyone know a site to preorder the Wii? I want one by Christmas but most sites I found non-longer doing preorder. Amazon.com isn't doing it yet.
I am guess this item like base systems will be hard to find at the store. As for ebay its already going for ovee $500. So anyone know a good site to keep an eye on?

Amazon might be doing something soon.. but all reports are saying that there should be a healthy supply of systems rolling out through the end of the year. If you want one BY CHRISTMAS you'll probably be able to get one in store somewhere within the few weeks after launch. If you want one on launch day you might want to hit a chain store like Wal*Mart or Targét a couple of hours early (bring a book or a DS!)..

Awesome! Thanks for the help guys. I dig the new old controller but it looks hard to hold without the prong things coming out.

I had NO idea Zelda was coming out for both systems. WIll there be any differences between the 2?

Zelda for the cube is coming out in December. The Wii version will be a launch title. It's the same game, different controls, and I believe the GC version isn't progressive scan.
This sums it up.

I haven't been following it closely, but it's not supposed to be much.. the Wii version will be 16x9 and 480p if you've got an HDTV (or just an EDTV) and of course uses the new controller. I think that's the extent of it. From my experience (I got to play it two weeks ago) the new controller is really awesome when fighting monsters with your sword (you swing it) and it seems like it's going to be a lot easier for aiming (with the bow, for example). It didn't seem quite "revolutionary" as the game kind of had the new controller options ADDED to it.. but if you're getting a Wii it's probably the version to get.

Buy.com has Wii Points listed as $24.95 for 2000 points, so it might not quite be the $1 == 100 that we were anticipating (assuming other stores price the points the same).

They also have the classic controller for $17.21 (obviously not MSRP) and the Wii controller for $37.99 (maybe MSRP?), which I believe is a little less than we expected.

I think the MSRP on the Wii controller was $39.99, so $2 is $2. If the nunchuck is $17.99 as well, then $60 becomes $56. Every little bit helps.
