Even though I've got a pre-order at Amazon, I'll probably wait at a B&M store anyway, since I want one as soon as they're available. I'm leaning towards a 24-hour Walmart (despite my dislike of Walmart) so that I can wait inside instead of out in the cold. It's what I did at the Gamecube launch and it went really smoothly back then - I arrived a couple of hours before midnight and walked out by 12:30 AM with the console and games in hand. Hopefully it'll be similar this time around and they'll start selling them at midnight. I also have to decide whether to cancel my pre-order, or hold onto it as backup and sell it at cost if I don't end up needing it. Once we get more solid numbers per store or chain, I can make that decision.
Only 53 days (and change) to go!

Here's a post from CAG about a possible start date for EB preorders (take it with a grain of salt though).

i'm thinking with all these hints and everything that it will most likely be around the 1st week in October. I just need me a good bundle package and i'll be happy

Nope. All we really know is that the bit Gamestop/EB conference started on Wednesday and ends this weekend and that they will find out how many units they are getting during this conference, and should then announce preorder details shortly there after.

Some potential bad news for GS/EB preorders, though just a rumor from one manager posted on CAG.

Rumor #1: EBgames will start taking preorders on October 9. Susposively that will be the date they enter in SKU in their systems.
Rumor #2: Every store will take 40 to 60 preorders.
Rumor #3: Preordering will no longer guarrentee you a system on launch day.
Rumor #4: It won't matter what "number" your preorder is. First come, first serve.

If that is true I won't preorder either, and will just hit Target at 8 am and use my store credit for games latter.
However, I don't buy it. As the trade in only preorder that already happened in Hawaii only said that you weren't guaranteed one on launch day (to cover their asses) but the preorder did reserve your spot in line (i.e. if you were #10 you get one of the first 10).
I can't imagine they'd change it for the main preorder campaign.

Is anyone smelling bundle? The MSRP is flat out misleading since there's no way they're giving $463.99 worth of merchandise for $334.99 in a bundle. There'd be no discount at all, just the forced package.

As much as I want one, I won't be forced into buying a bundle. I will do what I did when the 360 came out last year. Check from store to store and grab one when I can.
I did this and got a 360 right before Christmas.

I have no intrest in a bundle either. I only want the system and Zelda. I'm just going to check a few stores around me on launch and see if they have any left over. I'm not going to wait in line though.

There's a thread on the 1up boards where a poster who says he's a manager of an EB said that Wii and PS3 preorders will open on Oct 10th.
But not all stores will do them--it will be up to the managers to decide whether to take preorders or just do first come first serves.
I'm pretty skeptical of that, I can't see a huge chain store handling a launch with no set company side campaign.
