Not only that, but if you read ProfessorLesser's very own replies (there is a lot of more information in the replies other than the initial thoughts in that first post), he starts to ease up on all of the bad stuff that he said, to the point where it starts to sound positive. Give the entire thing a read, and if not the entire thing then at least all of his replies.

After working 2 years previously in walmart electronics, I can understand why they're not getting Wii Kiosks, if its timing. It took my store -which was a super- a year to get the proper PSP with LCD case. Modulars and plans are done so far in advance, and getting cases, supplies, etc from suppliers and game companies was like pulling teeth.
And you know, some kid will take a wii mote to the head, then its all over

That got me thinking. Everyone says there are NO 4-player launch titles, but surely Monkey Ball is. What gives?
Monkey Target is the fave here as well.

A new company called Compile Heart (yet ANOTHER company formed from the ashes of Compile, yay!) announced that they'll be porting their arcade game, Takoron, to the Wii. The original company Compile are famous for the Puyo Puyo series which is pretty much the foundation of versus style "puzzle" games.
Here's a link to information on the arcade release:

Very long but very interesting about Nintendo's disruption strategy: Article link
It is on a Wii site, so it is obviously going to be slanted, but it is well articulated and references many sources and books. A great read if you have time.

That's an interesting article, but some of the points were stretching a bit just to be pro-Nintendo. Especially this:
This answer basically turns into a semantics debate about 'platform vs service' that doesn't even address the real issue of the point they are countering - the cost. It goes on about how costs should be low because there's no need for alteration but this doesn't address why these items are in fact just the same cost as the Live Arcade games which not only did require alteration, they are often new games built form the ground up. But he covers that issue with:
Here's the problem with that... we as gamers KNOW these games. We are familiar with these games and in most cases have already played these games. So this "we're going to think the product is crap" argument doesn't fly. And while I personally think the VC games should be a buck or two cheaper, I'm not even saying this to question Nintendo but to point out the contradiction in the article. Using the "costs will be low" argument followed by the "purposely jacking up the price" argument does nothing to help the consumer appeal of the VC 'platform'.
And the author could be a politician... he changes his stance on each issue as to when it best suits his argument.
First he seemingly argues that Live Arcade is hindering itself in costs by offering new content, but then uses it as a plus that VC will also be offering new content! And then he quotes about development costs... wouldn't a new title for VC also incur these costs? Even if is a NES-based title, a quality title will cost some money to design/program/test.
Wii Fallacy #5: Virtual Console is like Xbox Live Arcade even in costs!
Short Answer: Virtual Console is a platform. Xbox Live Arcade is a service of Xbox Live.
Long Answer: Apple’s Ipod has many competitors. But the true threat of the Ipod is not that the hardware has a 70% marketshare. The threat of the Ipod is that it is a new platform in itself. The Ipod is more than the hardware. It is the Itunes store. It is all the various accessories for the Ipod. Apple has been quietly building up an entertainment platform with first music, now movies, and soon most television.
One of the differences between a platform and a service is that the content must be altered by the latter. The games on the Virtual Console will not require alteration. The costs for putting old games onto the Virtual Console are so small it is not worth mentioning. The Virtual Console is not a console, it is not a handheld. It is a whole new platform just like the Itunes store.

Let me tell you a story. I had a friend who made a database software product that was sold digitally through the Internet. He put the price of the product as $5. Sales were dismal. He raised the price to $10. Sales became better. So he decided to raise the price even more to $15! And then, finally, to $20 where he achieved maximum sales. People assume lower price means more sales but not always. Cheap prices often infer cheap quality. The game prices are set to sell the maximum number possible.
And the author could be a politician... he changes his stance on each issue as to when it best suits his argument.
The games on the Virtual Console will not require alteration. The costs for putting old games onto the Virtual Console are so small it is not worth mentioning.
and
"Creating an Xbox Live Arcade game is taking most studios 6-12 months. Costs are currently ranging from USD $100,000 to USD $300,000," revealed Tunnell.
but
As a platform, the Virtual Console will be filled with retro titles as well as new ones.

Free Opera for all!
Can you guys guess which part of this cover has me the most excited?
Oslo, Norway - September 26, 2006
Opera Software today announced details on its browser for Nintendo’s soon-to-be released game console, Wii. Opera’s full Web browser is available for download from the "Wii Shop Channel". Nintendo has stated that they will offer Opera free of charge as a temporary promotion for all Wii users until June 2007.
From July 2007, users can purchase the Opera browser using Wii points. Wii points are credits users can buy that allow them to add new games or the Opera browser to their Wii consoles. The number of Wii points required to purchase Opera has not yet been announced.
With support for Flash and AJAX-based content such as Google maps, Wii users will benefit from a feature-rich Internet experience that is uniquely customized for the Wii. Opera for Wii boasts the same complete standards support as the Opera 9 Desktop browser, and includes the added functionality of "Zoom" and "Bookmarks". The Wii remote control will also be an integral part of browsing, allowing users to intuitively control the Web with their Wii remotes.
Nintendo has previously announced that Wii will be available in the U.S. on November 19, 2006, Japan on December 2, 2006, and in Europe on December 8, 2006. The cost for the console is $249.99 or 25,000 Yen.

I could easily end up spending $400, which is four times what I paid for my Cube plus Metroid Prime. That's a healthy chunk of a mortgage payment.
