classic controller is for VC games only and cannot be used for Wii games - true Diff controller for Wii games: the packed-in Wiimote + nunchuck: true I don't get the question. Obviously you can't use the classic controller for Wii games - they need the Wiimote. The motion-sensitive wiimote + nunchuck isn't an option. |
I think he means games with traditional control schemes that won't be motion sensitive, a la Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
I would expect that you can use the VC controller for a game like, but I don't see why you would want to. The layout looks awful and cramped. Personally I'd just buy a Wavebird and use that. |

I agree, though, a GC controller/Wavebird is probably a better option. From gamespot: The classic controller face also has two analog sticks, which are necessary to maintain GameCube compatibility. |

If you have a serious problem with the idea of a motion controller, then this system isn't for you. But it seems a stupid thing to complain about, because the motion-sensing is exactly what this system is all about. It's like saying you'd like Star Wars if it weren't for all those darned spaceships and lightsabers. |

It's going to be up to the developers. i.e. in Zelda you must use the nunchuck and Wiimote. It will be the same in the new Metroid and in Mario Galaxy, but I'm not going to dig up links.
If you don't like the motion based controller, don't buy the Wii. It is the standard controller that is packed with the system, so the bulk of games--and especially first party nintendo games--are going to be designed from the ground up to use it. |

I have to concur with what everyone else has said. The motion sensing is not a gimmick. It is going to be integral to most of the games, including almost all first-party games (the notable exception being SSB Brawl thus far). Any Wii exclusive game will most likely use only the motion sensing, because that's the crux of the system.
The fact that you can't use a more traditional control scheme actually means that the motion sensing will be less of a gimmick, though, which ends up being a good thing. If you want games where the motion sensing is added on as an afterthought, buy a PS3. |
See, I think it's silly and dumb (just my opinion, not threadcrapping) to wave a remote around the TV for hours at a time. I could've sworn that the old-style controllers could be used for these games...I'm glad I know now before buying the system, though. Wish I hadn't sold my Cube...ah well. I'll just buy a used Cube and Twlight Princess.

I would say try an in-store demo before you decide to never buy a Wii. Apparently the controls are a lot more intuitive and fun than you might think.

What's the word on Wii Orchestra? Any advance "reviews" on how it plays? I've seen the videos and all of that, but I haven't actually heard anyone really say what they thought of it. This might sound stupid, but that's one of the games that I'm most looking forward to.
|
Does it even have a firm release date?

There are a number of videos on YouTube of people playing the game, but I don't know who they are or where it's at:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=aYZah8P-U1Q http://youtube.com/watch?v=nYSM2ThdgvU http://youtube.com/watch?v=iWFoM2mL_-E I want that game bad, and I want it right now. |

I never quite understood why some people couldn't see that the DS was going to be quite huge. Just the concept of the touch screen, with Nintendo behind it all, was enough to get me to stand up and take notice. I am the exact same way with the Wii right now. I see that many people don't get how the concept will lead to some really awesome things, but I really believe that we're in for some truly special gameplay features, and we'll all be saying "holy crap" quite a lot.

Personally I thought the DS was a stupid gimmick, especially when the only video I saw of it being used was Warioware. But then Phoenix Wright turned my world upside down. So I can see how just hearing about the Wii or seeing some very short promo videos might not be convincing enough. I think the in-store demos will go a long way towards customer acceptance of the product.
