I sure hope a pre-PS3 (11/17) launch happens. I'd sure like to have one for my daughter's birthday when my family comes to visit. I can just picture my brothers and I Wii-ing together.

I agree. The Wii seems like it will really be a good multi player party system. It's just too bad about Smash Brothers. I really wanted that to play at the Thanksgiving or Christmas party.

I have a strong hunch we'll see an October launch on this. More of a "hope" than a hunch... but whatever.

That's funny, you still can't reserve them in the stores.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Nintendo resurrect their Spaceworld conference after the interest in the Wii.

Tokyo Games Show is also possible.

In this interview, Satoru Iwata, the President of Nintendo suggests that they'll announce the pricing this summer. He also talks a bit of trash about the PS3 pricing.

I'm not sure if I missed this or what: I know Wii will connect to the net - will Nintendo have like a Live-esque service or something for network multiplayer?

Okay guys this is a bit off topic, but seeing this I’m just thinking of the kids who will be getting Wii this coming Christmas.

N64 OMG!

I know that's what MARTIN5 will be doing the day he brings his home! I might too, but I'll have to stop and smoke because being out of shape I need my cigarettes.

According to what IGN is saying, it will be like DS with friends codes... no centralized gaming network.

BUT, it will be free.

He said:

"We're using "affordable" in the sense that the price won't be significantly higher than Nintendo's prices have been historically."

Which I translate as:

"$249"

That's what detects the movement of the Wii remote.

You place it on top of your TV.

I still stand by my prediction of a $200 "core" system + 1 controller, and a more likely $249 Bundle with 2 controllers and Wii Sports.

Haven't all the Nintendo Systems launched at $199 historically?

Considering the cheapest next gen system is currently $299 for the core 360 it's almost a guarantee Wii will not go over that price even at a bundle.

I see the core Wii package (as stated earlier) at $199. I just wonder how much the Wii-motes and other extras like the VC controller will cost.

Right, but Iwata said "it won't be significantly higher"...which means it will be higher...just not significantly.

Would love to see your prediction come to fruition.

I've got a little dream that Nintendo would help fund Michel Ancel to create Beyond Good & Evil 2 for a Wii exclusive.

$219.99 wouldn't be significantly higher

Well, Nintendo has said they'll probably release date and price info before the Tokyo Game Show.

Of course, since that's at the end of September.. we'll probably still be hanging for a while.

Agreed, but I fully expect the price to be some multiple of $50 (roughly).

Historically, yes. However, Nintendo is a disruptor! They're here to break the mold. The DS sells for $130 so it isn't like it would be uncharted waters for them.

The DS was $150 at launch though.

and what a dream it is.

I don't see $250 happening. That is only $50 less than a 360. If MS even considers a tiny price drop, Nintendo is in for some troubled waters right out of the gate.

I can get on board the $219.99 prediction.
