Isn't the beginning of October the release date? Thats about 2 months from now.
But yes, I think (and hope) they'll announce the price soon.

I don't think Microsoft cares what Nintendo does with the Wii. Peter Moore even partially promoted the Wii at E3. I think the reason they're holding off on the price is it makes people actively wonder about the Wii, which keeps Nintendo foremost in people's minds.

So I was listening to my Jet Set Radio Future soundtrack last night and was thinking how bad ass a new game would be on the Wii. Imagine the Wii controller as a can of spray paint. Imagine an online mode where you form gangs and compete by tagging each others turf. Sega should give the series another chance, I mean.. as much as I loved it, the Xbox was just the wrong place for game. If the Wii is going to be the system where games outside the guns and cars shtick can shine I think this would be one that could become a bit of a hit.

I think my fav character was the little goth girl who was dressed in black and grey. That and Gum, the girl in blue who you start out with.
BTW, looking for pictures of the characters i found your post on gamespot Pixy. Pretty funny to see a familiar name on my search.
edit: both soundtracks were awesome as well. I in particular like the "Love You" song from the 2nd game.

Some Trauma Center news:
Atlus U.S.A., Inc., a leading
publisher of interactive entertainment, today issued a prescription of good news
for fans of the company’s best-selling and critically acclaimed Trauma Center
series of medical drama simulations.
First, Trauma Center: Second Opinion was confirmed as a launch title for
Nintendo’s new, highly anticipated console—Wii, which is poised to take the
video game world by storm in the fourth quarter of 2006. This robust “Wii-make”
of Under the Knife features new graphics and animation, new surgical
implements and operation types, a second playable character with all-new
missions, multiple difficulty modes for gamers of all skill levels, and a revised
control system that takes full advantage of the revolutionary Wii Remote and
Nunchuk-style controller.
In addition, thanks to a wave of demand triggered by the launch of the Nintendo
DS Lite, Trauma Center: Under the Knife will receive a second re-release, to
arrive at retail in mid-August. Under the Knife has been hailed by critics as
“arguably the most compelling use of the touch screen yet [Modojo]…One of the
most creative and entertaining experiences the DS has offered [GotNext].”
Trauma Center: Under the Knife is rated T (Teen) by the ESRB for Blood, Mild
Language, Mild Violence, and Partial Nudity. Trauma Center: Second Opinion
has not yet been rated by the ESRB

The PS3 is currently sitting at 15 confirmed games on it's November 17th launch day. Of course, this is expected to increase in the next few months. That said, the current Wii launch list (which you can see below) is far from final, and we wouldn't say it's a stretch to expect to see at least 30 games on launch day. If that doesn't get you excited about the Wii, you have no soul.

Zelda is the only definite for me, and 3 or 4 are strong maybes.
I'll probably not get one at launch and just end up getting Zelda for the GC unless reviews say the Wii version is much better.

3. Those of us who do own a HDTV now won't be able to fully enjoy the Wii. As the generation ages that number will go up dramatically.

I plan to fully enjoy the Wii where my gaming has always been done.
Another thing worth noting is that the Wii will support 16x9 and 480p so one could also argue than SDTV users aren't "fully" enjoying it either.

I pre-ordered a Wii last month, at Toys 'R Us. For $400 Canadian, I'll be getting the Wii, an extra controller, and two games (I don't know what games they are, though.) Does anybody have any idea of what games may come with this bundle, or is it still way too early to tell? If I don't like them, I guess I'll just take them back to Walmart or something.

Best Buy had this on sale for $400 around X-mas, but it's back up to $560.
Looks like the going rate for 30" now is about $500-$600 but there are sales on tvs all the time. You can get great deals on refurbished sets pretty often too if you want bigger name stuff.
Brick and mortar Sony Factory Outlet stores have 40% off all refurbished CRT (tube) TVs 30" or larger. 34" KD34XBR960 HDTV unit for $694 + $99 for a 5 year Sony extended warranty. KD30XS955 was $750 before discount, $450 afterwards. I know refurbs aren't for all, but if you're looking for an inexpensive Sony Wega, this could be the way to go.

My original point was that people don't need to buy a HDTV for the PS3 or 360, the games will still look and play great.

Why do people throw around the core system price as if its a viable competitor? The only people who bought the cores were people who a) had no other choice due to shortages or b) people who had no other choice due to not having enough money. Almost all of them at some point bought a hard drive and wireless controller, if not some kind of headset for Xbox live.
Can a $299 core system play HD games? Yes and no. It has the capability to play games in HD, but not the connections right out of the box. Can you save those games right out of the box? No. Can you go online right out of the box? No. Do you have a wireless controller right out of the box? No. Does the system have cables that can send an HD signal right out of the box? NO!
So, as you can see, for $200-$250, Nintendo is giving us a way to save games, go online, and have a wireless motion-sensitive controller with a speaker in it plus an attachment. That's actually far more than what you're getting in the $299 core if you bought no extra accessories. The trade-off is no HD capabilities.

Let's also not forget that Nintendo isn't in the business to lose money per sale. Microsoft still loses money per console sold. They make up for it in licensing software. I'm happy with a $200-$250 system if that means the software prices are also $40-$50 instead of $50-$60.
I'd love to see HD Link and Samus, for sure, but it not having them isn't going to cause me any pain for the next 3-4 years.
