I haven't received a shipping notice from the cam deal yet but I have some time until my subscription runs out so I'm not worried. The deal is worth the extra week or so wait.

No, not at all. It just seems like I bought them all just yesterday, which is kind of annoying because I wish I would've waited. I knew this was going to happen.

First ever gameplay footage of Bioshock

All I can say is that Bioshock can't come out soon enough. That game looks simply awesome.

That's an understatement.

The guy narrating sounds like Jeremy Piven.

Bioshock looks rediculous! I am now looking forward to that game more than even Mass Effect.

"Guys with flaming skulls and rocket launchers."

I don't know what game(s) he's referring to, but that sounds lame

Seriously, BioShock looks pretty damn interesting.

That looks right up my alley. Slowly the 360 is making its presence known to me.

Plus, I'm not entirely unconvinced that Tenacious D wasn't playing the song during that boss battle

Shit, why do you post that first thing in the AM?! I won't be home for another seven hours!

I've had HIGH hopes for this game and the men behind the project almost insure its greatness.

While Game|Life doesn't provide many specifics, its post does draw some big comparisons, describing Blue Dragon as a fusion of Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger, with "maybe" a dose of Grandia. Game|Life notes that enemies are on-screen (i.e. no random battles) and that the Job Change system (from Final Fantasy V) is featured in Blue Dragon.

in agreement.

This is a good thing. rpg goodness

Now to just finish Enchanted Arms. Halo and Lego Star Wars II have taken all my gaming time recently.

I only popped in Kameo today to update it and ponder the new expansion for it. I haven't bought it yet, but may do so. Especially if other DVDTalkers are up for playing co-op.

YES! Giant crab quotient is high!

Totally agreed on the RPGs coming out. This is a VERY good thing for the 360, shows that devs are interested inthe HW beyond FPS and sports games.

So my wife has gathered an abandoned cat from nearby her office. We have 2 and that's the rule. I've told her before that if she wants a new cat she needs to fire an existing cat. She just will not let it go today. 4 emails, 2 phone calls. Now she's taking me out to lunch and hoping I'll go back with her to her office to see it.

I'm completely against it, but she isn't actively trying to get someone else to take it. She's asking if she can just keep it overnight until she finds someone. But my momma didn't raise no fool. I know that as soon as my girls see a new kitty in the house, it might as well be family.

So, now I'm thinking I might be able to leverage this to my advantage and get myself a raincheck for a 360, no questions asked.

What do you all think? Is getting a 360 when there isn't a single, non-XBLA game I need to have (yet) worth taking this thing on? Our cats are 50/50 inside/outside (no litter box) so there's a decent chance the thing will take off on its own anyway and I'd still get the credit.

They are easy enough to find now. Why not just wait until there is a game or two released that you definetly want. If you buy it now and there isn't anything you'd play, it would just sit there and might be seen as a way for your wife to comment about how the system is just sitting there.

Oh. I missed a point you made. Sure, if you think there are games coming out you want, definetly go for the raincheck method so you can purchase it later when you need.

Yeah, I've always thought next year at the earliest. By then I'm hoping for a price drop or bundle and maybe Blue Dragon, if they localize it.

anyone else read the story about Sony, selling gran turismo HD in two very stripped models and making the players go online to buy the cars and tracks, and then thank god you chose to buy a 360 early on and enjoy a great system with great games? I know folks complain about the microtransactions like the horse pack for oblivion, but those are not needed to enjoy the game. Those types of things are just there for folks with extra money to spend and have some fun. I swear, I have never had so much fun on a system as I have on the 360. I even think M$ did the right thing with the free Texas Hold'em, I mean they lost the sponsor and still gave it away to everyone who wanted it for 2 days. How is it that M$ seems to be doing everything right and Sony doing so much wrong this Gen?

I always believed that old saying that the day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. Now with as much fun as I had with the original xbox, now the 360 and it looks like the 360 is just getting better and better, I think hell has frozen over everyone. It's not like I hate Sony, ok well perhaps I hate the company but not the playstation. I just can't believe how many wrong moves have been made by them for this console. I mean they couldn't even make their own font for the system and fans are wondering why it's the same as Spiderman.

I do think I have to switch to renting games though, the price of these next gen games is crazy with the amount of them that are out or coming out soon. There is so much gaming and so little time.

I think that Gran Turismo thing is still a highly speculative rumor...so let's not get into that.

Joystiq posted an article about Sony responding to the Xbox 360 getting 1080p and the picture they posted for me has had me laughing for hours.

I get that it is still technically just a rumor, but when I read that it is just a port of GT4 with 1080P support and that they were doing the microtransaction to just get a car or track, I couldn't believe it. I mean if it were not going to be true Sony should have issued an immediate response. How many people are going to read that and say screw Sony and the PS3 I'm getting a Wii or 360? Whether it is true or not.

Funny thing about rumors is how quickly they become "perceived reality." Last night I was talking to a neighbor and he had seen one of the kids playing the Saints Row demo on my 360. We started chatting about games cause he is a big xbox fan but never played the 360 so far. So I told him he has to come over sometime and let me kick his arse in FNR3 so he told me about how even though he loves his PS2 he can't get the PS3 because it's too expensive and because MS is releasing Halo 3 the same day as the PS3. Now those of us who visit DVDtalk everyday know that Halo 3 will not be released in November, but because of that rumor before, wasn't it a quote by Bill Gates????, how many people out there are like my neighbor and holding off on a PS3 because they are expecting to get Halo 3 that day?

It just seems like Sony has done nothing to help their cause here. I mean, we all know the PS2 is not a flaming pile of cow dung, and the PS3 is going to be a great system in it's own right and in due time. The problem I see is that most everyone, even the Sony fanboys, have heard nothing but negative stuff about the PS3 and when you combine that with the pricetag, it makes it a hard sell. Personally, I love having the three consoles out at the same time like this. It helped with pricing on the last gen and this next gen should see some better pricing as soon as MS is competing with Sony and Nintendo for each dollar. I love the fact that games are less exclusive now and I can't wait to try some games out like Guitar Hero that I had to miss in the last gen because I couldn't stand to play my PS2 anymore. I know I am a graphics whore, not that there is anything wrong with that, because as soon as I got my original Xbox I couldn't even play the exceptional games like GTA3 and Socom on my PS2. So now that some of these games are making their way over to the dark side, I finally get to take part in some fun stuff.

Speaking of fun stuff, my wife (yes we got back together), likes fun little games and really wanted an eyetoy on the PS2 but we never managed to get one. With the Xbox camera out now, I am going to have to pick one up as soon as some games like that totemball come out. I really wish they had created a bunch of mini-games like Sony did for the eye-toy, but oh well.

That's great, that is so funny. It also just adds a punch, sorry couldn't resist the pun, to how I have said Sony keeps screwing up the next gen. They banked on being the only ones to have 1080P, which isn't even a consideration for me since my HDTV only does 480i, 480p and 1080i, and then MS comes out with a free software upgrade to give the 360 1080p. Now it may not have been at this site, but I remember when the 360 specs were confirmed there were so many people saying there was no way the current version of the 360 could ever do 1080P. How foolish that was eh? Anyway, I can't wait to see my DVDs upscaled to 1080i since my TV is a cheap old HDTV.

Am I correct in assuming that the DVDs played in the current DVD drive on the 360 will upscale to 720p, 1080i and 1080p? I am pretty sure it was supposed to be independent of the HD-dvd drive.

Awesome! My 360 is from 12/2005, so this makes me feel a lot better now.
