It's nothing more than a pissing match. Sony touts their 1080p system is the only game in town... MS responds by adding 1080p support for their consumer base. Cut to Sony...alright, forget 1080p... our discs hold 50GB of data! Nevermind that 99.9% of games can fit on a standard 9GB DVD... how about the fact that Sony can't even manufacture a 50GB disc? It is all funny and yes that pic sums it up pretty well.

How do you find the manufacture date of your 360?

It's listed on the back of the 360.

So it looks like I'll be getting my money back that I paid to get my 360 fixed. Awesome!

So when I got the refurb, it was a November manufacture date. I bought the warranty, but it was already going to be covered until mid October. This meant that the warranty that I purchased didn't start until October. Does this new development extend my refurb coverage until December 31st, which is when my purchased warranty would take over?

Just curious.

So does this mean any 360 made before 2006 is going to die eventually due to these problems.

I don't think so. I've had mine since launch and have not had any problems other than dirty disc errors occasionally.

my launch date console has held up surprisingly well. It has crashed twice I think when loading a game but never any red lights or stuttering.

Black 360 on the way? This ad popped up on this page: http://www.gamespot.com/events/tgs2006/live.html and I think it's been taken down.

Wow, sexy! The ad is still on that page for me. I think the red ring of death would look extra ominous on a black unit.

Release something in black, everyone will want it in white. Release it in white, everyone will want it in black.

I guess I've been assimilated by my iPod and DS Lite. White is the new black.

I'd still probably go white, but it is nice to see that Nintendo isn't the only one offering aesthetic choices. Good on ya, Microsoft! Now just announce it (and say it has an HD-DVD built in )

I even went on Ebay and paid a ridiculous amount for a then rare all black faceplate that wasn't actually a decal. Just so the damn white unit wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb when the lights were down.

Anybody having trouble with Live today? I was disconnected twice, it's never happened before, I bought it at launch. I got an error code when trying to look at TGS content and menu blades are slow to bring up info. I hope it's a problem with live and not my box, last night my system froze up twice while trying to load Battlefield, both times while I was logging into Live. If my box does go at least they're fixing 'em for free now.

According to the xbox.com forums people who got in touch with CS were told that some servers are down. I wasn't able to connect at all when i got home and finally got on for a bit - haven't been disconnected yet at least.

BTW, i'm also very irritated Totemball isn't out yet.

I've been having issues since yesterday afternoon. I wasn't able to connect at all to Xbox Live. Today after several attempts, it finally connected but everything was extremely lagged.

I had a power outage earlier that morning, and was starting to think that it fried something, so I am glad to hear that other people have been having issues.

I didn't get mine today, but I should have it tomorrow or Monday at the latest, since my shipping status is pretty close to me already.
