I just want eyetoy games for the thing. I'm actually stunned that it didn't launch with a disc of simple eyetoy mini-games.

Can anyone who has access during the day to Live confirm for me that Totemball isn't available today? I want to know whether i need to run to pick up my camera right after work or not. I don't want to buy the thing today if tere won't be anything to play with it.

Luckily i picked up Kameo for 20$ when Sears had that sale a few months back.

First GTA
Then 1080p
Now Guitar Hero?
Doesn't say which systems, but I think 360 is a high probability.
What blow to Sony is next?

Activision CEO Robert Kotick revealed that the popular Guitar Hero series will be a multiplatform game beginning in 2007, according to a report at GamesIndustry.biz.
Will future iterations of Guitar Hero have platform-exclusive songs? What about incorporating microtransactions as a way to expand the song lists? Stay tuned (tuned, get it!), this could get interesting.

Actually, the more I think about it, it sounds perfect for both the 360 AND the Wii. The 360 due to microtransactions, every company is crazy not to cash in on that. And the Wii due to its uniqueness and focus on quirky games. Not to mention it appears to be strong on peripherals.

Do microtransactions make sense from a developer/publisher standpoint on this? I mean, sure we'd rather pay a couple bucks here and there for a few songs we like in lieu of another $40-$50 booster disc (see Wii Sports pack-in
) but I'd think they'd rather stay away from that if possible. Maybe harder versions of the songs you already own, even though I'm not sure that is possible from what I've seen.
With regard to a Wii peripherial, it sure would be nice if it cost less by having a slot for the Wiimote to slide in. It already has the wireless connection, all the button mappings, and the motion-sensing for that ridiculous ass-rock guitar move I see my friends do.

The revelation comes in the same week that Gamestation employees were reportedly informed that the game would appear on Xbox 360 in the first part of 2007.
Game store employees being told about a game release still barely counts as confirmation to me. Maybe their employees are smarter and more informed than the ones I deal with when I go to the mall.

Did anybody buy DDR for the Xbox? I think downloadable song packs could be both dangerous and kind of cool.

I know i bought two of the pay song packs for Karaoke Revolution on the original Xbox. On the 360 i have bought 2 expansions for Oblivion, 2 Arcade games, 2 packs of gamertag pictures, and 2 map packs for Call of Duty. So they have made a little money off me

The Karaoke packs i believe were 2.50$ or 5$ a piece on the original Xbox. The expansions for Oblivion were about 2$ each, the arcade games were 5$ for one and 10$ for the other 2 (i forgot i also got SFII), the gamertag picture packs were around 1.50$-2$ each and the maps for CoD were 5$ for one pack and 10$ for the second. So all in all around 60 bucks over the past 2 years in downloaded transactions.
Actually i take that back, i also bought the Halo map pack over Live (and then re-bought the disc when it released). I forget how much those were.

I thought part of this was an interesting read, from Gamespot:
-----------------------
Q&A: 360 degrees with Peter Moore
CN: When you look at the ideal Xbox consumer, who is that person?
PM: He is a male. He is connected. He is very, very used to going online for community. He's probably played PC games online. He's part of a Halo 2 clan and has been for two years. That comes from him playing Halo in college--so he's 23 or 24--with his buddies. He still loves to go out on a Wednesday night with them, even though they're spread all around the US. But they all come together Wednesday night to relive the days in the dorm room.
CN: What else does he want?
PM: He also expects instant gratification, the delivery of game demos to his hard drive via his broadband network. And he's popular enough to have his profile online and he's pretty competitive, so he loves (Xbox game) achievements. He'll stay up all night to get achievements in games that his buddies have because it just pisses him off that they've got them first. He also would rather starve to death than not have a high-definition TV. He'll go without food rather than have a standard-def 27-inch TV.
----------------------
Well lets see, I'm a male, and i have a HDTV. But me and my college buddies played Starcraft and Marvel VS Capcom, putting me at 28, go figure.

That's pretty stupid.
I just got my shipping notification from Amazon for the $59.99 Xbox 360 Live Camera Bundle:
Shipped via USPS (estimated arrival date: 27-September-2006)
If any of you guys ordered that also, it should be shipping soon for you too I guess. I get packages well before the listed arrival date though, so there we go.

Dead Rising shipped 500,000 copies for 360 in the first 2 weeks. 500,000 at $60 a pop is $30 million. Right after announcing sales, Capcom reconfirmed Resident Evil 5 for 360 as well as saying that they're going to use a multiplatform engine. There's just too many sales to throw away by having it exclusive.
