I'm not familiar with the Dark Brotherhood yet, so I can't comment on that.

I'm not sure what the heck happened but I'm just going to go on with things for now.

My buddy, who is crazy about this game is going to bring his guide over soon and hook me up. He's beat the game a few times already and working on 5 or 6 different characters right now. He's always been an RPG fanatic but he's never been this bad before.

I did the quest mentioned earlier for the unbreakable lockpick and that made my night.

This thread hasn't been posted in for a little bit. This is tragic in that it lets me play the game vicariously while at work. Regale me with more stories!

Very cool. You should have gotten into Burnout with us though. It was nice getting a small break from the Oblivion rut i was getting into. I'm still running the DB quests, i just wish you got a promotion each quest. GRAW tonight though! Perhaps with a Burnout glaze later in the evening if we get bored.

I know. I was in the midst of a couple quests that I wanted to finish. Next thing I know, its 10:30pm. I just got a invite from Czar to Burnout. But I shut off my system as I needed some sleep.
This game is like crack I tell you.

You'll get your promotions in the DB soon enough. Make sure you do the mission so that you get a bonus. The items are well worth it. And make sure you buy all the spells and items you want from that one guy before you get to the mission "Purification"

Am I the only one who really doesn't have a want to do the main story? I've completed the mage's guild, the DB, the arena, and the thieves guild. Now I find that when I play rather than starting the main quest I just wander around and clear out whatever random caves I find. I've already closed the 1st gate and did the quest at Kavatch but I don't find myself wanting to continue it all too much. Maybe it's just because I've played just about 60 hours since it came out last week and I'm burnt out. Anyone else feel this way?

According to the creature section in the strategy guide, enemies don't level up. They stay the same level, but the game will start to throw tougher enemies at you to keep it challenging. They do start carrying better armor and weapons as you level though. I'm lvl 19 now, and I've got some nice stuff with bonuses, that make killing easier.

I haven't done any of the main story quest except getting out of the sewer, closing an oblivion gate, saving Kvatch and delivering Martin to the safe location.
I've been doing side quests, exploring, making potions, raising my stats, etc.

Creatures don't level up, but bosses and human characters do. Town guards will always be at a higher level than you as will dungeon/gate bosses.

Do all human characters? Some of the ones I've encountered in dungeons recently, excluding bosses, have been pretty easy. Although, I do have some nice weapons, and my strength and blade skill are in the 90s, so that probably helps. Haven't fought any town guards, but it would make sense that they leveled up with you.

I'm pretty sure they all do, but some of the non-important ones like bandits are leveled a few levels below to to make them easier. So they'll level up with you, but always be a few behind.

I finally went to battle in the arena last night. the first fight I didn't really know what to expect so I went in kinda half assed and that girl is pretty fast, so before I knew it I needed to drink a strong potion of healing which pissed me off so I summoned a skeleton on her and we chopped her into little pieces it was a good time. My second fight I completely destroyed the guy. Then I got tired and went to bed so I will go back to arena competition over the weekend.

WHAT?!??! He's BEAT the game a few times already?!?!? I thought it takes about 250 hours to beat the game and that's if you don't do all the quests!!!

I really am enjoying this quest. I made it to grand champion, but when I tried to fight two goblins and a troll, I was way too weak to beat the troll because his energy regenerated way too fast. I completely broke a sword and warhammer - went from 100-0 - on his ass and couldn't take him down. After literally an hour of fighting him and using all my spells/potions/scrolls I finally gave up and quit.

Thanks for answering. I got tired of looking around aimlessly in the wild, but finally found 5 of them at the Main Ingerdient at the Market sector of Imperial City.

It's good to be cleared of vampirism, finally.

It's not cool to be a vampire? Is it really that bad to be one?

Will be starting this game this weekend (if I can find the time). Can't wait!

It has its pluses and minuses.. It does give you stat bonus points, which is good. Even more if you don't feed every often.

You have to feed once every 24 hours if you want to be able to travel in the day. If you don't you take sunlight damage. You can't fast travel while taking damage, and you can't wait outside.

It just adds another level to it. I have the vampire cure, so I could complete a quest. But I haven't taken it so far. I just find an NPC sleeping at night and feed. One good source, is the Arcane University. Go up into the second level of the Mages quarters and you have 7 mage students sleeping away. Just ripe for feeding.

But, for me, the pluses outweigh the minuses. The stat boosts are very nice.

Count me among the bloodsuckers. It amuses me to no end that when i do an assassination quest i feed on the victim before icing him. (normally using a cream cheese or vanilla frosting)

I do wish being a vamp made you a little more of a badass though. It honestly seems a tad underpowered, but the negatives are so minor it is probably better this way.

Miyu, you are more powerful if you go 3 or more days without feeding. Of course, no one will talk to you because you will look quite monsterish. And you won't be able to travel in the day. But, if you don't want to worry about doing any quests or shopping in the day time, you can just travel at night and dungeon crawl.
The stat boosts go from 5(normal vampire) to 15 or 20.

I guess i'm thinking of Morrowind where you received like 25-50 in stats and i thought did a fair amount more damage in combat. I kind of wish you had more a sense of just tearing through things when a full monster.

I have waited those days before and the bonus stats were cool - just still weaker than i remember the vamps in Morrowind. But like i mentioned earlier, Morrowind had huge drawbacks to being a vamp.

Ahh.. I never played Morrowind, so I don't know what it was like.

But I do enjoy being a vampire.

You should. I actually think it was a better game overall. I really wish it was on the 360 BC list.

I have a question for anyone who did the battle for Kavatch at a low level. Towards the end when you have to raise the gate to let that guy through, what types of monters came after you? I just did that part at level 20 and the amount of creatures I got hit with was nuts. There were 4 or 5 deadroths, two dremora spiders both spitting out the smaller ones to attack me too, three of those xialli things (definitely spelt wrong), and three storm atrinochs.

I did the Kavatch battle at level 1, and the only thing I fought the entire time were Scamps (I think that's what they're called).
