You know that there's no simple answer to that question. Also realize that in a few years Oblivion is going to look much better on a PC than it does now. Better Bodies and Better Heads Redux?

I broke down and picked it up for the 360 today. I have no willpower.

You can download this cool, free utility called Fraps.

Thanks! I just downloaded it and will try it out now. Does running FRAPS cause any slowdown itself?

Does anyone know the answer to my hot key question?

Well, I guess I answered my own question. I loaded up FRAPS and the game slowed down to 1-2 Frames. I lowered the video settings and it locked up altogether.
Crap.

Got it hooked up to a 24" widescreen HD monitor via component, set the console to 1080i mode and put in NBA 2006 in for a test run. It looked pretty horrible compared to what I'm used to on the PC. There was just a lot of blotchy areas and it just wasn't crisp. Is Oblivion the same on the 360 cause it goes without saying thay it would look crisp on a high spec pc with the same monitor.
NBA 2k6 isn't exactly the best looking game on the block. That said, I don't recall any blotchiness in the short time I played it, you sure you have the component cable set to Component and not Composite? Regardless, Oblivion looks exactly like the PC counterpart on the 360 (very close) and runs at a sharp resolution. That said, apparently 720p would look better if it's on an LCD. 1080i looks fine here. If you have a big monitor and a good system though, I'm sure you'd be beter off with the PC version.

I was ouputting via component (red, blue, green) and the LCD screen had matching inputs. I can't imagine Composite working the way I had it all plugged in. The game was blotchy around fine edges. When a players face was big on the screen it looked fine, but when there was many players on the court and the game view was further away there just wasn't the crispness you see on the pc. Then again, I was standing 3-4 feet away from the screen, and it could just be a crappy LCD.
I might just break down and get a 360 and a projector then. My wife is going to see her parents for a few months soon and I want to maximise on my alone time

Still on the cable itself you need to make sure the switch is in the "HDTV" position otherwise it will look like complete ass. Yeah it's stupid but for some reason they felt having a slider switch on the connector was a good Idea.

Take a note from George and learn to mix your 2 passions. There are positions that would allow you to play this and take care of the wife.

I've had the game since Tuesday and I haven't had time to even put the game in yet. MY wife discovered Jewel Quest and she's been sick, so I cannot just take over. However, I think I may today make my main voyage. I have to create myself a character. Not sure what to choose, since I never played a Elder Scrolls game...and RPG's in general.

I haven't read any of the other boards on this game, so I'm wondering if anyone's started creating characters that look like famous celebrities? That could be funny to see.

Is there even a way to capture screen shots off the xbox 360 version?

Playing on my pc now and it looks amazing even with my radeon 9800 pro (with a p4 3.4 ghz and 1 GB of ram).

Now if I can only restrain myself from killing innocent people and reloading; gotta be righteous, gotta be noble!

I was searching for clues and in a place where some main clue was, but it wouldnt let me open a chest until I had questioned other people first. It was VERY frustrating. No lock, no key, it just looked like a bug--but It was rigged in the game so it wouldnt let me until I had satisfied all the questionings first. To me thats kind of cheap. If i find a hiding place with evidence, I shouldnt have to question suspects before it will let me access it.

I am SOOOOOO stuck on this right now

Oh, I broke down and bought a 7800GS card today. Should have it by next Wednesday. Hopefully running Oblivion in 1680x1050 won't be a problem then.

This might have been mentioned somewhere in this thread but is the combat in this game turn-based or is it real-time? I'm not into role-playing games but this one has gotten such great reviews I'm thinking of getting it. Is the action portion similar to a hack 'n' slash game?
