Haven't played KH2 yet to know the answer to that

CoM introduced a lot of new characters and concepts that I don't know how it could be omitted. However, the director (I forget his name) has said that he doesn't think CoM is essential to the story. I never even finished it myself. I didn't like the combat. There are game scripts out there on gamefaqs. Some guy also made a 3-hour movie out of it. You could download that and watch/read it to get caught up if you wanna jump right into KH2.

3-hour, 672MB "Chain of Memories - The Movie"

I just picked this up. If you live in Chicagoland most Gamestops have this tonight. Cool so far. No Sora yet though.

That's what I got too.. I've got a "Mom & Pop" shop I'm going to call on my next break.. if they don't have it I'm content to pick it up tomorrow at Best Buy or Fry's. I can handle another night of Midnight Club if needed.. or get some extra sleep in case I end up losing track of time tomorrow, hehe.

I just called my local BBs. The first (newer/closer) one said it's got a hard street date of tomorrow. The second (older/further) one said they should have it later today and I specifically asked if he'll be able to sell it... He said yes. I'll call back in about 2 hours and see if the truck's come in yet.

I CAN NOT FRIGGIN' WAIT FOR THIS! Neither can my 5-year-old daughter. She's been counting the days with me.

No Kingdom Hearts 2 for me today either... I hope I don't get sick tonight. I'd sure hate to miss work tomorrow.

Oh yeah, that'd be terrible! I guess a trip to McDonald's couldn't hurt on the way home either.. might as well make it real if I'm going to do it. I've got a CompUSA -> Target -> Best Buy -> Circuit City -> Wal*Mart path from work to home that I may run, not that I'm excited about stopping and going that many times.. but I guess it doesn't hurt to try either.

That's pretty cool. Has anyone done something like this for Kingdom Hearts?

While probably not as in-depth.. the first few hours of the game when you play as Roxas serves as a "fill-in-the-details" episode replaying important events from both KH1 and CoM. From what I could tell in the Japanese version they've stuck Sora's memories in his head and you seem him remember stuff from Sora's past.

For anybody that gets the game, you've got to agree with me that the best part in intro is:
Spoiler:
Vivi kicking Seifer's ass. Man, that was so satisfying.

The same guy has 4 "episodes" of the KH story. I've thought about burning them to DVD and letting my daughter's preschool class watch them. So much Disney they're bound to enjoy it, even if it is a little jarring and boring.

Here's a link to the author's stuff: http://hosted.filefront.com/BleuVII

It's the "Skies of Hope (SoH)" stuff. He's got them in avi and mp4 flavors.

thanks for the updates guys, I don't have the energy right now to go out and check my stores but based on what you people are saying I think it's safe to probably wait until tomorrow or thurs, but its nice to know it isn't sitting at the store right now because if I knew i'd seriously get in my car this second and drive through this rainstorm I'm hearing outside to buy it.

Hmm... everywhere I look for this stuff, it doesn't exist. Including the site you posted. I'll keep looking around, sounds cool.

Edit: I finally got on. It looks like the site is just getting asaulted by traffic.

Hmm... reports are that it is 29.99 at some Fry's. As I work right next to the Burbank one, I'll go check it out after work...

Around Noon went to Circuit City, Best Buy, FYE, EBX, Game Stop, Toys R' Us, CompUSA and SonyStyle or whatever the name of the Sony high-end mall store is. No go at any of them. BB said Thursday, SonyStyle and CompUSA had no idea, FYE, EBX, Game Stop and Circuit City said tomorrow and TRU said anytime between April 1st and April 14th.

Rather pathetic that gaming distribution is obviously so f'ed up. This isn't the first time I've played go to a thousand different stores and end up with nothing on a game's release date. Is it that hard to come up with reliable distribution like music & movies have enjoyed for decades?

I downloaded it and it has no video. Sound only. Is it meant to be that way?
